A look at the largest music cartridge format ever made ....and the machine that played it, the 3M Cantata 700. Launched in the 1960s but still used in some places until the 1990s. You can download a poorly recorded sample of the music here: http://goo.gl/zxC6OA The problems with dubbing - I've spooled one cartridge onto my reel to reel machine and there is a lot of leakage between tracks (the sound of the mono music recorded on the left output can be heard on the separate mono music played from the right). Also the sound is very low when played at 3.75ips and then slowed 50% in editing. A number of people said they used to record their own tapes at home...but given the fact the mono tracks aren't in line with the tracks on a home 4-track reel to reel I feel this may be mis-remembered. ------AFFLIATED LINKS/ADVERTISING NOTICE------- All links are Affiliated where possible. Being Curator of the European Iron Age at the British Museum is a tough job, especially when you’re honing your blacksmithing skills. Julia Farley explains the processes behind making a Celtic torc (or big metal neck ring), and reveals how one of the most beautiful aspects of these objects might not be what you expect… Curator’s Corner is the British Museum’s first YouTube series, and was selected from a number of potential series proposed by the Museum in December 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luXVd New episodes of Curator's Corner come out every month. I've had a slow leak in the rear tire of my hardtail for months now, and I keep just pumping it up and riding it. I think we've all been guilty of this type of laziness, but this leak is coming from my sidewall, which means the tire really needs to be replaced. When I pump it up you can see air coming out here, but shaking the sealant around plugs the hole for a while. Later today, the pressure will be down to around 10psi if I'm lucky. So, while this tire is getting replaced no matter what, I'm going to use this slow leak for an experiment. Many riders have mentioned that mixing glitter into both homebrew sealants, and off the shelf brands like Stan's can improve their ability to seal punctures. It does sound plausible that the little grains of glitter would get lodged in punctures and make it easier for the sealant to do its job. Let's see if glitter can give my Stan's sealant an edge on stopping this slow leak. I'm going to mix some glitter in with the sealant that's already in my tire. This way we can't attribute a successful outcome to new sealant. My assumption would be that really fine dusty glitter works best, so I'll use this stuff. I'll put some of these little stars in too for style points. I'll go for a ride to get the sealant in every little crack, and then let the bike sit for about 6 hours. By now, the tire would have usually lost a lot of pressure, so it's time to check. No way, did this work? I'm going to go for another ride and then leave it until tomorrow morning, just to be extra sure. I must say I'm surprised. This tire is most definitely holding air. In the 3 months since this leak occurred, I have not seen this tire hold air for more than a half a day, so there's a good chance that it was the glitter that stopped this leak. I'm still not sold on adding glitter to sealant as a standard procedure though. I'm guessing that it also has side effects. For the same reasons it helps plug holes, the glitter may accumulate around other crevices inside the tire, and cause the sealant to clump where it shouldn't. Sealant is designed to provide a balance of puncture resistance, longevity, and non interference with other components like valve stems, so there's probably a good reason that Stan's doesn't come premixed with glitter. I simply don't have the answer to this. If it does provide better flat protection, it might be worth the payoff during a race, or a long distance trip where getting a flat could have huge consequences. These theories are all just speculation though, so take them for what they're worth. In any case, it was a fun experiment which showed that this trick just might work. Now I need to wash this glitter off myself so my wife doesn't get suspicious. Thanks for riding with me today and I'll see you next time. t-shirts: https://bermpeak.com/collections/casual-apparel
Think of this video as almost a Pentium vs. 486 reference. The Pentium processor seemed like a huge leap in performance over it's predecessor... the 486, just like the 386 was a huge leap over 286 based systems. But what improvements were made over the 486 and how did they help the Pentium become the new standard in CPU technology, leaving 486 based systems to bite the dust. Subscribe for new videos!. GAMEBOY TRIPLE OSCILLATOR heres some holy chill music from some LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER DIY synth. WWW.ZIBRAZIBRAZIBRA.COM Is something i initally made 3 years ago as a stand alone module to match some other gameboy powered modular machines i built, but it got taken apart i found it in the shed a couple of weeks ago and it was rusted and mouldy, so i took the idea and made it better. this one is midi, in this video it is sequenced by a number of Arduino midi sequencers designed around a modified code of this :- http://brendanclarke.com/…/04/23/arduino-based-midi-sequen…/ they are at the top of cabinet, which is out of shot but you can see it in this video i did :- https://www.facebook.com/ZibraZibraZibra/videos/vl.1559521541032126/514130182107401/?type=1&theater Its core is an Arduinoboy designed by Trash80 with some EMS smart cards with his mGB software on them. on top of that it has some oscillators which effect the clock of the gameboys, hence making them tuneable by slowing up and down the gameboys speed, all 3 of them work off each other to make a fatter version of just 1 of them that is all. the processor clock speed is also controllable by CV. the initial sounds by the gameboys are channel 3 which is the WAVE channel, one of the midi sequencers up top out is used to record the cc from control voltage of that knob to the right which controls the wave table. the pulse channels and the wave channels are panned so they can be kind of seperate so they can go into different reverbs and into the mixer. its all powered by the midi sequencers which is all clocked by an alesis hr16, i pre played in the apregiator style sound into one of the midi sequencers prior to recording this cus its really hard not to mess up, so just muted and unmuted that. along with a lot of drum patterns which are triggered by various step sequencers and probability triggers. the front panel is loose because im having problems booting all of the gameboys up at the same time from the front panel, and seinse the back of the gameboys are inside ive kinda gotta pull it out and turn it on and off again if it crashes. but hopefully will be an easy fix. the keyboard controller is a bit of a mess, the controls on the front panel was a master clock so i didnt have to use the Alesis HR16 but it didnt really work very well so i had to bypass all of that and solder the end of a midi cable straight to the arduino in the controller... work in progress. its all doused in reverb to sound kinda HOLY. SO YEAH HOLY GAMEBOY. you can find out more on the older project at :- ZIBRAZIBRAZIBRA.COM and the old one i built is here :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCOts5U0Og8 filmed and added some closeups after. hence the clock speed being slow in the close ups. #gameboy #modular CHECK OUT MY MUSIC ON SPOTIFY :- http://bit.ly/LMNCSpotify Patreon :- https://www.patreon.com/lookmumnocomputer Facebook :- https://www.facebook.com/LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER Website :- https://www.lookmumnocomputer.com Instagram :- https://www.instagram.com/lookmumnocomputer/ Always looking for old gear! to mod or conserve in the "museum of everything else" one day :P ETH Donations always welcome, here :- 0xD765bf71f5c10F91d704D792De4b21712B132f23 Other donation options right here! thanks :D :- https://www.lookmumnocomputer.com/donations/
In the mid-3rd century CE, Emperor Decius ordered that everyone in the Roman Empire is to offer a sacrifice to the Roman gods. This caused a controversy among Christian communities as bunches of Christians refused to sacrifice and ended up being jailed, tortured, or executed. But was this edict specifically an anti-Christian decree? Or did Decius inadvertently stumble into a theological controversy? It aired on ABC TV October 24, 1966 and again in January 1967. Time Magazine: "Henry Fonda narrates a documentary recording the everyday heroism of helicopter pilots, doctors and flight nurses in Viet Nam." Ramps you guys made: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/sbhramp/ Today, we’ll be building a multipurpose ramp which can be used for a BMX or mountain bike. My friend James is helping out with his truck and workspace Our ramp will be made from just one piece of 1/2” plywood and some 2x4’s. Including the screws, the materials are only about $50. I’m spending slightly more for pressure treated wood and stainless deck screws, just to make the ramp more resistant to the outdoors. With normal wood it’ll be just as sturdy. First we’ll draw the profile of the ramp on the plywood. My ramp has some curve to it, so we’re using a PVC pipe to trace a smooth bend. Once we’re done tracing the shape, we’ll cut it out with a jigsaw and use it as a template for cutting another piece. These pieces will become the sides of the ramp. The rest of this wood will be used for the riding surface, but first we need to cut a bunch of support beams from the 2x4’s. These should be cut to the width you want your ramp to be, but we’ll need to make them slightly shorter to account for the plywood. You’ll see why in a minute. Next, we’ll use our beams to frame out the ramp. We’ll fasten them in place with two deck screws on each side. Once the ramp is framed out, we’ll cut the faces from the remaining wood. We’re cutting some extra angles and sanding for a tighter fit, but this part won’t make or break anything. The faces get attached with screws, just like the beams. Since the curvature of the ramp is really mellow, the plywood easily bends into place when you screw it in. We’re also making sure these screws are buried real good so they can’t stick out and become a hazard. I’m going to need to stencil my channel logo on here, but one thing at a time. As you can see, we measured