Het WK is begonnen! ⚽️ Een toernooi dat verbindt, net als eten! 🧡 Nederland is natuurlijk rijk aan goeie restaurants met keukens van over de hele wereld. Daarom duiken we deze weken een aantal wereldse WK keukens in! Op de Albert Cuypstraat in Amsterdam vind je Ikigai Sushi, een delivery en take-away restaurant dat wordt gerund door Evert. Een Nederlander, die z’n hart heeft verpand aan sushi. Traditioneel en zonder poespas: geen mayo of gefrituurde uitjes, maar zo puur mogelijk, met de beste ingrediënten. Zo’n twintig jaar geleden, toen Evert na vijf jaar in New York gewoond te hebben weer in Amsterdam terugkwam, miste hij hier de sushi zoals hij die daar at. ‘t Was er wel, maar niet zoals hij het zocht. Dus verliet hij z’n baan en ging hij in de leer bij een sushi-master. Fast forward en Evert heeft nu ruim 2 jaar z’n eigen sushi-restaurant in Amsterdam, zijn eigen ‘ikigai’ (reden van bestaan). En dat gaat hartstikke goed. Zo is het een komen en gaan van bezorgers die maaltijden naar hongerige klanten brengen. Bij AT5 krijgen we de laatste tijd berichten van Amsterdammers dat het ze opvalt dat er rondvaartboten met een striptease-act aan boord langsvaren. Google het en je ziet meteen al tien websites met aanbieders. Ariel en Dave wonen met uitzicht op het water en vinden het maar niks dat ze zonder dat ze dat willen getuige zijn van zo'n vrijgezellenfeestje. Zeker ook omdat hun jonge kinderen steeds ongewild worden blootgesteld aan strippers. Het gebeurde afgelopen weekend nog, vertelt Ariel aan haar keukentafel. Ze zijn vorig najaar in hun appartement aan de Valkenburgerstraat komen wonen, met uitzicht op de Uilenburgergracht. Ze kijkt vreemd op als ze in januari naar buiten kijkt en wordt getrakteerd op een act van een stripper op een rondvaartboot. Het blijkt niet de laatste keer, want de afgelopen maanden telde het gezin voor de dertiende keer een langsvarende striptease-act. "Boten komen voorbij en dan horen we gejuich", beschrijft Ariel. "Dat trekt de aandacht en dan zie je een vrouw zonder kleren of met heel weinig kleren aan dansen, zittend bovenop een man. Of op de blote billen slaan. We hebben hier te veel gezien." Verboden Het is bij wet verboden, zo laat een woordvoerder van wethouder Scholtes (Varen) weten. Openbare striptease-acts mogen niet, dat geldt ook voor strippers op rondvaartboten, want de grachten zijn onderdeel van de openbare ruimte. Volgens de woordvoerder kunnen mensen melding maken als ze toch een stripper op een boot zien. Owen Het gezin kan er dus wel dertien opnoemen en Owen, die 11 jaar is, vindt het niet fijn dat hij deze striptease-acts gezien heeft. "Wat ik wil is dat de boten met de seksshows niet meer langs ons raam komen. Ik ben 11, ik vind het niet geschikt voor mijn leeftijd. Ik ben te jong en ik heb nog een broertje en een zusje van 2 en 5 en een broer van 15. Zij, vooral die twee kleintjes, horen dat echt niet te zien." Dat dit ook kan gebeuren als de kinderen de tv aanzetten, vindt moeder Ariel geen argument om de boten maar te laten varen. "Als je er zelf voor kiest om dat in je leven te laten, dan respecteren we dat", geeft ze aan. "Maar dit is in het openbaar en mensen hebben er niet bewust voor gekozen, inclusief kinderen, dan gaat dat een grens over. Hiervan kunnen de gordijnen dicht zodat het niet zichtbaar is van buitenaf, laat de vrijgezellenfeestorganisator weten. Eigen entertaiment Het gezin zag de strippers ook voorbij varen op boten van de grotere rederijen uit de stad, zoals Starboard en Flagship. Laatstgenoemde gaf in een reactie aan zelf geen rondvaarten met strippers aan te bieden, maar dat hun boten voor privécharters kunnen worden geboekt. "Het kan daarbij voorkomen dat dergelijke partijen zelf entertainment inhuren voor hun besloten evenement. Voor alle activiteiten aan boord gelden onze huisregels. (...) German culture shock about baby tooth 🇩🇪🦷 As an Iraqi immigrant in Germany, I was not prepared for this: kids here actually keep their milk teeth. Not under the pillow. Not thrown away. Kept in a little box as a childhood souvenir. In Iraq, it’s the complete opposite. Keeping a baby tooth is considered bad luck — so it’s thrown far away, often into a garden or the woods, with a small saying to bless the child with a beautiful smile. Same tooth. Completely different traditions. Cultural differences are wild sometimes. That's why we show you here the cultural differences and shocks that immigrants or tourists have in Germany.
