I like to work around my car, but 3 smartphones became collateral damage to my hobby so far. After braking the last one I got sick of it and after doing some research I went for it and bought the CAT S30. The CAT S30 is a rugged entry level smartphone, the CAT S60 's cheaper cousin. I was actually were reluctant to buy it because of its mediocre resolution, processor and internal memory specs, but I decided to go for it and have a phone that can allegedly handle anything. The CAT S30 actually has some incredible claims, not only is it resistant to being dropped on concrete from 1.8 meters, but it's supposed to be resistant to grease and oil too. I decided to put that to the test and make a video of it, as well as some other cool features of the phone. I killed my last three phones within a few months. Had this one for almost a year now and love it to bits. I had to constantly worry where I put my other smartphones and remind myself to keep them out of my pocket and somewhere safe when I'm crouching and getting under the car. Broke my last one just by having it in my back pocket and crouching. I am not sponsored in any way by cat and just wanted to share this with fellow car guys. Anyone who often works around their car should honestly get this, it was genuinely liberating for me. Check out my blog for more: http://www.driving4answers.com/ #d4a #cats30
Power Drift for the Amstrad CPC is a port of Sega's 1988 arcade game based on their Y Hardware. The arcade features some impressive sprite scaling methods and intense visuals, but this 8 bit port actually doesn't fare too badly. It's visually sound. It's fast and mostly, it's quite a playable game. Let's delve in. ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! Some people suggest they may be a better fit on Brady's dedicated physics channel (called Sixty Symbols). In response, the reasons they are on Numberphile are: 1) Tadashi, while certainly a modern polymath, is based in a mathematics department. 2) This sub series (with its animation and extra production work) has been supported by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, a Numberphile collaborator. 3) Some of the previous and future Tadashi videos are more math-oriented than physics - and it just makes sense to put them on one channel rather than dividing the series between two channels on an ad hoc basis. In a multi-disciplinary world, it is challenging to run YouTube channels which people come to associate with just one discipline. That said, feel free to go over and watch hundreds of physics videos on Sixty Symbols --- https://www.youtube.com/sixtysymbols

You can support this channel on Patreon! Link below In this video we discuss the Dolby Noise Reduction systems found in consumer cassettes decks and how they work. Though technically very simple, Dolby B noise reduction provides a very effective means of reducing audible tape noise, and was ubiquitous throughout the cassette's life. Dolby noise reduction was such an important part of their legacy that the company still pays homage to it in their logo. The "D"s in the Dolby Double D logo are really the shape of audio tape heads. Guitar Tab finally available for this song at http://jongomm.com/guitar-tabs Every technique is explained. It’s a complete walkthrough guide to the song. High And Dry is the 7th video from from the Acoustic Asylum series. Get the song and album and Pay What You Want from http://jongomm.com/music Also on iTunes http://j.mp/iTunesGomm or Google Play http://j.mp/GooGom or Amazon http://j.mp/AmzGomUSA I've been playing this song for the best part of two decades. For my very oldest fans and friends, this is the one they think of when they think of me, even though it's a cover. I love the song deeply. I’ve always been convinced it’s about Gene Kelly's character in the movie "Viva Kneivel!", an alcoholic ex-stunt motorcyclist. Performance wise, this arrangement channels Michael Hedges maybe more than anything else I've ever come up with. Not just the guitar techniques, but the vocal, even the bare feet. I've played it better than this, but I've played it worse. It's kinda slow: I was a bit bipolar, so I'm dragging it back, fighting myself, and I probably over-compensated. Maybe that makes it me. ___________________ Here's all the awesome gear I use to create music. We had to figure out how to pop it back in on the side of a trail. Since then, Alex’s main goal has been to not fuck his shoulder up. I slowed down, Alex wasn’t near his brake levers, and you know the rest of the story. Collisions are always worse for the rider at the back. Luckily we’d be back on the road after a breather. Time to get moving again. We needed to find a campsite and bad. Deep in the keys, there’s no such thing as motels, only beach resorts. One night’s sleep for a king’s ransom was out of the question. He didn’t have to tell us twice. It