The streets are calling, so it’s time for another BMX tutorial. Today we’ll learn how to wall ride. A wall ride, simply put, is when you get both your wheels flat on a wall. To do this you need to sort of flip your world on its side. For most BMX riders, this is the first trick that forces them to that. Sure, you need to turn sideways on a quarter pipe, but that’s on a transition which is nothing like a wall ride. This is why wall rides are easiest in places where a wall meets an embankment. The embankment sort of works like a transition, but this trick is also possible to do from flat. Most riders feel comfortable approaching a wall on the side of their dominant foot. So if you coast with your right foot forward like me, you’ll probably want to start by hitting the wall on your right. You'll need to be good at bunny hopping already, and have some experience riding street. By this I mean you’re already hopping on to and over stuff, getting a little creative, and finding spots to session. You’ll need to combine a lot of the things you’ve learned street riding to do a wall ride. One way to start is to find a highway divider like this one, and learn to ride up it a little. Get up some speed and tilt your bike as not to smash your pedal or pegs on it. When coming back off, turn your wheel and pull your bars towards you. You should push yourself to actually hop on. Also learn to tilt yourself to match the angle of your bike, since you’ll need to do that to ride a flat wall. There, you'll need to hop higher and tilt your bike more. Approaching the wall at about a 45 degree angle is the best way to learn as a beginner. Too low of an angle makes it harder to stick the wall ride, and a higher angle can be pretty harsh. Make sure you pull back far enough where the bottom of your wheels are flat with the wall. As long a you don't miss—the wall, you'll at least have the opportunity to save yourself by putting your foot down. Getting off the wall is where your street experience needs to kick in. You'll need to look down at the ground and pull your bars towards you, which is sort of like a 90 degree turn. If you're hitting the wall on the same side as your dominant foot, this should be the same direction you 180 in, and feel pretty natural. So that’s how to wall ride. wall rides are a must learn trick for street riders because they open up so many possibilities. After all, most towns and cities have walls... although I’m sure the bike tire marks are pretty confusing to outsiders. Thanks for riding with me today, and I'll see you next time. Hello and welcome to episode 2 of GBR Thrifts... A very Great British take on thrifting - or charity shopping / bargain shopping / carbooting as it's known over here - and not in any way connected to LGR Thrifts... No sirreeee... that's in America. This is the UK god damn it, and there are British bargains to be had. In today's episode I explore the sprawling nooks of Norwich. In particular Anglia Square and Magdalen Street, which is awash with charity stores, bargain shops, cash generators and quaint vintage shops alike... all potentially holding some retro gaming bounty. Surprisingly I didn't bump into Ashens either. I assume he must hunt these streets late at night, when the true ghouls come out. Apologies for the slightly dodgy camera perspective in this video... it was attached to my coat, but you may be pleased to hear that I've found a new and improved location to clip it to for next time which results in more stability, a better perspective and less hands flying in front of the damn lens! Full transcript available by enabling closed caption (cc) On both my Sync’r Pro and my Mission 2, I have a KS Lev Integra dropper post, which is the integrated version of the normal KS Lev. If you push the switch, the seat post moves freely up and down. If you release it, the seat post locks into place. This is similar to an office chair, except a little more refined. So what do I mean when I say this post is integrated? Well, some bikes come dropper ready, which means they have a port to run a release cable inside the frame. If your bike is dropper ready, you can install pretty much any integrated dropper post, like the Rock Shox Reverb Stealth, or this KS Lev Integra. If your bike isn’t dropper ready, then you can get a normal dropper post and hook the cable up on the outside. This is usually more economical, and easier to install anyway. Once you get accustomed to having a dropper post, you’ll use it all the time. For mountain bikers who have never tried riding with the saddle down low, the benefits may not be immediately obvious. If you fall into that category, I encourage you to drop your saddle and try jumping around a bit. You may find that you can do things you couldn’t before, like maneuvering on to and over pretty big stuff. Once you install your dropper post, you can extend it all the way up and adjust it to your full ride height just like a normal seat post. This way, you can drop it for technical sections, and then pop it