The Army-Navy Screen Magazine Number 02, 1943. (AKA "The War No. 2) 01 Symphony Of The Sands : soldiers at a Shostakovich 7th Symphony concert. With Ivy Lowe, Edward G. Robinson and Leopold Stokowski 02 Merchant Marine - U Boats!: Footage of the Battle of the Atlantic 03 Seized By The Japs: Captured Japanese film from the Sino-Japanese War. 04 How Much Can You Take: Testing military equipment under extreme conditions at Ft. Knox. 05 US Navy I Was There [USS Hornet] - sailor talks about the combat aboard the USS Hornet (CV-12) aircraft carrier. The Army-Navy Screen Magazine 05 1943: the entire newsreel. The Army-Navy Screen Magazine was produced by the U.S. Army Signal Corps Pictorial Service, under the supervision of Col. Frank Capra, who came up with the idea. It was released twice a month and shown to military troops as a 20-minute newsreel. "By the end of the war, the Army-Navy Screen Magazine reached an enormous weekly audience of 4.2 million. It had become for American soldiers all over the world a communal experience that greatly influenced their perception of the war." It featured short documentary films, news from back home, and short training films like Dr. Seuss' Private Snafu cartoons. I've uploaded the entire Screen Magazine and also each segment as a separate file (some editions are comprised of 1 long film, though). Description at the National Archives: "Reel 1, Leopold Stokowski conducts a Shostakovich concert at a desert air base in the U.S. Edw. G. Robinson speaks. Shows staged scenes of besieged Leningrad. Sailors attend sonar school; depth bombs are dropped from a destroyer in the N. Atlantic. Japanese films show Japanese infantry crossing a pontoon bridge in China, wading a river, pulling horse-drawn artillery through mire, and occupying a village. Reel 2, volunteers at Fort Knox, Ky., test uniforms and equipment for arctic and equatorial use. Their ability to adapt to hot and cold temperatures is checked. Shows the aircraft carrier Hornet under aerial attack off Santa Cruz. Wounded are removed by breeches buoys to a destroyer."

Here's a quick and simple how to video on how to install an injector rebuild kit, or an injector service kit as they are sometimes called. Fuel injectors are an important part of your car, but after several years of service the amount of fuel and spray patterns get compromised. Luckily injector rebuild kits are readily available, are inexpensive and you can install them yourself easily. I got mine for $ 17 and it contained everything I needed for the 4 fuel injectors from my 4AGE 16V engine in my 1987 Toyota MR2 mk1 (aw11). Here's what comes in the kit: 4x pintle caps 4x upper rail spacers 4x lower grommets (also called insulators, or dampers) 4x high-flow micro filters The o-rings, rail spacers and dampers are easily replaced by hand. The pintle caps need a bit of heating up and the micro filters are replaced by putting a screw into a vice. All in all a 15 minute job that will make your fuel injectors firing like new. Conventional injectors, unlike modern versions found in direct injection gasoline and diesel engines, very rarely fail. So don't replace them unless you are 100% sure they need to be replaced. A rebuild kit and/or professional cleaning will get them working like new in no time at all. The Queen of Smiles fight is straightforward. She has a windmill attack when her HP drops below 50% after she shoots swords radially. Just block or dodge is the easiest strategy and she is fairly easy to beat. The Mad Alchemist fight is a little more difficult. Stand only on the platforms on either left or right side. Block his lightning, fire, blade attacks and don't let the poison blobs near you. Bring antidotes in case you are poisoned, but don't use too many if you don't need to. Is this box worth it? The answer depends on if you like the Revenant statue and having a giant box. The durability of the fan / LED lights is questionable. Regardless, if you put that statue on display, it will undoubtedly get a lot of attention (if your spouse approves...). Ten months after the introduction of the asylum law of 29 July 2015, designed to enable France to better deal with the increase in demand, the situation is dramatic in Paris. Thursday, May 19 at noon, in the rain, thirty Afghans and twenty Africans are packed on the pavement outside the offices of the association France Terre d'asile ( FTA ), 127, boulevard de la Villette (19th arrondissement). 