was too dark to get any meaningful footage, but I did get some stills. We pitched Alex's backpacking tent and laid head to toe like sardines. It was damp, hot, and god forbid one of us passed gas there was no breeze. It's a miracle either of us slept, but outside the tent was a hungry cloud of mosquitos waiting to chew our balls off. Alex and I share a distain for mosquitos and a love of coffee, so at the crack of dawn we efficiently dismantled our campsite and got the f*ck out of there as fast as possible. We barely even noticed the amazing waterfront view. After drinking coffee and scarfing down bagels, we stopped at the gas station for PRD’s. It was there that I shot this video with my cell phone to send to a friend. When installing my rack I ended up with some extra hardware, which I stashed in my patch kit just in case. I’m glad I did, because we were about to brave the final challenge of the journey; the Seven Mile Bridge. You can take a wild guess at how long that is. With some of the best scenery in the keys, it’s easy to imagine the motorists instagramming instead of driving. What's worse, the shoulder was littered with debris. If either of us flatted, it would be a terrifying repair. Aside from the speeding cars and crappy surface, the 7 mile bridge was pretty spectacular. The adjacent bridge was built in the early 20th century as part of the overseas railway. It's still open to pedestrians, although they can't make it all the way across. There was light at the end of the tunnel. We pressed on, and stopped about 20 miles from Key West to fuel up. It was there that we met this guy. With a fresh six pack and lit cigarette, he tore ass down the greenway on his lithium ion tricycle. For all we knew, he was the richest man on the planet. We set out again, but didn't get far. 15 miles from Key West, Alex's tire finally flatted. But get this, it wasn't our sidewall repair that gave out! Still, it was time to say goodbye to this old Panaracer. We had only 15 miles left, but it felt like 100. Our taints were in critical condition. We were taking breaks to coast standing up. The gruel was real. It didn't feel real. On Wednesday morning we left my house in Fort Lauderdale on our bicycles, to find ourselves 90 miles from Cuba two days later. Alex had the sense to bring flip flops. I actually got up during our meal and bought flip flops at the adjacent store—the cheapest ones they had were $40, but taking off my shoes was priceless. We pedaled to Key West for the experience—the journey. Maybe it wasn't the most enjoyable journey, but we had a lot to show for it. You learn the most when you encounter some adversity. You’ll never tell an interesting story about the time you rode the bike lane without incident, or the time you reserved a campsite and stayed there without a problem. Whether you’re a mountain biker, a road biker, hiker, a climber, or whatever, it really is about the journey and the things you encounter along the way. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time. The Amstrad CPC Story begins way back in 1947, with the birth of Alan Michael Sugar. We then meander through Alan Sugar's early working career, the start of his trading business, AMS Trading, and then the formation of Amstrad. From there, between stereos and CB radios we land with the fabulous Amstrad CPC464 in 1984. A machine often cast aside as an "also ran", but in reality, anything but. Selling some 2 million machines, it comes in third place behind the Sinclair Spectrum and Commodore 64, but dominated in parts of Europe. So, let us delve in to the Amstrad and Amstrad CPC story concentrating mainly on the early days of Amstrad and the launch of the Amstrad CPC464 Home Computer... Another Amstrad CPC 464 classic. This time, Roland in the Caves. A 1984 game published by Amsoft and developed by Indescomp which bundled with the CPC 464's introductory software pack (worth a reported £100!). The premise is you have crash landed on a planet, you've turned into a flea, fallen down a cave and need to get out by hopping left and right. Oh, also there's a pterodactyl down the cave. Seems legit. ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! In partnership with the British Museum, Manchester Museum and their community partner Community on Solid Ground have been working collaboratively on the first non-London Object Journeys project. In this film, hear from those involved in the project about their experiences of both working with the Museum’s collections and how this connects to making their own objects. Community on Solid Ground are also running their own Heritage Lottery Funded community project called Traditional Best Times of South Asian Women which aims to capture, recreate and then retain the hobbies and past times of South Asian Women. Both projects provide the opportunity for inter-generational learning within the group and for the wider community to learn about South Asian traditions. Embroidery and traditional textile adornment techniques have been specifically interesting to the group and they have chosen three Pakistani textiles from the British Museum to be showcased alongside objects from the Manchester Museum collection in a co-created display. The display opens on the 3rd February 2017 in the Living Cultures Gallery of Manchester Museum (http://www.museum.manchester.ac.uk/collection/livingcultures/). Object Journeys is a community collaboration project at the British Museum and UK partner museums that is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. http://objectjourneys.britishmuseum.org/

