The humble Sinclair ZX Spectrum keeps surprising me with homebrew and Russian goodness and this version of Wolfenstein 3D, named Wolfenstein 2004 is no exception. This game is runnable on any ZX Spectrum (or clone) with 128k of memory and the TR-DOS operating system (the standard OS on russian clones with disk systems). You might think that Wolfenstein 3D is a stretch too far for the Spectrum, at least at a playable rate, however this version runs at a perfectly acceptable pace even with a standard clocked Z80 processor at 3.5MHz. Bike: http://amzn.to/2aDKuU3 Thanks to Diamondback for lending me this sweet Release 3! Review to come... As a mountain biker, you might remember the first trail you ever rode, and the clunker of a bike you were likely riding. You might have better equipment now, more endurance, and experience, but you can always return to that first trail and relive the day you started riding bikes in the dirt. I'm back on Long Island for the weekend, so let’s take a ride to Stillwell Woods Park, the place where I first went mountain biking over 20 years ago. I'm positive that my dad and I rode Stillwell without helmets, gloves, or any gear beyond water bottles. Back then I wasn’t aware of the finer points of mountain biking—none of that really crossed my mind. It didn’t seem like there was much room to improve this otherwise perfect activity. My ignorance was blissful. Over the years I’ve gained experience, become more opinionated, and spent a lot of money on bike stuff. This tends to happen when you become obsessed with something. While I think we can all agree that getting new stuff is awesome, sometimes you need to make due with what you have. It's during those times where you should think back to your first ride, and all the fun you had on that clunker of yours. Nobody can ever take that smile away from you, then or now. It’s been about 10 years since I last rode Stillwell, and a lot has changed. New sections have been added, and the trail has become more fun overall. As the sport, the gear, and the riders evolve, so too do the sanctuaries that trail builders carve from their respective hills. The Internet has made techniques and repair advice available to anyone, technology has made bikes vastly more capable, and generations of athletes have pushed the boundaries of what’s possible to do on a bike. I think we all have a lot to look forward to. So the next time you’re back in your home town, or wherever it was that you first rode a mountain bike, take a ride on those trails for old time’s sake. Reflect on how far you’ve come, and all the other trails that followed. Let it serve as a reminder for why you started riding your bike in the dirt in the first place. Thanks for riding with me today, and I'll see you next time. Stickers and shirts! https://bermpeak.com

A brief history of the roguelike genre. To many the answer to this question is obvious, others however may never have even considered it. This video therefore tries to cater to both types of viewer by explaining and then delving more in depth into the world and history of roguelikes. Starting in 1980 with the game Rogue and it's various conversions to popular platforms of the time, through various 8 bit and 16 bit adventures and onto more recent titles which have entered themselves as roguelike games. The question now then, is do these games actually resemble what a roguelike game should resemble? ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! It's Lemmings on the Sam Coupe (by Miles Gordon Technology). This is definitely a lesser known machine, only selling some 12k units after it's release in 1989, but it's a pretty interesting piece of kit. Offering Sinclair Spectrum compatibility, but also having the power of a Z80B under the hood, with 6MHz of pure speed, it had some pretty impressive capabilities for an 8 bit machine. This version of lemmings is a good example of just what. Developed by Chris White and released under Fred Publishing rather than DMA design, this title, along with Oh! No, More Lemmings (also looked at in this video) were released in 1993. ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! The Army-Navy Screen Magazine Number 50, 1945 02 By Request: Short film about German human torpedoes. Another film about Brooklyn New York, including street scenes, baseball, Ebbets Field. The final segment is probably from the January 11, 1945 episode of Command Performance and features Lina Romay singing "Chiu Chiu." The Army-Navy Screen Magazine 50 1945: the entire newsreel. The Army-Navy Screen Magazine was produced by the U.S. Army Signal Corps Pictorial Service, under the supervision of Col. Frank Capra, who came up with the idea. It was released twice a month and shown to military troops as a 20-minute newsreel.
