De stad Den Haag wil af van een grootschalige opvanglocatie voor asielzoekers.  In 2024 beloofde de gemeente dat in het oude HagaZiekenhuis 440 asielzoekers mogen komen. Den Haag voldoet op dit moment niet aan de spreidingswet, dus extra opvangplekken zijn hard nodig. Maar de lokale partij Hart voor Den Haag is fel tegen de grootschalige opvangplek en boekte begin dit jaar een grote zege bij de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen. Partijleider Richard de Mos wil nu alsnog een streep zetten door de opvang. Daarvoor moet hij wel onder een contract met het COA uit zien te komen. De vraag is of dat zomaar kan. Het COA zegt van niet, maar De Mos zegt dat hij van plan is de deal af te kopen. Hoewel Amsterdam veel Oranjefans telt, zijn er natuurlijk ook veel Amsterdammers die ook juichen voor een ander land tijdens het WK. Vandaag spreken we Nick, die ons laat zien hoe je een klassieke full English breakfast klaarmaakt.  ''Dit is het ontbijt van een echte kampioen'', zegt Nick terwijl hij een bord met zijn vers bereide ochtendmaal omhoog houdt. Hij woont nu ruim dertien jaar in Amsterdam en runt al jarenlang horecazaken. In zijn café in Oud-West worden traditionele Engelse ontbijtjes uitgeserveerd. Volgens Nick bestaat erg geen betere maaltijd als voorbereiding op een spannende voetbaldag. Vanavond speelt het Engelse elftal, ook wel The Three Lions genoemd, de kwartfinale van het WK tegen Noorwegen. Nick heeft zijn zaak al flink versierd met ballonnen en vlaggetjes van de Engelse vlag. Morgen kijkt hij de wedstrijd samen met zijn vrienden in de pub. Met het vertrouwen in een goede afloop zit het bij hem wel goed. ''Ik denk dat we dit jaar de wereldbeker gaan pakken'', vertelt hij. Tegenstander Noorwegen is na de overwinning op Brazilië een van de verrassingen van het toernooi. Topspits Haaland lijkt het grootste gevaar voor de Engelsen te gaan worden. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) selected Hughes in 1961 to develop the spacecraft system for the program. Hughes was responsible for designing and building the Surveyor probes, which were equipped with advanced features like retro rockets, crushable footpads, and shock absorbers to ensure soft landings on the Moon. 00:00: The film documents tests conducted by Hughes using a quarter-scale model of the Surveyor spacecraft. 🚨 Will France introduce a “Licence to Kill” law? Those are words used by Amnesty International to describe a new bill that was approved by the French parliament on Tuesday. It sets out that every police killing will be considered legal unless proven otherwise. And the burden of proof will no longer fall on the police, but on the victims. A number of civil rights organizations have expressed alarm over the text, which Amnesty likened to a “step towards authoritarian practices”. At the time of publication, a petition that opposes the law has surpassed half a million signatures, which means it will be discussed in the National Assembly. De afgelopen tijd kreeg AT5 meerdere tips binnen over gestolen pakketten. Nieuwe cijfers van de politie laten zien dat het probleem ook in de aangiftes zichtbaar is. In de eerste vier maanden van dit jaar werd 94 keer aangifte gedaan van diefstal van een pakket, vijftien procent meer dan in dezelfde periode twee jaar geleden. Vooral in stadsdeel Oost nam het aantal aangiften toe. We bestellen er met z’n allen flink op los. Vorig jaar werden in Nederland ruim 615 miljoen pakketten verstuurd. Veruit de meeste daarvan komen gewoon aan, maar niet iedere bestelling bereikt ook daadwerkelijk de koper. En hoewel lang niet van iedere