These active speakers contain a phono stage so they can be connected directly up to a turntable without an in-built phono stage. ....CONTINUED.... This means fewer wires and power plugs. QUESTIONS Where are the camera reviews? Apologies to the people looking for new camera reviews - due to a run of ill health and bad weather I've been unable to get out and shoot the footage I need to finish off a couple of these videos - hopefully I'll get them done soon. Where is the Minidisc video? Back in January on the DAT video I mentioned that MD was going to be the subject of a future video. These format videos take me months to assemble so the MD one should be along *sometime later this year*...probably within a couple of months. Where are the puppets? I try to make one of the muppet outros a month, but they don't fit in with every video, so I wait until a suitable subject comes along that could benefit from their input. Where are the Outro Videos? In this playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN2yCnHTG_6rlyYFpwUX2u0m_HVHpHO0F What's that black turntable? The black turntable I used in the video is a Pro-ject RPM 1.3 Genie (It’s my old turntable and I don’t recommend it. Here's my 'review' I really don't like it...it's been in the attic for a couple of years. It's too flimsy, every part on it moves whether it's supposed to or not, it cost me too much, is susceptible to picking up hum, it has a stupid anti-skating weight hanging on a piece of string that falls off all the time, the belt gets knocked off easily and is a hassle to put back on. I was so happy to replace it with my retro automatic Sansui XR-Q7, one of the best automatic direct drive turntables ever made and it cost me less than the Pro-ject RPM 1.3 Genie. I only kept this abomination in the off-chance that I might be able to use it in a future video. It does look good though - I'll give it that. Why not use classical music if you want to play something that's copyright free? Because it's not necessarily copyright free. Ok so Mozart and Beethoven are dead...but if an orchestra gets together in the Albert Hall and together with recording engineers record some of their music and put it out on a CD then that *recording* is copyright. They spent considerable money, time and effort to make that, so deserve to earn some money for it. Mozart might get jack-all but somebody who spent twenty years learning to play the violin and the record company and engineers etc etc all need to get paid. I once tried to use a section of Ode to joy - Beethoven symphony No. 9 and the video was auto-flagged for copyright infringement within seconds of being uploaded. This is why I WILL BE ORDERING A CUSTOM VINYL RECORD consisting of music from the youtube audio library https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music from a company like http://vinylify.com at my earliest convenience. -------------SUPPORT--------------- This channel can be supported through Patreon https://www.patreon.com/techmoan Patrons usually have early access to videos ---------------SUBSCRIBE------------------ http://www.youtube.com/user/Techmoan?sub_confirmation=1 -----INTRO----- Special thanks to Jerobeam Fenderson for the intro animation. http://oscilloscopemusic.com ----INFO---- Amazon Links are affiliated. After fighting traffic, glass, mechanical problems, and bad luck, we had no choice but to crash at a motel in Homestead. Awake and ready to make up for lost time, Alex and I set a goal of 80 miles for day two. That would put us in Marathon, about 50 miles from Key West. Almost immediately, Alex’s tire came back to haunt us. We thought we saw a Walmart, but it ended up just being a grocery store. It turned out that they wouldn’t have had a tire anyway. After searching the inventory of every big box store we could think of, we discovered that nobody carries anything narrower than 32. To get to a real bike shop, one of us would need to backtrack for 10 miles, buy a tire, and ride 10 miles South again to make the repair—that is after waiting for the shop to open. We decided to take our chances with an emergency sidewall repair. For the rest of the transcript, just turn on closed captions.
