In een sportschool aan de Remijden in Osdorp heeft vannacht een zware explosie plaatsgevonden. Daarbij zijn zeker zeven mensen gewond geraakt. De sportschool zat in een bijgebouw van een flat, waarvan zo'n vierhonderd bewoners geëvacueerd zijn. Mogelijk liggen er nog mensen onder het puin. De reddingsactie duurt tot zeker 18.00 vanavond. De eerste melding kwam binnen rond 00.15 uur, waarna de hulpdiensten massaal uitrukten. Omwonenden kregen van de brandweer al snel het advies om ramen en deuren gesloten te houden. In de sportschool waar vannacht in Osdorp de explosie heeft plaatsgevonden, zat ook een fysiotherapiepraktijk. Eigenaar Jan reageert emotioneel op de gebeurtenis: "Ik trof ellende aan." "Ik heb al zestien jaar een praktijk in de sportschool", vertelt Jan. "Ik ben om 01.00 uur vannacht opgebeld, en toen hoorde ik dat de sportschool geëxplodeerd is. Toen hoorde ik ook dat er gewonden waren." Hij weet niet hoe het met de gewonden gaat. "Ik hoop dat het goed met ze gaat, dat is het allerbelangrijkste. Mijn praktijk kun je nog vervangen." Na het telefoontje is hij direct naar de plek van de explosie gegaan. "Ik trof daar ellende aan. Ik heb tot vier, vijf uur vanochtend rondgelopen met mijn ziel onder mijn arm. Het is heel triest." De gebeurtenis valt hem mentaal zwaar, vertelt hij. "Ik heb daar zestien jaar gewerkt, met heel veel plezier. Ik denk dat het nu helemaal platgegooid wordt, en dan wordt het kijken wat woningcorporatie Stadgenoot doet." Jan vertelt dat hij zich vooral machteloos voelt. "Ik zou graag iets willen doen en mensen helpen, maar ik kan gewoon niks." Hij heeft vannacht samen met de sportschooleigenaren op het politiebureau gezeten. "Om elkaar te ondersteunen. In een flatgebouw in Amsterdam Nieuw-West zijn aan het begin van de nacht bij een explosie en de daaropvolgende brand zeker zeven mensen gewond geraakt. Vierhonderd omwonenden zijn geëvacueerd.

In Osdorp heeft vannacht een zware explosie plaatsgevonden. Daardoor zijn er zeven mensen gewond geraakt. Er wordt nog gezocht naar meer slachtoffers. Kijk hier live naar beelden van de situatie op dit moment. Burgemeester Femke Halsema is gearriveerd op de plek van de explosie. Te zien is dat ze in gesprek is met hulpdiensten die voor de flat aan de Remijden staan. Twee brandweerlieden in uniform lopen over een trottoir, met in de buurt een aantal mensen in gewone kleding. Langs het pad staan fietsen geparkeerd en op de achtergrond zijn hulpverleningsvoertuigen te zien. Na haar gesprek met de hulpverleners ter plaatse geeft ze een eerste reactie. "Het onderzoek is nog in volle gang, dus daar kan ik nog weinig over zeggen. Er is ook nog geen sein 'brand meester' gegeven", vertelt de burgemeester. Ook over de toestand van de slachtoffers kan ze nog niks kwijt. "Omwonenden zijn opgevangen in een hotel bij Schiphol, daar ga ik zo naartoe." Halsema benadrukt dat het niet de eerste keer is dat er explosies plaatsvinden in deze wijk. "Dat is verschrikkelijk. Dit is een buurt die langzaam aan het herstellen en het verbeteren is. Veel inwoners kampen met problemen van armoede en achterstand, en waar we dus ook al geruime tijd relatief veel explosies hebben.
