Following the American Revolution, the new nation’s culture of "rugged individualism" and anti-institutionalism spilled directly into the church. As pioneers expanded westward over the Appalachian Mountains, denominations like the Methodists and Baptists followed, utilizing circuit-riding preachers and massive, highly emotional camp meetings to reach the frontier. We will look at the profound good that came out of this era, including the establishment of Sunday schools, literacy programs, and a massive Evangelical push for the abolition of slavery. But we'll also examine the extremes. We'll head into New York's famous "Burned-Over District," look at Charles Finney’s controversial "anxious bench" revival tactics, and unpack the bizarre apocalyptic panic of the Millerites, culminating in the infamous "Great Disappointment" of 1844. In 2015 the bees are still dying in masses. Which at first seems not very important until you realize that one third of all food humans consume would disappear with them. Millions could starve. The foes bees face are truly horrifying – some are a direct consequence of human greed. We need to help our small buzzing friends or we will face extremely unpleasant consequences. If you own a mountain bike, you should have these tools at the bare minimum. Decent floor pump: http://amzn.to/1HdEhXm Good tire levers: http://amzn.to/1HdEolU Starter multi tool: http://amzn.to/1gmLtLl Sweet multi tool: http://amzn.to/1HdEDxr Suspension pump: http://amzn.to/1RjmYzk Cheap pedal wrench: http://amzn.to/1NQO7E7 Awesome pedal wrench: http://amzn.to/1LRipaN This video is to go over the bare minimum of tools you need if you own a mountain bike. I really mean it when I say “bare minimum" Obviously we could talk about spoke wrenches, cassette removers, and a variety of other specialty bike tools, but today we’re only interested in what you need to have just to own a mountain bike. So here’s your answer. A floor pump, some tire levers, and a multi tool. Sure, you’ll need to go to your local bike shop for most repairs, but to change a flat, top off your air pressure, or make adjustments you should be good to go. Let’s review each tool. I think the floor pump comes in first because…. because fuck hand pumps, that’s why. You’ll use this at least once per week, and more if you get flats. Get a floor pump and thank me later. Pretty much all modern mountain bikes have quick release skewers, so the only tool you need to change a flat is a tire lever, and a new tube of course. Please don’t use a screwdriver, this is Seth’s bike HACKS, but even I don’t condone fucking up your rim over a $5 set of tire levers. Finally, we have our multi tool. Multi tools come in many shapes and sizes, but most will have all the allen keys you need, plus a few extras like screwdrivers. To adjust your bars, change your saddle height, or tighten obviously loose bolts this will do just fine. Obviously we left out a lot of tools, but as I stated earlier we’re talking about the bare minimum you’ll NEED. Let’s talk about a few other tools you may want to invest in, even if you don’t plan on doing your own bike repairs. Firstly a pedal wrench would be a good investment. Sure, many pedals these days are fastened with a hex, but if you have a pedal like this one you’ll be damned trying to use a crescent wrench. You’ll scratch the shit out of your crank arm trying. Plus, pedal wrenches double as a 15mm for bolt on wheels like this one. If you’re changing between flats and clips, investing $15 on a pedal wrench will save you a lot of hassle, plus give you some added bonuses. Lastly, and some of you may disagree, but I think a suspension pump is a must have for any mountain biker with suspension forks or rear shocks. Yes, this is the apitamy of a specialty tool, but it’s very simple to use and can save you some headaches. I like to run my shocks softer on the trails and harder on the street, so I’d be lost without this. So, that’s pretty much it. If you just got a shiny new mountain bike, I hope you left the shop with at least a floor pump. You can get any of these items at your local bike shop, but if you want them now, check the description for some good buys on amazon. Until then, thanks for watching, and I’ll see you next time.

Bill tears apart a film projector to reveal the amazing mechanisms used in the pre-digital age to trick the mind into seeing a moving image. He uses high speed photography and animations to show how the projector moves the film intermittently, how a shutter strategically blocks light as the film moves, and how the photo sensor reads the sound. He explains how all these mechanisms are synced. You can become an advanced viewer of engineerguy videos by signing up at http://www.engineerguy.com/preview.

I had to rethink my design as my 3D printed parts were a little bit too heavy and what happens in the film is technically impossible. I’ve tried to get as close as possible to what happens by forming a helmet that opens out and almost disappears behind the suit. I use a thermoforming technique to bend the sheets of plastic into the shapes I need for the separate parts of the helmet and I’d say it was fairly effective. This is part 35 of a series that I’ve been running for over a year. In this series, I build a complete Iron Man Hulkbuster cosplay with animatronics and mechatronics with a step-by-step guide to cover everything you’ll need to build your very own suit. From 3D printing the parts to installing the mechanics that make this whole suit wearable and actually able to walk around. ① GENIUS No MacArthur grant yet. Fisheye Lens: http://amzn.to/1LMtJVI Hook & Loop Strap: http://amzn.to/1dG8IOC Today we’re going to make a DIY action camera out of an old phone. An old phone with a smashed screen is almost worthless, but camera still works so we can use it for our action cam. Most real action cams feature a wide angle lens to get more close up action in on the shot, so we’ll need to spend $7 on amazon for a stick on lens. This kit actually comes with a few of them, but we’ll only be using the fisheye. You can use tape, or even a belt, but I used this two sided hook & loop fastener for 6 bucks. First, glue the fisheye on to the center of the phone camera lens. Be careful not to get any glue on the glass. I’m using hot glue so that I can peel it off if I make a mistake. The trick is to glue it on while it’s really hot, or the lens will likely pop off later. You can use silicone glue for a better adhesion. Next, we glue the strap to the phone, right on the end. If you were able to get free shipping, this whole hack only cost us $14, versus $120 for an entry level GoPro hero. This works well, but I’m sure we can still make it better. Share any ideas you have in the comments on a handlebar mount, helmet mount, or ways we can make this design more effective.

