What were indulgences in the Catholic Church? Do Catholics believe you earn salvation or that you can buy salvation with an indulgence? This video explains the Catholic teaching on Purgatory, the merit of good works, and the cycle of penance and good works that formed medieval Catholicism. We also discuss how indulgences were rejected by Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. In this episode of riding with Seth, we're live from Moab, Utah! We'll take a look at a few clips from Moab, and see who I've been riding with this week. After riding Porcupine Rim (The Half Enchilada), Slickrock, and Bartlett open riding area, I got sick. This was a huge bummer, but luckily we still have a totally ridiculous amount of footage (330 Gigabytes so far). Feeling congested with a sore throat, I decided that dirt jumps would be a great idea since they don't involve a lot of cardio. Needless to say I was off my game a bit. After going straight for the jumps on a BMX, I squirreled out on the last one and landed directly on my knee. It seems okay, but it'll be another week or so before I pedal a bike. Atari Games, were literally the creators of Atari Games, in the guise of Atari arcade games. You see, back in the 70s, Atari was one company, but as we get to the mid 80s, it's ownership split. The consumer division was bought by Jack Tramiel (of Commodore fame), whilst the arcade games division went in a separate direction. Last week we explored the consumer division of Atari, whilst this week's video game documentary is looking at the arcade division, Atari Games. Growing up, my sister had a unicycle. She didn't know how to ride it and neither did I. As far as we knew, it was completely impossible to ride. Fast forward about 20 years, and i now know how to ride a unicycle. I learned in about an hour. Maybe I’m more coordinated now, or maybe I have an easier time wrapping my head around the concept. Maybe I just have a longer attention span. Whatever the reason, I only learned to ride recently, so the learning process is still fresh in my mind. Here are the ten key things that I learned. First of all, forget free mounting. That's when you try to start riding without holding on to something. This is for after you learn how to balance on a unicycle, so save it for later. Wasting your time on free mounting before you can ride will only hold you back. Second, forget about idling. That's when you kinda rock back and forth to stand in place. I still haven't learned how to do this, but I couldn’t imagine it being the first thing I learned. Riding forwards and staying up will be your first goal. Third, adjust the seat at a medium height, not all the way up like you would on a bike. This will allow you to move around a bit and keep your balance. It’ll also be a little easier on your—parts. Fourth, keep the tires at a medium pressure. Of course you don't want them super mushy, but you also don't want them rock solid like a road bike. This delays the movements of the unicycle slightly and makes it easier to balance on. Fifth, find a wide open area with something to hold on to. This hockey rink is where I learned to stay up, as there's plenty of space and a barrier for support. The space must be sufficiently large because you’re going to be going all over the place once you learn to stay up. Sixth, scoot along a fence or wall, holding on. This helps you get comfortable sitting on the unicycle and pealing. As you scoot along, try to direct yourself away from the wall and attempt to stay up. This is something you’ll need to do repeatedly to finally learn. Seventh, keep your eyes straight ahead. You'll have a natural tendency to look down, but that'll only make you fall down instantly. Imagine how disorienting it would be to run while looking straight down. Runners look straight ahead and so do unicyclists. Number 8: Flail your arms around to keep your balance. Someone told me this in the comments of a video and I thought they were kidding. Your arms will be key in keeping your balance when you first start out, and as dumb as it looks, it works. As you get more comfortable you can ride along with your hands at your side, but this might take a little time. Number 9: Lean forwards. The unicycle should be tilted in the direction you want to ride. By pedaling forwards you keep the unicycle from falling over. This takes some commitment at first, and maybe even some time to wrap your head around, but it’s the key to actually making some distance. If you throw your weight too far forwards you can always just step off on to the ground. It’s when you don’t lean forwards that you end up falling off the back and getting hurt. Number 10: Hold your back straight. If you’re flopping around everywhere, you’re not going to be able to hold your balance. This is one of the reasons unicycling is such a good core workout. Your torso is your center of gravity, which your arms, legs, and unicycle will move around to stay balanced. Now that you know these ten tips, you should be up and riding within an hour or two. If you practice for a while and get nowhere, put it down and try again the next day. Riding a unicycle is a matter of learning to stay up through trial and error, and then doing it enough times to burn it into your brain. Just like riding a bike, you’ll never forget how. Techmoan is a tech and entertainment channel and does not make sponsored videos. -----------FAQs----------- Q) Can it play Video? A) Not in the way a home cinema projector plays videos - however pre-recorded line drawn animations are a possibility with the right player