Tussen de Dam en het Homomonument liggen sinds kort 52 bronzen tegels in de grond. Het vormt de zogenoemde Walk of Pride. Op iedere tegel is een uitleg te vinden over een persoon die veel heeft betekend voor de emancipatie van de queer-gemeenschap. Jillis Bruggeman werd in 1803 opgehangen voor het stadhuis van Schiedam, de doodstraf. Justitie had in de gaten gekregen dat hij seksuele relaties had gehad met mannen. Jillis probeerde nog te vluchten, maar werd uiteindelijk toch gearresteerd. 'Vuyle ontugt', luidt de officiële aanklacht. De tegel met het verhaal van Jillis is de eerste die je tegenkomt tijdens de Walk of Pride. Hij was zeker niet de eerste die geëxecuteerd is vanwege diens seksualiteit, gelukkig wel de laatste. Het moet een blijvende herinnering zijn aan degenen die zich hebben ingezet voor de rechten van de queergemeenschap. En ook om mensen over het verleden op de hoogte te brengen, zodat het niet opnieuw herhaald wordt. "We hebben gezeten met achttien queer-organisaties en iedereen heeft zijn eigen helden gekozen", zegt Richard Keldoulis, een van de initiatiefnemers. "Zo zijn we bij deze selectie gekomen." Hij vervolgt: "Het is belangrijk dat mensen weten dat bijvoorbeeld homoseksualiteit, transgenders, interseksualiteit. Dat het allemaal al lang bestond in de geschiedenis." De Walk of Pride is een geschenk aan de stad vanwege de World Pride dit jaar. De tegels blijven minimaal nog tien jaar liggen. "Maar hopelijk wat langer", stelt Keldoulis. "Er is veel homofobie, iedereen in de gemeenschap voelt het. Urban festival Vunzige Deuntjes vierde dit weekend zijn eerste editie als zelfstandig muziekevenement. Lang was onzeker of het zou blijven bestaan, omdat het grote internationale moederbedrijf Superstruct het festival wilde schrappen. De organisatie heeft zichzelf kunnen terugkopen en met hulp van veel vrijwilligers werd het toch weer een feestje in het Amsterdamse Bos. Na maandenlange onzekerheid stroomden dit weekend duizenden bezoekers binnen. Tot hun opluchting lukte het de organisatie zich los te koppelen van moederbedrijven ID&T en Superstruct. Ze konden een doorstart maken door zichzelf terug te kopen. "Het is een traditie geworden om bij Vunzige Deuntjes te zijn", vertelt een bezoeker. "We zijn elk jaar hier, wij zijn trouwe supporters, respect dat ze hebben doorgezet." Ook festivaldirecteur Arend Wortmann is ontzettend blij dat ze het hiphopfeest hebben kunnen redden. Ze hebben veel support gehad van leveranciers die hen ruim de tijd gaven met betalen en ook van medewerkers die zich veelal op vrijwillige basis hebben ingezet om het festival mogelijk te maken. "We hebben gewoon in een hele rare tijd gezeten. We hadden zakelijke hoofdpijn. Maar we kunnen door en onze prioriteit is dit jaar een goed festival neerzetten. En daar ben ik trots op." Een grote menigte mensen heeft zich buiten verzameld bij een festival of evenement, met tenten en bomen op de achtergrond. De meeste mensen staan, sommigen houden een drankje vast, en het lijkt mooi weer te zijn. Vorig jaar kwam het internationale Superstruct in opspraak nadat bekend werd dat het banden onderhoudt met Israëlische bedrijven die schadelijk zouden zijn voor Palestina. Artiesten zegden daarop massaal hun optredens op festivals als Zwarte Cross en Milkshake af. Daarnaast veranderde Superstruct van koers en schrapte het kleinere festivals zoals Open Air en Vunzige Deuntjes. Aan de muur hangen twee posters die reclame maken voor Zomer in De Kleine Komedie, met informatie over het evenement in het Nederlands. Boven de deurklink hangt een groen bord. Een breed scala aan langere, maar ook hele snelle raadsels en moppen zijn aan de andere kant van de lijn te beluisteren wanneer je de Geinlijn belt. Het is niet met een groter doel, gewoon voor een glimlach voor wie dat kan gebruiken, zegt artistiek leider Floor Nicolas van De Kleine Komedie. Het gratis telefoonnummer is al meer dan duizend keer gebeld op de eerste dag, vertelt Nicolas. En wie je dan aan de lijn krijgt? "Bijvoorbeeld Kasper van der Laan, Youp van 't Hek of Sara Kroos", legt ze uit. "Het zijn eigenlijk de spelers van de komedie." Wie nog niet gevraagd is om een mop in te lezen is Arie van de Velden, de bekende moppentapper van Café De Amstel. Hij bundelde zijn moppen in een boek en verkoopt theaterzalen uit tegenwoordig, maar hij kreeg nog geen belletje van De Kleine Komedie. Maar Floor Nicolas vertelt op beeld: "Het proces loopt nog, dus stuur maar in Arie." Geheim van een goede mop In zijn kroeg vertelt hij wat de kracht van een goede mop is. "Het moet vooral een beetje een verhaaltje zijn", legt Van de Velden uit. Ook moet je je publiek zorgvuldig kiezen en ook is niet elke grap voor elke toehoorder. Na een paar keer met de Geinlijn gebeld te hebben weet Arie één ding: hij vindt zijn eigen moppen zeker een meerwaarde voor de lijn. Het idee van deze telefoonlijn is overigens niet nieuw. Een 020-nummer speciaal voor de moppenliefhebber. De Kleine Komedie is in de zomer dicht en opent daarom de Geinlijn. Wie belt krijgt van een bekende Nederlandse cabaretier een mop te horen. Een bakstenen gebouw met een raam en een deur met witte kozijnen. Aan de muur hangen twee posters die reclame maken voor Zomer in De Kleine Komedie, met informatie over het evenement in het Nederlands. Boven de deurklink hangt een groen bord. Een breed scala aan langere, maar ook hele snelle raadsels en moppen zijn aan de andere kant van de lijn te beluisteren wanneer je de Geinlijn belt. Het is niet met een groter doel, gewoon voor een glimlach voor wie dat kan gebruiken, zegt artistiek leider Floor Nicolas van De Kleine Komedie. Het gratis telefoonnummer is al meer dan duizend keer gebeld op de eerste dag, vertelt Nicolas. En wie je dan aan de lijn krijgt? "Bijvoorbeeld Kasper van der Laan, Youp van 't Hek of Sara Kroos", legt ze uit. "Het zijn eigenlijk de spelers van de komedie." Wie nog niet gevraagd is om een mop in te lezen is Arie van de Velden, de bekende moppentapper van Café De Amstel. Hij bundelde zijn moppen in een boek en verkoopt theaterzalen uit tegenwoordig, maar hij kreeg nog geen belletje van De Kleine Komedie. Maar Floor Nicolas vertelt op beeld: "Het proces loopt nog, dus stuur maar in Arie." Geheim van een goede mop In zijn kroeg vertelt hij wat de kracht van een goede mop is. "Het moet vooral een beetje een verhaaltje zijn", legt Van de Velden uit. Ook moet je je publiek zorgvuldig kiezen en ook is niet elke grap voor elke toehoorder. Na een paar keer met de Geinlijn gebeld te hebben weet Arie één ding: hij vindt zijn eigen moppen zeker een meerwaarde voor de lijn. Het idee van deze telefoonlijn is overigens niet nieuw.