Aluminum isopropoxide is important to carry out Oppenauer oxidations and MPV reductions. To make the aluminum isopropoxide, I will use mercuric chloride that was made in a previous video. I will then carry out an MPV reduction using the aluminum isopropoxide to eventually make 1-octen-3-ol, something I have been working towards for a while. NOTE: Around 5 minutes, I made a mistake and wrote "hydriodic acid" instead of "hydrogen gas" Mercuric Chloride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CPwmXnihkk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Merch - https://nilered.tv/store ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join the community: Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/nilered Discord - https://discord.com/invite/3BT6UHf NileRed Newsletter - https://nile.red/home#newsletter You can also find me here: Facebook - https://m.facebook.com/NileRed2 Instagram - https://m.instagram.com/nile.red Twitter - https://mobile.twitter.com/NileRed2 Nile talks about lab safety: https://youtu.be/ftACSEJ6DZA Assistant Editor: Chanel Brun-Soroka
Lemmings on the ZX Spectrum! Yup, and you know what? It's a really good port of the classic Amiga game. Developed by DMA Design themselves and published by Psygnosis, it may have been a late title for the already aging hardware, but it was a very good game none the less. Colour is lacking, detail is lacking, but the graphics are unmistakably lemmings and the gameplay is spot on. Join me for this Spectrum early '90s classic. ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! Set up a camera, practice for 30 minutes, and post it. But life has a nasty habit of getting in the way. Somehow, it’s been over a week since I posted a video. At that time, I got the hang of riding around, and was determined to learn to mount the unicycle without support, known as free mounting. So to get back on track, I set an ambitious but attainable goal for myself this evening: Ride to the park a half mile away, learn to free mount, and then ride home. It’s raining, but no excuses. So, to the park. Yeah, riding a unicycle with a selfie stick. For some reason I don’t feel embarrassed; if all of you guys are watching me then what’s another few hundred. I’ve come a long way from the first time I got up on the unicycle. I don’t use nearly as much energy, and I more or less feel comfortable riding around and turning. Since I can’t free mount though, I need to find a pole or a fence every time I get back on. Which is annoying. So I decided to learn free mounting today no matter what. Track standing can come later. I was going to practice up there, but this guy seems like he’s down on his luck. The least I could do it not unicycle next to him with a selfie stick while he sleeps. Like everything, I’m doing this the hard way and figuring it out myself. My strategy is to push down with my dominant foot, hop myself into a stable position, and start pedaling. For some reason, I get up and then crash instantly. This should just take some repetition. And success! And to make sure that wasn’t a fluke, I set one more goal: Free mount, ride across this grassy clearing, and ride down this tiny staircase into the mulch. Yeah, I’m offroading now! I’d say today was pretty successful so far, so to finish up, I’ll try free mounting with the selfie stick in my hand. Now to ride home and get something to drink. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time. Check out http://Unicycle.com

Okay so this is going to be a very short video, and this is most definitely not Whistler bike park. No, we’re in Davie Florida today at Vista View Park. From the 1960s through the 80’s, this was Davie’s landfill. I supposed that after it was finished venting and festering for a while, they decided to turn it into a park. I must admit, they did a really good job. Because South Florida doesn’t have any natural elevation changes, these might be the biggest hills in Broward County. Legend has it that you can bomb the hill and launch off the fire road halfway down, so being that it’s around the corner from me, why not give it a try? Like I said, this isn’t a downhill park or even big hill compared to what you’d find in a more mountainous region, but the very fact that it’s not designed for this makes it more interesting to me. This is why people like riding street, and sessioning features outside the designated trail. It’s why I tried taking this bike in the ocean. There’s a ski resort in Dubai, and there are water parks in Canada. Hell, there are seafood restaurants in Kansas. Why not a downhill park in Florida? It wouldn’t have the longest runs, and it wouldn’t have the roughest terrain, but with a little switchback magic you could get a decent run out of one of these hills. Besides, people come to Florida for beaches, and dining, and cruises, and snorkeling. ANY downhill course would be good enough for me, but something tells me it would be hard to get the county on board with that. For now though, I’m quite literally riding down a pile of garbage, and having a blast doing it. What kind of weird riding spots have you guys found? Have you ventured into an old quarry, or a big pile of rocks in the corner of a park? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time. This documentary of gaming history charts of the story of DMA Design and their voyage from Thursday night evenings at the Dundee Computer Club back in 1983, through early ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 game conversions such as Zone Trooper & Shadow of the Beast, through the phenomenal success they encountered on the Amiga with titles such as Lemmings (and it's associated follow ups), past the Psygnosis days with the Nintendo period involving Unirally (and it's associated Pixar lawsuit) and Body Harvest and slap bang into The MS-DOS and PC era with the Grand Theft Auto series. The period when the name DMA Design began to fizzle away, slowly to be bought out and replaced with the now legendary Rockstar Games, and Rockstar North. This is a tale involving many games, many incredible ideas, much creativity and a lot of people; the people in fact who formed the very core of what DMA Design was about. DMA Design begins with David Jones, Russell Kay, Steve Hammond and Mike Dailly, but finishes with over 250 employees, working ferociously to bring us some of the best entertainment to come out of the 1990s. Some of the titles included; Meance (Amiga) Ballistix (Amiga, C64, DOS) Bloody Money (Amiga, Atari ST, C64) Shadow of the Beast (C64, TurboGrafx) Lemmings (Too many formats to list) Oh No! More Lemmings (Same) Walker (Amiga) Hired Guns (Amiga) Christmas Lemmings (Amiga) Lemmings 2: The Tribes (Amiga, Atari ST) Unirally (SNES) Grand Theft Auto (DOS, Playstation) Body Harvest (N64) Space Station Silicon Valley (N64, Playstation) GTA London (DOS) Tanktics (Windows) Wild Metal Country (Windows) GTA 2 GTA 3 Mike Dailly has brought up a couple of points relating to the content and for clarification purposes; 1. It was he entirely who did the GTA Isometric and perspective engines - not "the team". You can find more details at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNNZfUsdQeM 2. GTA development started in Dundee, the company didn't in fact move to Edinburgh offices until the end of it's life in 2000 3. Gary Timmons was a friend of Russell, rather than Dave 4. Salamander sounds weren't used in the final version of Menance, only as placeholders in the development stages. 5. The image of Tony is the wrong Tony. That's actually Tony Colgan shown in the sequence as opposed to Tony Smith. ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*!