the beams so that the face would hang over the edge slightly. This ramp should hold up to everything from oversized riders to crashes. Although it’s small, it’s really fun. I can’t ride on it here for long, so let’s pack up and go someplace else. At just 6 feet long, this kicker ramp could fit in the back of an SUV, although it’s probably a two person job. If you’re just dragging it around it’s not too bad. For absolute beginners, this ramp provides a few challenges and plenty of room for growth, but the back side makes it possible to roll over without jumping it. Riding the ramp the opposite way is great practice for getting over obstacles and learning to bunny hop. On a BMX, you can get creative with nose bonks, manuals, and all sorts of fun stuff. We could have made this back side go all the way to the ground, but the 4” drop makes it a lot more interesting. If you want to build this exact ramp, there’s a link in the video description with a materials list and measurements. What I really want you to get from this video though, is a starting point to design your own ramp. Your ramp can be bigger, smaller, wider, or have a totally different shape. You can even add handles, wheels, or a custom paint job. A piece of sheet metal at the bottom can even make it work for skateboards. The best part is that a custom ramp could cost less than one mountain bike tire. Most home improvement stores can even make the big cuts on site, so you can bring the lumber home in your Toyota Corolla. What do you guys think? How can we improve this ramp without making it bigger or more expensive? Give the newbies some inspiration by sharing your ramp building tips in the comments. Thanks for riding with me today and I’ll see you next time. Sort of instructions on how to build the ramp: http://www.sethsbikehacks.com/diy-bmxmtb-ramp-materials-list/

The Army-Navy Screen Magazine Number 50, 1945 01 William L. Shirer Talks About The Hitler Youth: Short film about the Hitler Youth and their activities in Nazi Germany. 02 By Request: Short film about German human torpedoes. Another film about Brooklyn New York, including street scenes, baseball, Ebbets Field. The final segment is probably from the January 11, 1945 episode of Command Performance and features Lina Romay singing "Chiu Chiu." The Army-Navy Screen Magazine 50 1945: the entire newsreel. The Army-Navy Screen Magazine was produced by the U.S. Army Signal Corps Pictorial Service, under the supervision of Col. Frank Capra, who came up with the idea. It was released twice a month and shown to military troops as a 20-minute newsreel. "By the end of the war, the Army-Navy Screen Magazine reached an enormous weekly audience of 4.2 million. It had become for American soldiers all over the world a communal experience that greatly influenced their perception of the war." It featured short documentary films, news from back home, and short training films like Dr. Seuss' Private Snafu cartoons. I've uploaded the entire Screen Magazine and also each segment as a separate file (some editions are comprised of 1 long film, though). Description at the National Archives: "Reel 1 (on Hitler Youth) shows Ger. children and babies in carriages; Hitler Youth units parading and aboard a submarine; youths working in fields and trade schools; visits to Ger. historical monuments; Gen. Guderian reviewing Hitler Youth; and youths working in labor battalions. Reel 2 shows photographs of a Ger. one-man submarine; general street scenes in Brooklyn; the Brooklyn Dodgers playing baseball; and Lina Romay singing."

Mountain bikes are made for riding over rough terrain. They’re made to go fast and cover lots of ground. Trials bikes are made for negotiating technical obstacles. They’re geared low and made for maneuverability. BMX bikes are made for doing tricks and riding skatepark. They’re built to be and indestructible. Let’s start with the mountain bike. I’d say this is the most popular of the three when you go across all age groups. If you can only have one bike, I’d choose this. Why? Well first of all it’s comfortable and makes great transportation. This means you’ll definitely get use out of it, especially if you’re not old enough to drive. Mountain bikes are of course great for riding trails, and you can even use them to do jumps. While they’re not the best for tricks, you can ride a little street and get creative on a mountain bike. Mountain bikes have powerful brakes, capable drivetrains, plus big tires to take the shock and vibration out of rough terrain. For when things get really rough, mountain bikes also have suspension. So it seems, the mountain bike is a fast, comfortable, and capable vehicle which can do a lot of things. This makes it the winner of the three in terms of practicality and versatility, but that doesn’t mean you should choose it over a trials or BMX bike. Let’s take a look at the trials bike next. While this is considered a street trials bike, it’s still useful for our comparison. The tires are fat, the bars are wide, and it has powerful disc brakes just like the mountain bike. It seems like you could ride trails on this, except for a few problems. First of all you can’t really sit on it, and second of all there’s only one ridiculously low gear. In