It's time to make some parts with the CNC machine out of aluminium plate, and combine those with 3D printed parts to make the openDog chassis. My open source robot dog project. There are studies linked below that demonstrate a tangible safety benefit of amber turn signals. You might want to check them out. Though it might be small, the benefit is demonstrably there. This has always bugged me, and no one talks about it. Our automotive lighting regulations in North America are stupid when it comes to tail lights. This video is about what is stupid, why it’s stupid, and what we could do about it. Here are some studies showing that amber turn signals are indeed safer: The following NHTSA study found between a 3 and 28% decrease in liklihood of collision with amber turn signals, although it acknowledges that some of this may have been related to simply having a separate indicator for braking and turning and not explicitly the color; https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.dot.gov/files/documents/811_037.pdf This study showed a significant descrease in reaction time to a brake signal when the vehicle is fitted with amber turn signals--partially explained by “Specifically, the subjects knew whether the red or the yellow turn signals were to be expected”. If there's one thing every woodworker makes multiple times it's picture frames. All of the cuts and profiles in this tutorial is done on the tablesaw and there's no need to use a router. Picture frames can be as simple as the ones in the above video or complex with inlays, layering and profiles. I personally like a simple frame to let the artwork or photograph be the highlight. In the video I go over multiple ways to strengthen mitered corners and how to cut perfect 45 degree miters. Making the frame is only half the battle. Photographs like to be mat and mounted so we also cover how to cut mat board with a mat cutter and how to professionally mount your artwork. I then show multiple ways of securing the artwork into the frame with point drivers and brad nails and then finish it off with a protective dust cover and picture frame wire. Successful picture frame making relies on three things; miters that add up to exactly 90 degrees, equal length pieces and strong joints that will last a lifetime.
