The Iraq Emergency Heritage Management Training Scheme is a programme funded by the UK government. The training consists of two months based in London at the British Museum, followed by two months of hands-on training at sites in Iraq. The participants are divided across two sites – Tello (ancient Girsu), a Sumerian site in the south of Iraq, and Darband-i Rania, a previously unexplored area of archaeological sites in the north. We have a block on an inclined plane again. This time, the plane is pushed by a horizontal force F. We need to find the required force such that the block does not accelerate with respect to the wedge. This problem seems very complicated, but we will see, that with our knowledge of Non inertial reference frames, we can solve this with ease.
In this video, we are going to solve another practice problem. The problem is to calculate the Normal force and acceleration of a block kept on a smooth inclined plane having an angle theta with respect to the horizontal. This is a great problem to check your understanding of your skills of vector resolution. So make sure you understand every inch of this video.

This tune is the hardest thing I have ever written, or attempted to play, or imagined existing on a guitar. I'm curious to see if anyone else can play it, so I've transcribed the guitar tab and instructions (all nineteen pages of it) and it's available from my website, and the first person to learn it to any vaguely OK-ish standard (as judged by me) wins my complete guitar pickup system - a Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend plus a Fishman BP100, total list price over $750. Submit your entry at http://jongomm.com/win Get the Tab or the single download or the full album "Live In The Acoustic Asylum" from http://jongomm.com This tune's title is a reference to Douglas Adams, The Secret Of Learning To Fly Is Forgetting To Hit The Ground, but that's a stupidly long title so I call it "Orville" for short. It's supposed to have a frenetic air and a ramshackle mechanical groove, capturing a desperate attempt at flight like that of an early biplane (like Orville Wright’s) or a baby bird (like Orville The Duck), until the very ending of the song, when it finally takes flight. ------------------------ Here's all the awesome gear I use to create music. Sony's portable battery-powered PS-F9 turntable from 1983 has become a highly desired and expensive collectors piece. However before I can demonstrate this one, I'll need to get it working. Oh and I’m pretty sure they were supposed to name it The Peacock (which makes more sense), but something got lost in translation. Sony Global Design History Pages https://www.sony.net/Fun/design/history/index.html Ebay (well it doesn't cost anything to look) PS-F5 http://ebay.to/2jBcaTl PS-F9 http://ebay.to/2mzsrJF UPDATE: After uploading the video, it occurred to to that Sony have in fact revisited their back catalogue recently with the re-launch of the Aibo robotic dog. Hopefully this will continue and we'll get to see some more modern reinterpretations of classic Sony products. OMISSION: I forgot to mention that I pulled out any remnants of the old felt washer that was protruding from between the cogs before installing my replacement cloth tape. Also perhaps I should have clarified that the gears unit was welded on at both ends, there were no retaining washers or e-clips that could be removed to disassemble it..and to everyone who told me I'd knackered it up, it's still working perfectly six years later and can be seen playing records in numerous subsequent videos. Lots of people wanted me to say the word *Clutch* to describe the gears mechanism as if this will fill a void...so here we go: CLUTCH I suspect nothing in the universe has changed. Here's the adhesive you are going to need to perform this fix: https://amzn.to/2qo3gw7 Here's how to fix a loose, sloppy or steering wheel with excessive play in case that the cause of the problem is in your steering shaft. In my last video I have shown you how to rebuild your steering rack and get rid of steering play in case the rack is the cause. Here's that video: https://youtu.be/4SrwZ73QZSM This time we are looking at the steering shaft. The steering shaft actually has rubber sandwiched between two of its parts. The task of this rubber is to absorb vibrations picked up by your wheels and transferred through your rack to your steering wheel. Unfortunately as your car ages this rubber deteriorates and causes steering wheel play. The problem is that there is not replacement part for the rubber and you need to buy the entire steering shaft. This of course is not sensible. Many car owners resort to welding the two parts of the shaft together, but this results in a lot of vibrations in your steering wheel. The solution I have used is to remove the lower part of the steering shaft, clean it up with a wire wheel and then add some new rubber to the shaft. I have used windshield adhesive which is very durable and stiff so its and ideal replacement for the rubber in the steering wheel shaft. Many people use 3M window weld, but any windshield adhesive will work fine. Once the windshield adhesive cures completely your steering wheel will be play free and good as new. Poème symphonique (1962) is a piece for 100 metronomes by Hungarian composer György Ligeti. I got a chance to perform the poème symphonique at Ableton’s music conference Loop in Berlin last week! Ligeti's music is interesting, because it's both instantly accessible (weird spooky film music!) and also impenetrably dense. This is one of the harder pieces to "get," but I really enjoyed my experience. Please do check out these full performances of the piece below! We are huge fans of the show Narcos so while we were in Medellin, we had to get a tour of where some of the most intense days in Colombia history took place...Pablo Escobar's Prison, La Catedral, as well as the place he was killed. It was a surreal experience, but what made it even crazier was that our tour guide himself was involved in drug dealing in the past and had an inside look at what this life is like. Last week I posed a video talking about underlying patterns that you can find in 3nps scale shapes on the guitar neck. This led to some really interesting conversations with people about which shapes I prefer, and specifically whether CAGED is better or worse than 3 notes per string scales. These are my musings on the subject - see what you think!

Some people suggest they may be a better fit on Brady's dedicated physics channel (called Sixty Symbols). In response, the reasons they are on Numberphile are: 1) Tadashi, while certainly a modern polymath, is based in a mathematics department. 2) This sub series (with its animation and extra production work) has been supported by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, a Numberphile collaborator. 3) Some of the previous and future Tadashi videos are more math-oriented than physics - and it just makes sense to put them on one channel rather than dividing the series between two channels on an ad hoc basis. In a multi-disciplinary world, it is challenging to run YouTube channels which people come to associate with just one discipline. That said, feel free to go over and watch hundreds of physics videos on Sixty Symbols --- https://www.youtube.com/sixtysymbols

KLM banned former pilot Willem Felderhof, in a non-disclosure clause, from ever discussing the presence of toxic fumes on board airplanes. The pilot suffers from headaches, disrupted balance and delayed response times. His neurologist is convinced that Felderhof’s symptoms are caused by what’s known as ‘aerotoxic syndrome’, because of which he is no longer able to fly. When his contract was terminated, KLM drew up detailed non-disclosure clauses. Felderhof is prohibited from offering “his opinion, his views and the facts regarding the air quality in KLM airliners in connection with his health condition, employment conditions and ‘aerotoxic syndrome’.” Should Felderhof breach the clause, the penalty compels him to refund his severance pay of €300.000 to KLM.
Airline EasyJet is involved in a legal battle with France’s internal safety commission. This commission wants to start an investigation into toxins aboard airplanes. The airline is trying to stop the investigation through the courts. ZEMBLA is in possession of the writ and talked to members of the commission. Meanwhile, EasyJet recently announced they will be installing filters in planes. In ZEMBLA, EasyJet responds on camera for the first time. EasyJet medical advisor Tim Stevenson: “We do not acknowledge there is a long-term health issue.”
