The court also ordered the site's editor-in-chief, Lina Attalah, to be detained until she pays a fine of over $50,000. The independent outlet was founded in 2013 "in the midst of Egypt's revolution and counterrevolution" and has "managed to survive all of those years in one of the most hostile media environments" in the world. Still, "what happened today is an unprecedented escalation" because Attalah and Mada Masr had never before been referred to trial. Support our work: https://democracynow.org/donate/sm-desc-yt A competitive Senate race has gripped the once reliably Republican state of Alaska. If Democratic challenger Mary Peltola wins the election against incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, it could tip the balance of power in Washington. Attorneys for Peltola and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee have submitted a motion to dismiss a Department of Justice lawsuit filed last week that seeks to block the certification of the election results in Alaska if Sullivan loses. President Trump confirmed on Friday he had ordered the DOJ to file the lawsuit, which alleges that the appearance of another candidate on the ballot with a similar name, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., would mislead voters. The Alaska Supreme Court ruled ahead of the primary that Sullivan Jr., a retired schoolteacher who is running unaffiliated, could appear on the ballot. The ACLU — on behalf of two Alaska voters, the League of Women Voters of Alaska and Common Cause — has moved to intervene in the case and has also filed a motion asking the court to dismiss it. In 1991, Dave Grohl records “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with Nirvana and creates one of the most iconic drum parts in rock history. *The strange thing is, it came from disco.* For 30 years, everyone heard it as the sound of grunge: raw, loud, and aggressive. Then in 2021, Dave finally revealed where a lot of his Nevermind drumming came from. It wasn’t punk or metal. It was The Gap Band, Cameo, and Chic’s Tony Thompson. So how did a disco groove end up driving the song that changed rock forever? In this video, we trace the story of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from Kurt Cobain’s attempt to write “the ultimate pop song,” through Dave’s love of disco, post-punk and hardcore (including Budgie from Siouxsie and the Banshees and Earl Hudson from Bad Brains), to the recipe that made the drum part his own. We’ll look at the secret ingredient behind the song’s power: dynamics. That includes the tight verse groove, the open hi-hat on the “&” of 4, and the fill that drops straight back into the quiet verse without a crash. We’ll also show you how to play it on the kit, and why “Smells Like Teen Spirit” still hits just as hard nearly 35 years later. Discover DO La Mancha and grapes Airén and Tempranillo (known locally as Cencibel) Spain's largest wine Denominación de Origen (DO) and the largest in the world by vineyard area. In this episode of my Mastering Spain series, I'll explore the vineyards, climate, grape varieties and wine styles of La Mancha, focusing on its two principal grapes: Airén and Tempranillo (known locally as Cencibel). Located in Castilla-La Mancha, central Spain, this vast wine region has a long history of viticulture. Traditionally associated with bulk wine production, La Mancha now produces a range of white and red wines, from simple, fruit-forward styles to more complex, aged expressions. I'll take you through the geography of the region, looking at its position on the southern Meseta, its extreme continental climate, limestone-based soils and the mountain ranges and river systems that influence the wider landscape. I'll also explore the important role of Airén, the region's traditional white grape, including its historic use in table wine and brandy production and the development of fuller-bodied and skin-contact styles. For the reds, I'll look at Tempranillo (Cencibel), explaining its typical characteristics, how it compares with wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, and the use of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva ageing classifications. IN THIS VIDEO, I'LL COVER: - DO La Mancha's history and its establishment in 1932 - The region's enormous vineyard area and its four principal provinces: Toledo, Cuenca, Albacete and Ciudad Real - The southern Meseta's continental climate, vineyard elevations and soils - Airén and its historical importance to wine production in La Mancha - Tempranillo (Cencibel) and the region's red wine styles - The differences between younger wines and those labelled Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva Whether you're studying Spanish wine for your WSET qualifications or simply looking to expand your wine knowledge, I hope this introduction gives you a better understanding of La Mancha and its place in the world of Spanish wine. In 2011, the United States made a decision that would change the future of the global space race. Washington effectively shut China out of cooperation