Note: this cartoon has been noted as a precursor to the animated series "The Jetsons", which borrowed heavily on the ideas presented in the cartoon including a three-hour work day, automated flying cars, and robotic arms performing most tasks. 0:00 Main titles. Standard 22-inch seatbacks offer little support, while 28-inch seatbacks or properly designed head restraints significantly reduce injury risk. It also stresses the importance of seat strength, as unbraced seats can collapse in high-speed crashes, worsening injuries. Rear-end crashes often result from inattention, poor brakes, or unsafe following distances. The height and rigidity of the seatback determine how much strain is placed on your neck. 2:29: Seatback height: A standard 22-inch seatback spreads impact forces across all seven cervical vertebrae. A 25-inch seat back actually focuses more strain on fewer vertebrae, making it potentially more dangerous. A 28-inch rigid seatback protects the neck by preventing excessive movement, reducing the risk of whiplash. 3:07: Whiplash can lead to muscle and ligament damage, long-term discomfort, or even permanent disability. Seat belts don’t protect the neck. Use of crash tests with anthropometric dummies to study how seatback height and strength could minimize whiplash injuries. 4:13:Even a 10 mph rear-end collision created enough force to simulate lifting your own body weight with another person on your back. Dummies in front seats with 28-inch seatbacks or headrests experienced little to no whiplash, while rear passengers without proper head support hit the sloped rear glass, increasing injury risk. 5:14:4 million rear end collisions occur annually in the U.S. In many cases, poorly maintained brakes or distracted driving are to blame. 6:44: at 30 mph, crash test forces resemble those faced by Navy pilots during a catapult launch. In one test, a driver with a 22-inch seatback was severely whiplashed and thrown so far back that his eyes faced out the rear window. In contrast, a 28-inch modified seatback significantly reduced injury risk, although unprotected rear passengers still suffered from impact with the window. 8:00: 55 mph crash tests, where forces double those felt during an astronaut's liftoff. In one test, the struck car was pushed 94 feet, its trunk crushed, and simulated fuel spilled onto the pavement. Well-braced 28-inch seatbacks effectively prevented this. Padding or shelves in the rear can help reduce head rotation and injuries.12:05:Driver awareness remains vital. Agenten hebben begin april voorkomen dat bij een AZC in Osdorp asielzoekers slachtoffer zijn geworden van geweld. Dat stelt het Openbaar Ministerie tijdens een zogeheten pro forma zitting. De 42-jarige Marcel de G. raakte in beeld door opvallend gedrag rond de locatie van het COA, bij zijn aanhouding werden twee messen gevonden in het opbergvak van zijn motorscooter. De moord op Lisa was voor hem reden om een statement te maken. "Jullie zijn net op tijd, ik wilde iets ergs gaan doen. Ik wilde hier meerdere mensen gaan neersteken", vertelt de 42-jarige Marcel de G. kort na zijn aanhouding aan de Willinklaan in Osdorp. Hij is op dat moment van plan asielzoekers te doden die hij aanduidt als raddraaiers, blijkt uit gesprekken met de politie. De man valt in de avond van 7 april op door zijn opvallende gedrag. Twee agenten zien de man schichtig om zich heen kijken, hij draait de hele tijd met zijn hoofd als een politievoertuig langsrijdt. Ook als hij naar de ingang van de locatie rijdt en zijn motorscooter parkeert, vertoont hij datzelfde gedrag. Als de agenten zijn kenteken controleren blijkt dat de man als vermist was opgegeven en eerder suïcidale uitspraken had gedaan. Als agenten hem daarop aanspreken bekent hij direct zijn plan: "Ik wilde een statement maken aan de mensen die het voor alle asielzoekers verkloten." De politie vindt op aanwijzing van de G. twee messen in het opbergvak van zijn scooter. Vlak daarvoor zou hij een vuurwapen in een slootje hebben gegooid. Dat wilde hij niet gebruiken. De moord op Lisa was voor hem reden om een statement te maken. De G. was als schilder aan het werk vlak bij de plaats delict en had het witte laken zien liggen. Volgens zijn advocaat is dat beeld niet meer uit zijn hoofd gegaan. De man wordt verdacht van een poging tot moord met een terroristisch oogmerk. Hierdoor zit de 42-jarige op de terrorismeafdeling van de gevangenis in Vught. Zijn advocaat Hester Pleiter vroeg vandaag om af te zien van de verdenking om hem van de afdeling te halen. Uit onderzoek zou blijken dat hij geen terroristisch gedachtegoed heeft. Op zijn telefoon is alleen een video aangetroffen over de situatie rond asielzoekers in Nederland. "Verder blijkt niet dat er racistische of haatdragende berichten zijn gestuurd", aldus Pleiter. Volgens de raadsvrouw zat de man al langer niet lekker in zijn vel. Het is heet en de komende dagen loopt de temperatuur alleen maar verder op. Verspreid over de stad zijn deze week speciale koelteplekken gecreëerd waar mensen terechtkunnen om af te koelen of bijvoorbeeld water te drinken. In Osdorp opent een moskee voor de buurt zelfs de deuren waar de hele dag de airco aanstaat.  In de hele stad geldt sinds deze week het Hitteplan en daarom openen de zogenoemde koelteplekken als een proef. Mensen kunnen daar terecht als het in eigen huis bijvoorbeeld veel te warm wordt. Op dit moment doen 12 plekken in de stad mee aan de proef, waaronder de kerk De Ark, het Meervaart theater en de OBA Slotermeer. "Dit is een van de koelteplekken die we hebben ingericht", legt Eline Coolen uit in de bibliotheek in Slotermeer. Volgens de hittecoördinator van de GGD Amsterdam kunnen mensen daar in alle rust zitten om even af te koelen of wat water te drinken. "Of natuurlijk om een spelletje te spelen of te babbelen met buren", grapt Coolen.  De gemeente richt zich met de koelteplekken vooral op stadsdelen waar de risico's het grootst zijn. "Zoals in Nieuw-West en Zuidoost", benadrukt Coolen. Describing the DSA as a key part of the "grassroots base" of the left wing of the Democratic Party, Featherstone says DSA members want elected leaders who have come out of movements themselves, not just lifelong politicians who only turn to movements for endorsements every four years. Palestine is a key issue in many of the races, with DSA challengers taking a strong stand against genocide, while some incumbents have received large donations from AIPAC-linked super PACs. "People are absolutely disgusted with the U.S. relationship with Israel, absolutely appalled by the killing that we've seen," says Featherstone. The 76-year-old spent more than 25 years working to protect endangered sea turtles, and her work helped turn a stretch of southern Lebanon's coastline into one of the most important nesting sites for endangered sea turtles in the eastern Mediterranean. Khalil lived in "the Orange House" — her grandmother's home, which she helped transform into a refuge for endangered sea turtles, an ecotourism site and a training ground in ecological conservation for a generation of volunteers. "This is not a project that belongs to me," she once said. "It belongs to Lebanon. It belongs to the whole world." A refugee of the Lebanese civil war, Khalil returned to Lebanon from the Netherlands in 1999 and began her conservation work after seeing a turtle laying eggs on the beach near her family's seaside home. Since then, Mona rarely left her home and the beach she had spent years protecting. "Mona was like a symbol of hope, of life and of resistance in south Lebanon, and probably that's one of the reasons she was killed," says Rami Khashab, a Lebanese herpetologist who worked alongside Khalil.