back up to your perfect ride height at the flip of a switch. The KS Lev on my Mission has 120mm of travel. On my Sync’r Pro, I purposely bought a 150mm KS Lev since the frame goes lower. Both posts are installed as low as possible, which luckily puts them at my perfect ride height when fully extended. When choosing a post, I was trying to decide between the Rockshox Stealth and the KS Integra. The reason I chose the KS came down to reliability and simplicity, as it uses a cable release as opposed to the hydraulic release on the Rockshox. Sure enough, I took a spill at Grapefruit trails that ripped the cable right out of my dropper post. The repair was easy. If I had the hydraulic release, it would have been significantly more involved to fix. Overall I’m happy with my decision to get the KS Lev. Like most dropper posts you need to keep it clean and make sure it has plenty of air pressure. If I slam it all the way down and leave it overnight, it doesn’t pop up at first without sitting down on it or giving it a good bonk. I’d say this is not really an issue. The seat clamp is pretty basic, but it allows for micro adjustments to the angle of your saddle just like a good seat post should. The release on the bottom of the post is designed so you can disconnect it quickly for service, instead of needing to undo the cable. I’ll also mention that this post comes with a cleverly designed switch, which actually integrates with ODI grips. Although I appreciate the ingenuity, I don’t like using this switch at all, and it constantly rubs on my hand while riding. For a few extra bucks, you can get their Southpaw lever, which is way better, and should come standard in my opinion. The rest of this transcript is available by using the closed caption option. YouTube only allows so much here! KS Lev Integra: http://www.sethsbikehacks.com/product/ks-lev-integra-dropper-seat-post/ Southpaw Lever: http://www.sethsbikehacks.com/product/ks-southpaw-lever/
I have 2 large shoe boxes full of MS-DOS and Windows Floppy disks from the 90s, and so rather than letting them fester, I thought we could all start looking at just what's on this little plastic critters. In particular I'm selecting disks which I've labelled with various items (in my teenage years), and I have no real damn idea about what they are any more. So, let's get started on this DOS and Windows voyage of 3.5" Floppy Disk discovery. This disk purports to hold; Sim City WND Files Windows Retina Relief PC Globe for DOS Dr. Watson Atmoids for Windows All crammed into a single HIGH DENSITY Floppy. That's only 1440kb! If you don't feel like rebuilding it you can always get a new one: https://amzn.to/2Nih0QD Here's a short video on how to rebuild your clutch slave cylinder. The video shows how to rebuild your clutch slave cylinder using a Toyota OEM kit that contains a replacement piston with new o-rings, a new spring and a new rubber boot. This particular clutch slave cylinder fits onto my 1987 Toyota MR2 with the 4AGE engine and C50 transmission, but it also fits on a dozen other Toyota vehicles. Here's the rebuild kit part number if you need it: 04313-22020. Scroll down to the bottom of the description for a full list of cars that are compatible with this clutch slave cylinder rebuild kit. The clutch slave cylinder is easily rebuilt, but you will need an air compressor to pop the little piston out of the cylinder. After that the assembly and rebuild is simple and consists of attaching the new spring and piston to each other, cleaning the inside of the cylinder, lubricating the rubber o-rings of the piston and popping it all the back in and putting the rubber boot and rod back on top. Take note that not all clutch slave cylinders can be rebuilt. Newer models of cars are starting to get clutch slave cylinders that have a plastic housing. These can not be rebuild and are replaced as a whole. The cost for an OEM unit is usually around $100, while an OEM rebuild kit usually costs in the neighbourhood of $20-30. Check out my blog for more MR AW11, 4AGE, and other car stuff: http://www.driving4answers.com/ List of vehicles compatible with the clutch slave cylinder as shown in the video: Date range Model Frames/Options 10/1984-11/1989 TOYOTA STARLET - EP7*,NP70 05/1983-06/1988 TOYOTA COROLLA - EE80,AE8*,CE80 05/1987-04/1992 TOYOTA COROLLA - EE9*,AE9*,CE90 05/1987-10/1992 TOYOTA COROLLA - EE90,AE92,CE90 05/1983-06/1987 TOYOTA COROLLA - AE86 08/1979-06/1987 TOYOTA COROLLA - KE70,AE71,TE7*,CE70 11/1984-11/1989 TOYOTA MR2 - AW11 08/1977-06/1981 TOYOTA CARINA - TA4*(A) 08/1981-08/1983 TOYOTA CARINA - TA6*,CA60 08/1977-06/1981 TOYOTA CELICA - TA40B,RA40B 08/1981-11/1985 TOYOTA CELICA - AA63,TA60,SA63,RA6*,MA61 08/1985-07/1987 TOYOTA CELICA - AT160,ST162 08/1987-07/1989 TOYOTA CELICA - AT160,ST16* 09/1978-12/1982 TOYOTA CORONA - TT13*,RT13*,XT130 01/1982-06/1999 TOYOTA CORONA FR CT14*,RT14*,ST141,TT14*,YT140 10/1983-10/1987 TOYOTA CARINA 2, CORONA AT151,ST15*,CT150 12/1987-02/1992 TOYOTA CARINA 2 AT17*,ST171,CT171 10/1982-09/1986 TOYOTA