software. Here’s an example https://twitter.com/marcan42/status/776462775505694720 Q) Can you use it to play Oscilloscope demos? A) Yes with the right software this could work as a giant oscilloscope display. Q) What kind of games could you display on a laser projector? A) There is a limitation to the number of lines that can be shown at any one time - however here is a demonstration of a simple laser game https://youtu.be/7WQV_62BP_U Q) Can you put the handle/mount on upside-down? A) Yes it can be unscrewed and put back on the bottom...however there is absolutely no point as the image can be flipped in software and when the handle is on the bottom it won't move fully forward or back, so the LaserDock will no longer fit in its case. Q) Why was this video uploaded twice? A) Somehow the first upload of this video got corrupted on youtube so it had to be re-uploaded. It takes a while to upload & process a 5GB file, the video was not available during this period. Q) Actually...I think you'll find that it's not the "worlds first"....blah blah blah.. A) The title of this video contains a quote (identifiable by the quote marks) from here http://www.wickedlasers.com/laserdock Take up any grievances you have with them. Q) What is the point of the Interlock? A) The item provided in the box is a simple wire bridge between two points - this can be extended out to a separate switch used to deactivate the projector remotely (as projectors are commonly installed out of reach they could be difficult to turn off) - here is an example of a switch http://en.beglec.com/product/4210/Laser-Interlock Q) What do the FDA have to do with approving a laser device for use in the USA? A) Here's the appropriate page on their website http://www.fda.gov/radiation-emittingproducts/radiationemittingproductsandprocedures/homebusinessandentertainment/laserproductsandinstruments/default.htm Q) What do the insides look like? A) This: https://c1.iggcdn.com/indiegogo-media-prod-cld/image/upload/c_limit,w_620/v1471818472/cknlakmujkakcvt1qtyw.jpg For more technical info and support - visit the Reddit Sub https://www.reddit.com/r/laserdock ------AFFLIATED LINKS/ADVERTISING NOTICE------- All links are Affiliated where possible. Overlander for the Atari ST was part of the 20 game Powerpack, shipped with all STs from 1989 onwards, however it was originally developed by Elite Systems Ltd as a clone of Atari Games' Roadblaster cabinet. It's a reasonable copy, but it's pretty darn hard and I never got far playing it on my 520STfm, ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! Here's a quick and simple little video on how to bleed your clutch and brakes. Not the best video I made but it will do for what its goal is. In my rebuild I came to a point where I had to bleed the clutch and the two person method failed for me. I think there is air in either the slave or master cyilinders that is very difficult to get out just by pumping the pedal. So I researched a bit on how to do this by yourself and make it foolproof. I realized that the pressure bleeding method is the solution. So I googled around to buy a product, but gave up when I saw the prices. 50-60 $ for a plastic bucket and some hose. No, thanks. I decided to build my own pressure clutch and brake bleeding device for less than 10 $. Check out the video to see how to do it. The Atari ST is a machine which emerged in 1985 and immediately went head to head with the Amiga 1000. The Atari ST is known for Games, music, desktop publishing and in a lot of cases, being a poorer version of the Amiga, but that's not always the case, and to begin with the ST outsold the Amiga by a fair margin. It comes in many forms, The Atari STFM, Atari STE, even the follow up, the Atari Falcon. In this video we'll explore them all, along with Atari ST Games, Atari ST Music and the story of Commodore, Atari, Tramel Technology and the man himself, Jack Tramiel, who left Commodore, bought Atari and went head to head with his former company in the epic 80s battle of the first 16 bit home computers. Reasons to watch; 80s Computers, Atari and Amiga, the 16 bit era, if you want to learn more about Atari or Amiga in the 80s, if you want some Atari ST demos, if you're looking for an Atari documentary or just an Atari ST review. Shirts! https://bermpeak.com/collections/casual-apparel Here we have the Trek 4900. This one gets asked about a lot since it was in so many of my early videos. It now belongs to my sister Emily, and still runs great. From the Rock Shocks recon suspension fork, to the DNM dropper post, to the Deore XT derailleur, everything on the bike is an upgrade. Oh except the headset bearing cups, those are original. The great thing about the Trek is that it's super light, and capable of taking bad beating, as we've seen. Since I credit this bike with the start of my YouTube channel, it will always stay in the family, and I’ll always keep it running no matter what. Next is my hardtail, which is a Diamondback Sync'r Pro. Although this bike was given to me by Diamondback, I was never paid or contracted to endorse it. The Sync'r Pro is the top tier bike in their Hook, Line, and Sync'r series, which means there are 3 less expensive bikes you can get that look and feel very similar to it. The Sync'r Pro is an all mountain hardtail, which means it's slack, aggressive, and not particularly light. I have broken nothing on the Sync’r but the chain and one of the tires. Both tires have been replaced with 2.4” Maxxis High rollers which just barely fit. They’re awesome. The only working part I upgraded on this bike was the