pakketdiefstal aangifte wordt gedaan, ziet de politie het aantal meldingen toenemen. Stijging in Amsterdam-Oost In de eerste vier maanden van 2024 werd 82 keer aangifte gedaan van diefstal van een postpakket. Een jaar later waren dat er 87 en dit jaar staat de teller na vier maanden al op 94. Opvallend is dat de stijging vrijwel volledig uit stadsdeel Oost komt. Daar steeg het aantal aangiften in twee jaar tijd met 44 procent: van 25 naar 36. Ook van Yass, die in een groot nieuwbouwcomplex in Zuidoost woont, worden regelmatig pakketten gestolen. ''De pakketjes worden vaak in de centrale hal neergelegd door bezorgers of zelfs buiten bij de voordeur'', zegt Yass. ''Dieven lopen zo de hal binnen en nemen alles mee.'' Juist bij dit soort grote appartementencomplexen met een onbeheerde centrale hal lijkt het vaker mis te gaan. We vroegen het AT5-panel, met bijna tweeduizend Amsterdammers, naar hun ervaringen. Daaruit blijkt dat zestien procent aangeeft dat er weleens een of meerdere pakketten zijn verdwenen. Het gaat daarbij vooral om kleding, schoenen en accessoires, maar ook elektronica en cosmetica worden regelmatig genoemd. "Pakketjes worden nog wel eens in de algemeen toegankelijke hal achtergelaten. Kort daarna zijn alle pakketten verdwenen, dus vermoedelijk loopt er een dief achteraan", schrijft een panellid. Een ander vertelt dat hij meerdere klachten indiende bij de pakketdienst over pakketten die niet aankwamen, maar dat er niets veranderde. "Ruim twee jaar later werd bekend dat de bezorger zelf een enorme hoeveelheid pakketjes achterover had gedrukt." Waar heb je recht op als consument als een pakket uit de centrale hal wordt gestolen? Juridisch is dat vrij duidelijk. Tenzij een consument zelf toestemming heeft gegeven om een pakket op een bepaalde plek achter te laten, blijft de verzender verantwoordelijk totdat de ontvanger het pakket fysiek in handen heeft gekregen. Handtekeningen vervalst Verschillende respondenten geven verder aan dat bezorgers doen alsof de ontvanger heeft getekend voor ontvangst van een pakket, terwijl dat niet zo is. Arthur de Froe maakte dat mee toen hij een MacBook van duizenden euro’s bestelde. “Ik kreeg een track-and-trace bericht: uw pakket is geleverd, maar er is nooit een bezorger geweest. Bij navraag zei de bezorgdienst dat ik zou hebben getekend voor ontvangst.” Met camerabeelden kon Arthur uiteindelijk bewijzen dat er geen bezorger is geweest en hij nooit iets heeft getekend. Toch ging het ook de tweede keer met de bezorging van de computer mis. ‘’Weer kreeg ik een bericht dat ik zelf zou hebben getekend voor ontvangst, gelukkig vond ik deze keer het pakket bij de voordeur.’’ Xavier Koehoorn is als jurist betrokken bij het platform Nietbezorgd, zij stappen namens consumenten naar de rechter in dit soort consumentenrecht-zaken. Volgens hem is een handtekening juridisch gezien niet voldoende bewijs voor de bezorging. “De Hoge Raad heeft geoordeeld dat de consument die ontkent dat hij heeft getekend dat niet hoeft te onderbouwen”, legt Xavier uit. ''De bewijslast ligt in zo’n geval weer bij de verzender.’’ Met bijvoorbeeld camerabeelden moet dan worden aangetoond dat de consument wel heeft getekend. Soms lijkt een pakket zelfs al voordat het bezorgd wordt te verdwijnen. Roger Janssen bestelde een nieuwe telefoon, maar trof tot zijn verbazing na levering iets heel anders aan. “Ik maakte het open en er zat geen telefoon in, maar een soort rubber ding. Dat bleek achteraf een afdekring voor een schoorsteen te zijn.” Waar de inhoud van het pakket is gestolen, is nooit duidelijk geworden. Maar wie zitten er vaak achter de diefstallen?