You guys asked for more bunny hop tutorials, so here we go again. I’ll try to explain things a little differently this time to gain other perspectives we may have missed the first time around. Firstly, before you dive into bunnyhops you may want to consider mastering some of the other ways you can get up and over things. For instance, getting your front tire onto something and pushing forwards is a great way to start learning the motions. It’s also a very useful mountain biking skill. Before you do this, or a bunnyhop, you need to master getting your front wheel off the ground. Riding on your rear wheel without pedaling is called manual, but you’ll only need to pop it up for a second to bunny hop. Make sure to keep your arms straight, and bring your body weight as far back as possible. Master this technique and bunny hopping will be much easier. Once you have this technique figured out, you want to push forwards and up on your handlebars to get into a bunny hop. Your thumbs and palms should be pushing on the bars from the back side, heaving the bike upwards. This is the key to doing a really high bunny hop. As you’re doing this, you can bring your legs up so that they don’t hold the bike down. This demonstration is with platform pedals, so I want to stress that it’s your arms doing the work. The only reason we bring our legs up is so that they don’t hold the bike down. For some extra pointers and techniques, watch my tutorial on how to manual, how to side hop, and my original how "to bunny hop tutorial" for beginners. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you next time.

Don't want to spend a fortune on a DSLR car mount? Make your own for less than half the price of stuff offered in stores. Sorry for the brief departure from the MR2 content. I have been a little busy and couldn't spend time in the garage, so I used my free time at home to make this suction cup DSLR car holder. I figured I was going to need something like this once my Toyota MR2 is ready for driving. I checked out the prices online and I didn't like them. After looking at some pictures I realized I could make this myself. Supplies - Glass pane suction holder / suction dent puller - Threader kit - Cheap car camera holder (metal body) Watch the video to see how to make it. Spend $30 insted of $90 Music: Stoned Troopers - Dolphin
Often dismissed today as simply a fiery, angry Puritan who preached Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, Edwards' true story is far more complex. In this lecture, we unpack the rapidly changing world of pre-revolutionary New England and look at Edwards not as a caricature, but as a towering intellect, an early president of Princeton, and a pivotal force in the First Great Awakening. We will explore his roots in the prominent Stoddard and Mather pastoral legacy, the mounting cultural pressure for true spiritual "heart conversions," and why his most famous sermon was actually preached to a crowd that already agreed with his theology. Finally, we'll look at the tragic circumstances of his untimely death while championing the science of smallpox inoculation. Side hopping is a very useful technique for on and off the trails, since it allows you to shift your entire bike laterally. Hopefully you already know how to bunnyhop. This is a slight variation on the bunny hop, as we’re just pulling up and to the side. To learn this technique, practice doing manuals while pulling your front wheel to one side. This will set you up for the “pop” part where you push forwards into a bunnyhop. Putting your seat down is going to help out a lot too while learning Like anything else, you’re best off starting small, like on white lines in the street. Once you have the technique down, try hopping on to a curb or something low. Just like a normal bunny hop, committing to bringing your front wheel up really high is going to result in a higher hop, and just like a bunny hop you don’t need to rely on clips or straps to bring the back wheel up. Just get your front wheel off the ground and push forwards.
Manuals are a very important bike skill because they can set you up for so many different things, like bunny hopping, for instance. To get into a manual, bend down on to your handlebars and pop up with your arms straight out. If you look down, you’ll stay down, so look directly ahead with your eyes. Shift your body weight back as far as possible, and stay low down. If you think of a bike like a seesaw, you’ll need to think of the rear wheel as the middle part. To put more weight behind the rear wheel, you’ll need to really commit. For new riders, this can be a bit scary, so the front wheel ends up popping up a couple of inches and never really comes all the way back. If you’re having this problem, you’re going to need to practice deliberately falling off the back of the bike to overcome your fear. If you’re riding platform pedals while learning, you can always hop off the back if you pull up too far. Once you learn that, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Once you get your front wheel up, bend your knees. Bending them more makes the front wheel go down, and extending your legs brings the front wheel up. By bending and extending you can keep yourself balanced. once you nail this technique, you can extend your legs quickly and push your bars forwards to hop. This can help you hop on to something and even keep manualling. There’s a whole world of impressive combo’s you can try while shredding the trails, or just dicking around in the street. Thanks for watching, and leave any questions you have in the comments for me, and other YouTubers to answer. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you next time.
