Tramlijn 26 rijdt vanaf vandaag verder IJburg in. De lijn is met twee kilometer verlengd en heeft drie splinternieuwe haltes op Centrumeiland en Strandeiland. In nog geen vijfentwintig minuten reis je nu van Centraal Station naar Strandeiland. Als er geen problemen zijn natuurlijk, want hoewel de extra haltes goed nieuws zijn voor de mensen die daar wonen en werken. Bij veel reizigers is de vrees dat de langere lijn voor nog meer problemen kan zorgen op de al kwetsbare tramroute. De verlenging van de tramlijn liet iets langer op zich wachten dan gepland. De ingebruikname stond oorspronkelijk gepland voor december vorig jaar, maar werd meerdere keren uitgesteld door problemen met onder andere de stroomvoorziening. Vanaf vandaag kunnen reizigers eindelijk gebruikmaken van het nieuwe traject. Hoewel Strand- en Centrumeiland volgens de gemeente ruim 20.000 mensen moet gaan huisvesten, wordt er momenteel nog volop gebouwd en wonen er nu nog nauwelijks mensen. Op de nieuwe tramhaltes was het dan ook erg rustig, vertelt een trammachinist: ‘’Ik ben er blij mee, hartstikke mooi’’, zegt hij. Wel kwamen er vandaag enkele ‘tramspotters’ speciaal naar IJburg om de uitbreiding van de lijn te bekijken. De tramliefhebbers stonden met camera in hand klaar om het nieuwe traject te fotograferen. "Ik denk dat het goed is voor de bewoners hier", zegt een van hen. Uitbreiding Toch is niet iedereen positief over de uitbreiding van de tramlijn. Een bewoner van Zeeburgereiland, maakt zich zorgen over de gevolgen van de langere route. "Het grote probleem is dat veel mensen er afhankelijk van zijn en als er verstoringen zijn hebben bewoners geen alternatief”, zegt hij. Na de voormalige eindhalte IJburg, die voortaan Theo van Goghpark heet, stopt lijn 26 op drie nieuwe plekken. De drie nieuwe haltes zijn Centrumeiland, Buiteneilandlaan en Franz Kafkasstraat. It was reported that the attraction had 2,616,389 riders in 1933 and a total of about 4.5 million during the course of the fair. It was demolished at the conclusion of the fair. Een rioolbuis aan de Zuiderzeeweg is vannacht geknapt. Daardoor liep er tot vanochtend 7.15 uur rioolwater in het water van de Weersloot in Noord. Het Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier voert het vervuilde water af via een grote omweg richting een installatie in de noordelijk gelegen wijk Kadoelen. Het kan meerdere dagen duren voordat het rioolwater weg is.De rioolbuis van de gemeente is geknapt ter hoogte van de Gruttobrug, bij de A10 afslag Schellingerwoude. Het water in de aanliggende sloot is daardoor vannacht vuilig grijs geworden. Ook stinkt het naar rioollucht. Het slootwater loopt in verschillende watertjes door een groot deel van Noord. Het lek is inmiddels afgesloten, maar het kan nog 2 tot 3 dagen duren voordat het vieze water helemaal weg is gepompt. Wel wordt het vervuilde water verdund door de regen. Het vervuilde water wordt via Zwartegouw, Buikslotermeerdijk, onder de N247 door naar het gemaal Kadoelen. Die installatie in Noord verwerkt het vervuilde water. Niet vissen Het Hoogheemraadschap adviseert mensen in het gebied niet te zwemmen, te vissen of het water op een andere manier te gebruiken. Ook kunnen huisdieren er niet meer in zwemmen. In een bericht aan bewoners van het aangrenzende tuinpark Tuinwijck wordt opgeroepen het vieze water niet te baggeren. Hoeveel vissen er zijn gestorven kon een woordvoerder van Waternet nog niet zeggen. ''Maar het is inderdaad slecht voor de gezondheid van vissen'', zegt hij. Op dit moment worden er monsters afgenomen van het vervuilde water, ook om te kijken welk gebied vervuild is. Ook de oorzaak van het springen van de leiding is nog onduidelijk. Waternet doet de aankomende tijd onderzoek naar de breuk. The blackout ground the city to a halt, trapping residents in their apartments, forcing the closure of many businesses and leading to fuel shortages at gas stations. Officials in Indiana estimate the storm might have caused up to $5 billion in damage in Gary and other communities. "We're still in the recovery phase, as we speak," says Gary Mayor Eddie Melton, who underscores that "hardening the infrastructure" should be a priority for the NIPSCO utility company. More than 4,200 people are missing in Nepal and hundreds more in Tibet. Families are searching hospitals for loved ones, and crews have buried hundreds of unidentified bodies in shallow graves. Rescue efforts are also underway for more than 900 hydropower workers, believed to be trapped in more than a dozen underground tunnels blocked by debris. The cause of the flash flooding is believed to have been the collapse of a glacier in the mountains, leading a wave of water, rocks and debris to carve its way through the valley.