150 refugees have been sleeping on the pavement there for several weeks, hoping to get into the FTA office which has become the essential first step to getting an appointment at the prefecture. But on Wednesday, the doors were hardly opened, and on Thursday they were not opened at all. Look familiar? We torture tested this Walmart Mongoose back in October, and since then I’ve made a few little improvements. Even the front wheel is straight now, thanks to the highly malleable nature of steel rims. And no, that is not a Rockshox suspension fork. The reason I busted out the Walgoose is so we can do an experiment on weight. I get a lot of comments from people who think their bike is too heavy. For example, they’ll say, “I’m trying to wheelie, but I can’t lift the front wheel because my bike is too heavy.” I’m going to take a wild guess and say they’re not talking about a beautiful downhill bike with a double crown fork. No, more likely these individuals are riding something similar to this Walgoose. While they probably could benefit from a nicer bike, I’m not so sure it’s the weight that’s preventing them from improving. At 34 pounds, the Walgoose is only about 2 pounds heavier than my full suspension. To do a proper test, we need to get it a little closer to 40 pounds, to match the weight of the beastliest department store bikes. My idea is to pack the handlebars, seatpost, and seat tube with paver base. To prevent the sand from getting into the bottom bracket, I’m using a carefully measured piece of terrycloth, precisely rammed into the seat tube with a calibrated broomstick. As you can see, this is not an exact science. I’m also adding this water bottle, since it doesn’t really throw the bike off balance. After all this the total weight is just under 39 pounds. I expected more to be honest, but this is still very heavy for a small trail bike. We’re still well within downhill bike territory, but this is not that. Let’s take the Walgoose out to the streets and see how it performs. Well, not much has changed since the last time I rode this bike. It feels like a Walgoose. Of course, it’s no problem for me to wheelie this bike, and even get up into a manual, although I can’t really balance for long. I was even able to bunny hop it on to this trailer first shot. As expected, bike handling has a lot more to do with technique than weight does. Also, when we’re talking about bike handling it’s important to compare the weight of the bike to the weight of the rider. Based on this, the Walgoose weighs about 25% what I do. For a 200 pound rider, a 50 pound bike would hinder them in a similar way. If you weigh 100 pounds, a 25 pound bike would be similarly difficult to manage. So based on this test, a bike 25% of your body weight isn’t going to outright stop you from doing anything. You probably won’t be winning any races, but it will most certainly not prevent you from doing wheelies or bunnyhops. This test was interesting but I want to have some more fun. Time to get creative. I’m pretty sure that pumping the tires full of water would make this bike prohibitively heavy. I figured I could submerge the base of this bike pump in water to do this, but I was wrong. The entire thing needs to be underwater for it to work so I can’t just use a container in my yard. It’s over 90 degrees today, so this is actually a nice break after throwing this heavy bike around. The show must go on though. Let’s do another weigh in and take this piece of crap for a ride. At 48.5 pounds, or 22 kilograms, the Walgoose now weighs 1/3 what I do. That’s significantly more than the Ebike I tested last week, and well within the realm of the heaviest downhill bikes. This time, we’re gonna set out by car. Something tells me that I’m not going to be riding this bike home. Very surprisingly, these tires don’t feel all that much different filled with water—that is until you try to accelerate or lift the front end. I can barely wheelie this bike now, and manuals are hopeless. It’s a known fact that the weight of your wheels, or spinning weight, has a much bigger impact on performance relative to frame weight. Since the weight we added is in the wheels, it’s particularly effective in making this bike feel sluggish. Still, I can get the front end up. 360’s anyone? Not on this bike, not here. I would need a much bigger jump for this, and even then I’m not sure what the outcome would be. After bending the rear wheel, and bending it back, I decided to scale back on my ambition and try a 180. Well, that’s the end of our test. This time it’s not going to bend back. Rather than the usual Charity shopping, today's GBR Thrifts is a car boot sale bonanza, involving 2 separate and distinct car boot sales. For those American thrifters... you may have better thrift/charity stores, but you miss out on good ol' car boot sales that we hold all over the place in the UK. Bargains galore in this "Double Car Booty" episode, taking place at Aylsham Car Boot sale and Arminghall Car Boot sale.