CAMRY SV1*,CV1* 10/1986-07/1988 TOYOTA CAMRY SV2*,CV20,VZV21 08/1988-05/1991 TOYOTA CAMRY SV2*,CV20,VZV21 01/1986-07/1988 TOYOTA SUPRA MA70 08/1988-04/1993 TOYOTA SUPRA MA70 09/1980-03/1985 TOYOTA CRESSIDA TX62,RX6*,MX6*,LX60 08/1984-07/1988 TOYOTA CRESSIDA YX70,RX7*,GX71,MX7*,LX7* 09/1979-06/1983 TOYOTA CROWN RS110,MS11*,LS110 08/1983-07/1987 TOYOTA CROWN YS120,MS12*,LS120 10/1979-07/1985 TOYOTA LITEACE KM20,YM2*,CM20 10/1985-07/1988 TOYOTA LITEACE KM3*,CM35 08/1988-12/1991 TOYOTA LITEACE KM3*,CM3* 11/1982-07/1988 TOYOTA MODEL-F YR2*,31,CR21 08/1978-02/1984 TOYOTA HILUX RN3*,4*,LN3*,4* 08/1983-06/1998 TOYOTA HILUX LN5*,6*,YN5*,6*,RN5*,6* 03/1979-01/2000 TOYOTA STOUT RK110,YK110 08/1985-07/1987 TOYOTA DYNA 100 YH8*,LH80 08/1987-04/1995 TOYOTA DYNA 100 YH81,LH80 12/1982-06/1988 TOYOTA HIACE YH5*,6*,7*,LH5*,6*,7* 08/1989-01/2006 TOYOTA HIACE LH1**,RZH10*,11*,125,135,15* 08/1987-07/1989 TOYOTA HIACE YH5*,6*,LH5*,6* 08/1989-07/1995 TOYOTA HIACE LH10*,11*,RZH10*,11* 08/1985-07/1987 TOYOTA DYNA 150 YY5*,6*,LY60 08/1987-04/1995 TOYOTA DYNA 150 YY61,LY6* 09/1984-07/1987 TOYOTA DYNA BU6*,7*,8* 08/1987-07/1988 TOYOTA DYNA BU6*,7*,8*,9* 09/1984-07/1987 TOYOTA DYNA RU75,85,YU6*,7*,8*,WU9* 11/1984-12/1989 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER RJ7*,LJ7*,BJ7* 01/1990-07/2001 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER BJ73,LJ7*,RJ7*,HZJ7*,PZJ7*,KZJ7* 05/1982-12/1992 TOYOTA COASTER RB2*,BB2*,3*,HB3*,FB30,HDB30,HZB30 #d4a #clutch #toyota #clutchslavecylinder #4age #4age16v #aw11 #ae86 #4agebigport #mr2mk1 #mr2 #rebuild #jdm #celica #corolla #starlet #ke70 #fx16 #diy #how

If you’ve come to mountain biking by way of BMX, you might find it hard to hop around on a squishy bike. After all, shocks are not designed for bouncing, in fact they’re designed to absorb bumps and keep you from getting bucked off your bike. On a rigid BMX or trials bike, the response is instant. Pull up, and the bike comes up with you. Even on a hardtail, your forks squish when you try to pull up. On a full suspension, you have a rear shock to account for as well, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hop around, it’s all about timing. In fact, hopping around with shocks is a lot of fun, since rough terrain gets smoothed out like a skate ramp. We’ve talked about preloading before on hardtails, where you crouch down and compress your front suspension, allowing you to spring back up into an American bunnyhop. On a full suspension bike, you need to preload both your front and rear to get up off the ground. Although this is done in two steps, you really need to think of it as one fluid motion. Let’s take a closer look. First start by directing your weight downwards over the fork, compressing it as much as possible. As you pull back, your rear suspension will compress. Notice how your legs should be bent, ready to spring upwards. Now in one fluid motion, you’re going to jump upwards and pull the bike with you using the handlebars. That’s how you bunny hop a full squish, or any bike for that matter. The most popular question is, “how do I get the rear off the ground”. My answer? You need to jump with your legs. Don’t focus on your feet and pedals. Making an upside down J with your handlebars is all you need to get your bike up. See here how the bars are what lead the hop. Just like jumping off a diving board, it’s your legs that ultimately help your defeat gravity. So, jump with your legs, and pull the bike up with your arms. Doing a proper bunny hop comes naturally to some, but it didn’t for me. It was probably about 2 years of riding BMX every day before I could hop high. Of course, I didn’t have YouTube. Just a whole bunch of time, and some friends trying to learn the same thing. If you’re getting discouraged, keep in mind that I’m a 5’ 4” web developer with asthma—not exactly the profile of an athlete. Nevertheless, I was able to get my 32 pound all mountain bike on to a picnic table with a little practice. It all comes down to repetition and timing.

In this project for SIGBOVIK 2016, I try to make an emulator that can play classic NES games in three dimensional first-person view. I pretend it's because I think Ocarina of Time is beloved for being 3D, and so try to give the 3D treatment to the original Legend of Zelda. But really, Ocarina of Time is a great game, and clumsy 3D is unplayable. I give a bit of tutorial about how the NES and this technique work, and explain how we can use science to automate it. With both Amiga and Atari ST done, it's time for DOS Games, and once again, I list my Top 7 MS-DOS Games, based from my gradually fading memory of time spent within each game. DOS holds a very special place in my nostalgic mind, mainly for the hours I poured into getting games to work with config.sys and autoexec.bat and all the subtle nuances involved with base memory and drivers. It was sheer, sheer, exhaustive FUN (from my perspective at least), and it made getting the game to run that much more of an adventure in itself. So without further ado...