fact the gearing on a trials bike is so low that you’re better off using a skateboard for transportation. So, to get around town or ride trails, the trials bike is off the table. So what about doing jumps and riding skateparks? After all, it looks a little like a dirt jump bike, and seems maneuverable enough to replace a BMX. Again, the devil is in the details. The fork on a trials bike puts the wheel dead center, as opposed to dirt jump and BMX forks, which are offset towards the front. This makes them sketchy for landings. Also, the head tube angle is more upright, making it poor for maintaining control at speed. The trials geometry is optimized for tight maneuvers, not for speed. Trials is a cycling discipline that puts your bike handling skills to the ultimate test. For this reason, only get a trials bike if you’re really sure you want to do trials, because it won’t be useful for anything else. Don’t take this as a jab at trials, it’s just that trials really isn’t for everyone. If you want to learn more about trials, check out my playlist which I’ve linked to in the description. Lastly we have the BMX. Like the trials bike, a BMX bike isn’t any good for sitting on and pedaling through mountain bike trails. With that said, it’s actually not the worst transportation. When I was a kid on Long Island, I rode my BMX all over town. As an adult, I still grab it to run to the coffee shop. The high tire pressure, moderate gearing, and huge riser bars make BMX bikes pretty fun to get around on. As a sport, BMX is very popular, so it’s easy to find people to ride with no matter where you live. The dead simple construction makes BMX bikes the most reliable thing on two wheels, so for kids with a low budget and no tools, it might be the perfect option. With the same bike, you can ride street, skatepark, and dirt jumps. Even if you just have a driveway to ride in, there’s no shortage of fun things you can do on a BMX. So, what about cross training and doing some trials on a BMX? Nope. The lack of powerful brakes, and a super short wheelbase make BMX bikes pretty bad for trials. The gearing is also way too high to perform any trials technique. So, if you can’t decide between BMX and trials you’ll probably be stuck with two bikes. The more you watch BMX and trials videos, the more you’ll notice how radically different the sports are from each other. So if this video hasn’t given you a clear path towards what’s right for you, then look at your surroundings. What do your friends ride? What’s popular where you live? What is there to ride in your immediate vicinity? If you don’t have anyone to ride with, don’t have anything to ride on, or can’t get to the place you plan on riding, then the bike will likely sit in your garage. Think of an isometric PC racing game from the late 90s, with network multiplayer, vast landscapes, weather, a choice of vehicles, including police car, mini and a BUS, and what do you think of? Well, in my case, I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was... my initial thought was Power Drive, but that was just lacking the landscapes and graphics, next I thought I might have completely imagined it....but thanks to a couple of friendly people in MS-DOS Facebook groups I was finally reminded.... IGNITION, published by Virgin Interactive and launched in 1997 for DOS and Windows. What a game this is. In terms of isometric racers, this is an epic, 3D, textured beauty of a game, with plenty to keep you occupied for many, many weeks to come. Join me as I get extremely excited to play this for the first time in about 18 years! This game is also known as Bleifuss Fun in Germany and Fun Tracks in France and is developed by Unique Development Studios. Hopefully if anyone has the same amnesia as me, this text will be picked up by Google and frantic searches will reveal this very video.... Elite for the BBC Micro by Acornsoft was a revolutionary game, introducing the home computer world to 3D graphics and what's more, an almost endless space exploration experience. It was, and remains, an immense piece of gaming history that made a firm mark on many a teenage mind during the mid 1980s. Released for the BBC Micro A/B and later the Acorn Electron by Acornsoft, it was soon converted to other formats, including the Sinclair Spectrum and Commodore 64. It amazes me still today, that it can run on these early 8 bit micros. The game was developed by Ian Bell and David Braben when they were in their early 20s and both at University, and was quickly snapped up by Acorn for release under their Acornsoft brand to entice home buyers to their powerful home micro. ☟Subcribe☟ https://www.youtube.com/user/nostalgianerdvideos?sub_confirmation=1 ✊Support Me! ✊ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nostalgianerd?ty=h Visit my eBay Shop: http://ebay.to/1QQpYyy Buy From Amazon (affiliate): http://amzn.to/1OzCQWR ★Nerd Social★ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/nostalnerd Face: http://www.facebook.com/nostalnerd Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/nostalgianerd Web: http://www.nostalgianerd.com ★Equipment★ Lumix G6 with Vario 14-42mm Lens Nikon D3200 with 40mm Macro Corel Video Studio Ultimate X7 Corel Paint Shop Pro X6 ♜Resources♜
