Today I’m going to give you a quick overview of the newest CNC router from Inventables called X-Carve. It’s got 50% less parts than the ShapeOko 2 which means it takes 50% less time to assemble. One power supply to power everything, and a new spindle mount for more rigidity and accuracy. This machine is open source and completely customizable. I’m going to show you a technique to make this sign and keeping all the small pieces properly spaced. This technique can be used with any CNC projects that involve small pieces where alignment is key. Aside from being a bit clumsy to use, the Mako makes up for it by being super compact, lightweight, versatile, and capable of turning a 15mm bolt. The only thing I would say is, you may have to put your foot on it to turn a really tight bolt, since the tool itself is short and narrow.

The Dominant Pentatonic Scale is much less well known than its Minor 7th cousin, but it's definitely worth exploring and learning how to apply it to your own improvisations. The big challenge for a beginner though, is to bridge the gap between just playing scales and playing the music that is actually inside of you. Making music with the pentatonic scale is a great way to start because it is one of the fundamental building blocks of pretty much any musical style and can be used as a stepping stone to develop a full musical vocabulary.