seatpost, which is now a KS Lev Integra dropper post. As you can probably tell, I love hardtails. They're nearly indestructible, easy to throw around, and great for techy jumps, trials, and general shenanigans. I plan on collecting as many hardtails as I can. Next up is my SE Everyday. This only ran me about $300. I bought it to make a short series of videos on BMX, and didn't expect it to survive. Surprisingly it did, and will continue to be a long term workhorse me. So far I have upgraded the the front sprocket and chain. I originally left the brakes on this bike, but it just didn’t feel right to me. I always rode brakeless as a teen and still long for the distraction-free experience. I know it’s hard to understand if you’ve never ridden brakeless, but—it’s magical. Anyway, I’ve already gotten my money’s worth out of this bike and can’t wait to use it more this winter. This is my Inspired Fourplay, which is a street trials bike. Think of it as a cross between a BMX and a purebred trials bike. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a bike made just for hopping around on stuff. Although I did a short trials series on this bike, I don’t ride it very much. Still, it’s worth keeping around in case I need a trials bike for a video. Remember the Swing Bike? This bike has changed hands among my friends for the last few years, and is a bit of a novelty. The hinge in the middle lets you sort of drift around turns and do all sorts of crazy stuff. It's super fun to ride, fast, and probably one of the coolest novelty bikes I've ever ridden. Quick story. My friend Kevin owned this swing bike a few years back. We left it everywhere and never thought someone would have the balls steal it, until one day he left it outside his front door. Someone must have carried it down the stairs with great difficulty and rode off with it... with even greater difficulty. Kevin was super bummed out. We all were. One day he was in his car at a stoplight and saw a dude riding by on his swing bike! He pulled over, jumped out of the car and stopped the thief. He threatened to call the police and had the bike back within seconds. We were all amazed to see the swing bike again. The next bike is my Diamondback Mission 2, which is an all mountain bike, also given to me by Diamondback. This is second to the top of their Mission series. I chose this bike because I wanted something really heavy duty that could handle anything. Although it's not the lightest, it’s extraordinarily robust. The one exception to this is my front rim which has now been replaced twice. I guess there are better rims out there than the Easton Arc. The Mission 2 came standard with a KS Lev Integra dropper post. I want to mention that on all my mountain bikes I have platform pedals, and actually I'm not very picky about them; Any decent aluminum platform pedal will do. I've ridden clipless in the past and like it. I’m just better off with platforms since I do so much jumping around, and they’re easier to shift around and bail on. If I add an XC or CX bike to the squad I'll definitely be clipping in. Welcome to yet another episode of Kinematics. Good news, more graphs. That is right. I introduce in this episode, something we call as the velocity- time graph. As the name indicates, the graph keeps track of velocity with respect to time. So till now we were looking at position function and position time graph. We will now probe velocity function and vt graph. Remember Kinematics is all about graphs and equations. These graphs help us analyse complicated motions and figure out their amazing properties. So I am building up concepts for you guys, so that when we eventually get to the fun stuff of things falling and crashing, we can use all these knowledge to fully understand what is going on in situations like that. So let me know how you find this episode, and yes I know, the episode is a little longer than the usual ones, sorry about that, sometimes I just don't know when to shut up. I will keep a time limiter from next time. Welcome Kinematics Episode 3. In this segment, In introduce to you, one of the most radical concepts you would ever learn in physics (and maths) The concept of instant velocity. Why is this such a radical concept? Well, you will see we will encounter the classic zero/zero for the very first time in our course. Something which must have frustrated Sir Newton. You will learn some cool properties of ratios and enter into the realm of what we call as Calculus. Although I don't do any real calculus here, you get a hint of what differentiation is. So let me know what you think about the episode. As always subscribe for more and thank you for reading Follow me on www.facebook.com/FloatHeadPhysix Music: Blur by RSF https://soundcloud.com/rsfmu Legend of One - Kevin MacLeod Hypnosis - Kevin MacLeod Hot Rock - Kevin MacLeod Legend of One - Kevin Macleod
Welcome to episode 4 of Kinematics. In this episode, we explore the question, "can we calculate the velocity directly from the x-t graph?" Since, the equation for position contains the information about velocity, the graph of x and t must ALSO contain that information. But how do we extract that info? We learn one of the most fundamental and useful concept about straight lines, "slopes" That is right, Slope is an extremely important parameter to understand while looking at graphs. This concept of Slope will keep crawling up in almost all the graphs that you will ever deal in physics. Yet the concept is so human, that you will be able to understand that quite easily. So lets understand slopes shall we?