with NASA, hoping to protect America's technological advantage. But instead of slowing China down, the restrictions helped accelerate its push for an independent space program. Today, China has built its own space station, developed the BeiDou satellite navigation system to rival America's GPS, and established space partnerships with 64 countries around the world. What started as an effort to isolate China has become one of the most remarkable geopolitical developments of the modern space age. But this new space race isn't just about rockets, satellites, or putting astronauts on the moon. It's about who controls the infrastructure that powers the global economy, international communications, military operations, and the future of global trade. From satellite facilities in Africa to China's rapidly expanding space infrastructure, Beijing is building an international network that could challenge decades of American technological dominance. In this video, we explore how China's space ambitions became a global geopolitical strategy, why countries are increasingly partnering with Beijing, and what this could mean for the future of American power. ✅ Join our new Locals Community here: https://cyrusjanssen.locals.com/ ✅ Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxEQsjgRRfGWiJJu_PDygxw/join -------------------------- If you'd like to support the channel / 如果你想支持我的频道: 🅿️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cyrusjanssen ☕ Buy me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/cyrusjanssen 🧧 WeChat / 微信: https://prnt.sc/u3inr6 ➡️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=8VB8979JHJ97W ₿ Bitcoin: 32go3tLiu88jibJhWgK3RstmXsW2FFELJ8 -------------------------- ✅ Subscribe to my newsletter: http://cyrusjanssen.substack.com ✅ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/cyrusjanssen?sub_confirmation=1 ✅ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cyrustalkschina ✅ Twitter: https://twitter.com/thecyrusjanssen ✅ 西瓜视频：https://www.ixigua.com/home/4468069057169668 ✅ B站视频：https://space.bilibili.com/1052709457 ✅ 抖音：@温哥华老外 -------------------------- 📸 Products I use to Produce my Vlogs: Camera: https://amzn.to/2M9pWqx Tripod: https://amzn.to/2OUz2dh Microphone: https://amzn.to/2u1oJNs Lighting: https://amzn.to/2UWkSw8 Drone: https://amzn.to/3jw1WxF #china #space #spacerace

#homoacceptatie #lhbtiq #queer #sport #voetbal #Nieuwsuur

From sleep trackers to self-pay bloodwork and full-body MRIs, health tracking has exploded in popularity. These tools promise to potentially catch diseases earlier, so that you can live a happier and healthier life. But can they deliver? This week, we’re turning the tables to interview Wirecutter Show co-host Christine Cyr Clisset about her six-month experiment tracking her health 24/7. She spent six months testing an array of Wirecutter-recommended wearables, as well as direct-to-consumer tests to see what, if anything, could help improve her health. We discuss the surprising insights she gained, as well as the significant perils of health tracking, from privacy risks to data-induced anxiety. This episode covers:  • What health and fitness trackers do best. Devices like the Oura Ring and Apple Watch can act as "accountability buddies" to help people change their daily habits.  • The pros and cons of self-pay tests. Many doctors don’t recommend self-pay bloodwork or full-body scans (like MRIs), because they can lead to overdiagnosis and health anxiety. Yet Christine found external bloodwork helpful (to an extent), as well as a DEXA scan, which helped flag her thinning bone mineral density..  • How AI can help. Christine found that feeding her various health reports into chatbots helped her come up with better questions for her doctors. • The risks of tracking. Tracking can cause data-induced anxiety. Plus, many wearables, apps, and AI tools fall outside HIPAA protection, which means your data may be used in ways you don’t want.  Products we recommend:  • A stylish wearable with tons of data: Oura Ring 4 (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/out/link/64926/221910/57/267279) • The best smartwatch for iPhone owners: Apple Watch SE (3rd generation) (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/out/link/74079/225192/57/267281) Additional reading: • The Promise and Peril of Tracking My Health 24/7 (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/advice/six-month-health-tracking-journey/?eafs_enabled=false?utm_source=the_wirecutter_show&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=episode_number_137) • The Best Sleep Trackers: Rings, Watches, and Other Wearables  (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-sleep-trackers/?eafs_enabled=false?utm_source=the_wirecutter_show&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=episode_number_137) • The 4 Best Fitness Trackers of 2026 (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-fitness-trackers/?eafs_enabled=false?utm_source=the_wirecutter_show&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=episode_number_137) • Can You Really Disappear Online?
