Overal waar landen moderniseren zien we de rol van tradities groeien: Russen zoeken hun heil in de kerk, Turken kijken soaps die het Ottomaanse Rijk verheerlijken en zelfs Nederlanders verlangen naar 'vroeger'. Filosoof Haroon Sheikh geeft uitleg.

Bhaja Govindam! Bhaja Govindam! An illusionary Batman or Spider-man or Superman can never be a child's real super hero. Children do get inspired by real-time superheroes like Sri. Adi Shankara! He is not an illusionary hero but is the one who obliterates Illusions away from us! Here's a snippet from a casual Bhaja Govindam session with my 4 year old nephew, Ishan Pai this morning! His intonation and clear enunciation endorses the fact that esoteric vedanta can be inspiring to Gen Z kids as well.
All of the CAGED scales contain hidden patterns inside them. Once you know how to identify them you can start to take advantage of them and expand your fretboard knowledge with them. This week I continue to further build on the idea presented by David Hallowell and use it to find the underlying scale tones in all 5 CAGED shapes. Tape Drives, Cassette Decks, Tape Decks, Datasettes... they go by many different names, but for many of us, they were the gateways to 8 bit adventures of past. Being from the UK, I spent many an hour waiting for games to load via. tape on my ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. So, when news of fangled digital tape decks caught my ears, my attention was given. We unearth the tangled roots of the earliest forms of modern science, beginning with the radical alchemical theories of the rabble-rousing healer called Paracelsus, and running through the heated debates over Galileo's astronomy, which broke down the distinction between the earth and the heavens. Due to these shocks, the old teleological, or purpose-driven, scheme of the world broke down, giving way to a free-for-all of speculation and apocalyptic excitement. We question the historical meaning of the concept of "science," and consider how modern-day pop scientists like Neil DeGrasse Tyson portray the past selectively in order to build the myth of reason and science as beacons of light amidst superstition. The Netherlands is a country of artificial turf. No country in the world has more artificial turf per capita. Last summer, over 200 artificial grass pitches were replaced in the Netherlands. No less than 1 million square metres of artificial turf had to be removed. All waste that cannot be dumped. What happens to the old pitches? What happens to all that plastic and all the polluting rubber in them? Processing companies promise to separate all the waste and recycle it. Municipalities pay top dollar for that. But what is the reality? Those involved call it 'the best kept secret in the market'. ZEMBLA follows the trail of a number of transports, and finds itself in a world of dealers, defrauding artificial turf processors, absent supervisors, and a growing artificial turf pile.

Across cultures, religious communities that expect more from their members thrive (or religious communities in which members face greater consequences for leaving). Meanwhile, lenient religious groups struggle to maintain membership. Why is this? Wouldn't you assume most people would want to join the easiest religion? Recent research suggests that strict religions are sociologically and psychologically predisposed to succeed. What is behind the popularity of Outlander? Why have crazed fans of the show from around the world begun to overrun Scottish castles? – and why did the UK Prime Minister secretly meet with TV executives to stop its premier in 2014? We examine the show’s success in light of Scottish history and politics, and in the context of the ongoing romance of Scotland, by which modern people project their longings for tradition, attachment, and honor onto a small, craggy country in the north of Britain.

Video 2000 - or V2000 is the video cassette recorder format that Philips predicted would have 50% of the European market by 1985. Everyone is familiar with the Beta vs VHS battle, but here's the story of the other video tape format - the 'Video Compact Cassette', V2000 : the European alternative. I had a huge amount to say about this game and, despite this videos long length, I ended up cutting a huge amount of the notes I’d made and also had to be very selective with what to include. In the end I focused on what seemed most important to me: the game’s biggest flaws and its most underappreciated strengths. The end result is that I spend roughly an equal amount of time in this video criticizing the witcher 3 as I do praising it, but it’s not because I dislike the game as much as I like it. I love the witcher 3, and I hope that even if this video is heavy with criticism that it still feels like a celebration of this game, because it was very much intended to be.
We trace the waves of crop failure, famine, pestilence, and war that swept over Europe in the 1600s as the climate sank into a “Little Ice Age” and armies literally marched across frozen seas. In the midst of unimaginable crisis, alchemists, astrologers, and apocalypticists scoured the Bible for prophecies to explain the disasters around them as part of the approaching End Times. Many of the defining institutions of the modern world we know today – such as overseas colonization, investor-owned corporations, public education, religious toleration, and scientific academies – have their origins as attempts to cope with the crisis of the seventeenth century and prepare the way for the Second Coming. These surprisingly easy rules will have you seeing beyond the 3 note per string scales in no time. In this video, I talk about how to increase the range of accessible notes from 3 per string to 5 per string using some simple insights, giving you a much more flexible and adaptable view of the guitar neck.

Part 7 of my openDog open source hardware & software Dog Robot. Now it's finally time for the electronics installation using Arduinos and ODrive Robotics open source brushless motor ESCs. There's quite a lot to this episode in terms of work and wires, as well as a lot of explanation about the setup! My open source robot dog project. It includes everything from 3D printing to coding, including a lot of CNC cutting and installing all the electronics myself. If you want your very own four-legged friend to play fetch with and go on long walks then this is the perfect project for you. This way a dog can literally just be for Christmas. The full CAD is available at the link below for anyone that’s keen to build their own. https://github.com/XRobots ① GENIUS No MacArthur grant yet. My channel is where I share some of my useful and not-so-useful inventions, designs and maker advice. Iron Man is my go-to cosplay, and 3D printing can solve most issues - broken bolts, missing parts, world hunger, you name it. XRobots is the community around my content where you can get in touch, share tips and advice, and more build FAQs, schematics and designs are also available. ③ MUSIC AND SFX The majority of the music and SFX used in my videos is from Epidemic Sound http://share.epidemicsound.com/xrobots
