Wie familie of vrienden heeft in de wijken rondom het Nelson Mandelapark in Zuidoost, kan daar tijdens Kwaku niet met de auto komen. Er mag dit jaar alleen nog door bewoners zelf geparkeerd worden en heel wat mensen die we gesproken hebben zijn daar niet blij mee. De afgelopen edities ging de wijk in mindere mate wegens Kwaku ook dicht voor parkerende automobilisten, maar toen werden er nog uitzonderingen gemaakt voor het bezoek dat voor bewoners kwam. Zij konden bijvoorbeeld een sticker krijgen en daardoor toch doorrijden. "Nu blijkt het zo te zijn dat onze bezoekers niet bij ons kunnen komen", vertelt een bewoner van Gooise Kant in Zuidoost. "Dat is wel vervelend, dat is wel een dingetje." Een ander vertelt dat ze met het mooie weer juist graag familie en vrienden in haar tuin ontvangt. "Maar dat kan niet." Stadsdeel Zuidoost laat weten dat er eerdere edities klachten over een tekort aan parkeerplekken waren binnengekomen, omdat festivalbezoekers in de wijk parkeerden en daarna lopend naar het park gingen. Er zou 'zeer intensief' met bewoners overlegd zijn, al zeggen meerdere bewoners tegen AT5 dat dit besluit voor hen totaal uit de lucht kwam vallen. Bezoek van bewoners wordt door het stadsdeel aangeraden om bij het AMC te parkeren en daarna met het ov  te komen. Maar dat ziet lang niet iedereen gebeuren. "Mijn zoon heeft gewoon zelf een autootje en moet hier kunnen komen. En niet in een bus moeten stappen. Dat is echt te gek voor woorden." Kwaku begint morgen en vindt tot 2 augustus elke vrijdag en elk weekend plaats. Buiten de festivaldagen om is de wijk wel toegankelijk. Reactie stadsdeelbestuurder Tyas Bijlholt "De afgelopen jaren waren er veel klachten over parkeren rondom Kwakoe Festival. Eerdere maatregelen werkten nog niet voldoende, waardoor veel inwoners overlast hadden van het vele parkeren in de buurt. In de aanloop van deze Kwakoe editie hebben we zeer intensief met bewoners overlegd wat er mogelijk is." "Meerdere (drie) druk bezochte bewonersavonden georganiseerd. De maatregelen die we nu nemen zijn de uitkomst van onder andere die gesprekken met bewoners. Hopelijk dringen die maatregelen die we in gesprekken met bewoners hebben gemaakt, de parkeeroverlast terug. In totaal werden bij de onrust rond de WK-wedstrijd Marokko - Frankrijk acht mensen aangehouden. Nadat Marokko van Frankrijk verloor in de kwartfinale van het WK verzamelden honderden jongeren zich op Tussen Meer. De politie en verkeersregelaars hadden de straat al grotendeels afgezet voor verkeer en er reed een bus van de Aanhoudingseenheid (die bestaat uit ME'ers in burger die aanhoudingen verrichten) rond. Twee politieagenten in geelgestreepte uniformen staan ’s nachts op straat en houden het verkeer in de gaten, waaronder auto’s en een motorfiets. Straatlantaarns verlichten het tafereel en verschillende voertuigen staan stil of rijden over de weg. Een Nederlands politiebusje met oranje zwaailichten blokkeert ’s nachts een straat in de stad; er staan verschillende agenten in de buurt en links staat nog een politievoertuig geparkeerd.