A look at a Harman Kardon Aura Airplay Speaker. Purchased from the Outlet/Refurbished store in the UK - link below. http://outlet.harmankardon.co.uk/harman-kardon-outlet-detail-uk/hk-aura-black-detail.html (Refurb speakers won't always be available) Here's some other links (be very careful you buy the right model). eBay: http://goo.gl/PzNnUP Amazon US: http://amzn.to/1Tjvks0 Be especially careful with the above Amazon link - the Aura studio model has been listed under the Aura name in error. The refurbished models appear to be the Airplay model. Today, my bike is looking fly with a brand new gold chain. I installed this today because my old chain snapped at the bike park. Thanks to the help of a chain tool, I was back up and running. So why did I replace my chain if it was fixed? More importantly, how did I fix my old one? Today we’ll be talking about all of this, but first let’s take a look at some of the tools we use to work on chains. This is a chain tool, or chain breaker. The spot on the end is for removing and joining links, while the spot at the back is for loosening tight links. To pop a link out, line it up at the end and crank down on it—carefully of course. A good chain breaker is measured to stop short of pushing the pin all the way out, but I recommend playing it safe and not going all the way to this point. To join a link, put the chain in the opposite way and line up the pins. Of course, you need to stop pushing when the pin reaches the end. When you join a link, it’ll sometimes be tighter than the others. Use this part of the tool to push on the pin very slightly, which will loosen it up. Since popping links in and out can weaken them, most chains have a master link for removal and maintenance. While there are special pliers made to pop these out, I don’t think most people have them. Most master links can be popped out by hand, and stubborn ones can be popped out carefully with pliers by squeezing the link end to end. Through normal use, chains actually stretch out a bit. Eventually they don’t line up perfectly with your gears, and cause wear on your drivetrain. If you have good parts on your bike, it’s cheaper and easier to replace your chain every so often, than to get a new cassette, chainring, and set of derailleur pulleys. You could use this gauge to tell if your chain needs replacement, but just doing it on a schedule is better than nothing. For an average or casual rider, I’d recommend doing it at the beginning of each riding season. If you race, have expensive parts, or are particularly abusive, it may be a good idea to do it a few times per season, maybe even invest in a gauge. So, let’s apply what we’ve learned with a real life scenario. You’re out on the trails and this happens. If you’ve never snapped a chain before, let me tell you it isn’t pretty. Your drivetrain suddenly goes limp, which can cause you to crash or smash your knee on the frame. At this point you’re either planning your long walk back to the trailhead, or reaching for your trusty multi tool. Brands like Park, Topeak, Crankbrothers, and Lezyne, just to name a few, have chain breakers built right into their multitools. While these are usually kinda clumsy to use, they’re better than nothing. First let’s take this broken stuff off the chain. To join the chain, you can see here that we need to remove one more segment. Now we’re in business. Even though this chain is now short by one link, your derailleur just needs to reach forwards a bit to make up for it. To get home, this is fine, although you should replace your chain as soon as possible. After all, if you snapped your chain in the first place it probably needs to be replaced. Plus, at one link short you’re putting extra stress on your derailleur and drivetrain. When reinstalling a chain, you’ll need to route it through the derailleur. If you’ve never done this before, it might be confusing, but you can always look at a friend’s bike for reference. Just start at the back of the cassette, route it in front of the upper pulley, and behind the lower pulley. Go around your front chainring, or even your bottom bracket to join the chain together. If you’re replacing your chain you can always line it up next to your old one for size. If you repaired it out on the trails, just add an extra link to make up for the one you removed. If you don’t have your old chain, then measure it up so that your derailleur is angled slightly forwards in your lowest gear. Don’t go more than 45 degrees as this is probably going to be too short. Oh yeah one more thing… if you have gears up front, be sure to shift them into the largest ring while measuring. So, what to do with your old chain? I say, use it for practice. You can even make a keychain. The practice will come in handy the next time you find yourself stranded miles from home. Thanks for riding with me today and I’ll see you next time. The Sodden Knight. He's got 3 main attacks. The Lightning attack is best avoided by jumping far away from him. He has a lunging attack that follows the lightning after his health drops below 50%. I'm really pleased with how these clips turned out - fire in slow motion is really quite beautiful. Here's some slow motion (240fps) shots of my no-moving-parts fire tornado machine, cut to suitably epic music. I wish I had a camera that could slow it down even more/at an even higher resolution, but that's a bit out of my price range... I used an iPhone 6S camera, then enhanced the footage sharpness/color/etc. in PowerDirector 14. I really love this design because the walls are clear polycarbonate - there's no obstructing mesh. It's also a lot safer than the mesh designs because nothing needs to move (so it can't get tipped over). For more information about the fire tornado machine, check out my channel! Continuing with Shoebox floppies episode #5, I find out exactly what is on this double density disk labelled with "Jumbo Disk 1 Progs and Utils"... it could be a treasure trove of shareware joy, it could be fabulous long forgotten gems, or it could be a load of programs which barely run. With the Pentium II, Intel designed a CPU and cache which remained closely integrated, but were mounted on a printed circuit board, called a Single-Edged Contact Cartridge (SECC). In this episode of Byte size, I discuss the reasons behind this switch and also go into details on cache operations in the Pentium Pro, Xeon and Celeron processors, and how they differed from the Pentium II model. ☟Subcribe☟ https://www.youtube.com/user/nostalgianerdvideos?sub_confirmation=1 ✊Support Me! ✊ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nostalgianerd?ty=h Visit my eBay Shop: http://ebay.to/1QQpYyy Buy From Amazon (affiliate): http://amzn.to/1OzCQWR ★Nerd Social★ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/nostalnerd Face: http://www.facebook.com/nostalnerd Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/nostalgianerd Web: http://www.nostalgianerd.com ★Equipment★ Nikon D3200 with 40mm Macro Corel Video Studio Ultimate X7 Corel Paint Shop Pro X6 Blue Snowball Microphone ♜Resources♜ Pentium 2 images courtesy of Wikipedia/Wikimedia and public domain imagery.
