Gabriela Soto's husband Martín was one of the leaders of the May hunger strike at the immigration jail. Martín was transferred to Elizabeth Detention Center, New Jersey's other ICE facility, during the hunger strike at Delaney. Gabriela is calling for the closure of both facilities. "At first, I was fighting for my husband, but then I started to meet all of these people who are just innocent, and they are the people that make this country great," says Soto, who blames her recent miscarriage on the stress of her husband being detained. "I am still grieving," she says. "To me, this is an ICE murder, too."

Visit https://www.patreon.com/PeriscopeFilm Produced by Magpie Films, "One Way Ticket" is a drug education film that portrays the dangers and psychological consequences of drug use. At a party, a girl named Judy is persuaded to try LSD for the first time, resulting in a terrifying bad trip that leads to her hospitalization. The incident prompts serious discussions among her friends and a doctor about the unpredictable effects of LSD, its mental risks, and the false sense of control users often believe they have. The film then explores substances including cannabis, amphetamines, and barbiturates, showing how their misuse can lead to dependency, mental health crises, and physical harm. Through personal testimonies the film emphasizes how drug use can escalate from casual experimentation to life-threatening addiction. It challenges the notion of “soft” drugs being safe and highlights the long-term consequences of substance abuse on individuals' health, judgment, and futures. The film features some actual addicts, as well as actors. It was written and produced by Denham Wright, and directed by Edmund Marshall. 0:00: People arriving at a party. Wes and Judy meet and settle in. 2:00 : A group discusses trying LSD ("acid"). Judy agrees to take it after reassurance from others 3:11:Judy starts having a bad reaction (bad trip). She pleads for help. 4:20: Friends decide to get medical help. 5:42: At the hospital, a doctor examines Judy. He confirms she’s very unwell and discusses the unpredictability and dangers of LSD. Her friends express regret, fear legal consequences, and recall others who have had bad trips. 7:05: The doctor further explains the psychological dangers of LSD. It affects the brain directly, causing hallucinations and potential long-term mental disturbances. He notes that while LSD is not physically addictive, it can be mentally habit-forming. 8:55:Conversation shifts to cannabis (marijuana). Friends debate its relative safety. The doctor acknowledges that cannabis doesn’t cause physical addiction like heroin, but notes it can still affect health and motivation, and may lead to psychological dependence. 10:29: Cannabis can impair judgment and promote escapism rather than helping users confront life challenges. A friend has become unmotivated due to regular pot use. 11:21: Cannabis may not lead directly to harder drugs, but tolerance and curiosity can result in people trying stronger substances. A patient named Paul started on pep pills and ended up seriously ill from heroin use. 13:05:A heroin user describes the extreme dependence, withdrawal symptoms, and physical degradation caused by addiction. He explains the desperation of addiction, including using dirty water to inject drugs. 14:00:The addict continues detailing the physical toll, including injury and hospitalization, all for the sake of getting the drug into his body. 15:01: Discussion shifts to amphetamines ("pep pills"). They initially produce euphoria and energy, but are followed by intense comedowns, sleeplessness, and eventually dependency. 16:04: Doctor describes the dangers of amphetamines: increased blood pressure, heart strain, and especially severe psychological effects—paranoia, hallucinations, and psychosis. 17:26: A user recounts a psychotic episode from staying awake on pep pills, believing someone was trying to kill him. He hallucinated vividly and needed psychiatric help. 18:27: Julie, the girl from earlier, is now calmer and being moved to a hospital ward. The doctor says there's nothing more to be done tonight. 19:17: A new patient is admitted with suspected barbiturate (sleeping pill) overdose. 20:12:Police recount finding two unconscious people at a flat in disarray. The girl describes how her depression led her to take barbiturates. She nearly died without realizing it and feels ashamed of losing self-control. 21:18:Harsh reality of addiction—desperation, degradation, and self-deception, showing the cyclical and tragic nature of drug misuse. Support our work: https://democracynow.org/donate/sm-desc-yt In the wake of a third ICE death at the Delaney Hall ICE jail in Newark, New Jersey, we speak with Gabriela Soto, whose husband Martín was one of the leaders of the May hunger strike at the immigration jail. "To me, this is an ICE murder, too." This comes as Edwin Lopez-Cornejo, a Salvadoran immigrant, died Saturday after being held for six weeks at Delaney Hall. He is the third immigrant to die at the ICE jail, which has been open since May 2025. Lopez-Cornejo's mother, Maria Cornejo, says her son took medicine to manage diabetes, seizures and his blood pressure, but had not received his medications regularly since being detained. ICE said in a statement that Lopez-Conejo experienced a "medical emergency" on Saturday and was transported to University Hospital in Newark, but Maria Cornejo says her son died at Delaney Hall. More than 70 people inside the ICE jail have filed lawsuits alleging medical neglect. That neglect was one of the factors that led to the hunger strike. "Individuals are not receiving the kind of healthcare that they in fact need, particularly for chronic health conditions, for pregnancies, for cancers," says Analilia Mejia, Democratic congressmember from New Jersey. "Being undocumented should not be a death sentence." Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs on over 1,500 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday.

He’s a man born into power… the heart of the axis of evil. He tortures and executes hundreds of thousands of his own people with his finger held closely to the button. This is the story of a man with an insatiable desire for power and fame. A man raised to be a dictator who rules with sadistic cruelty. A man who let his people suffer in one of the world’s worst famines while he lives the high life with imported women, booze and the world’s finest foods. It’s North Korea’s Kim Jong-il. Stories from defectors include the rumour that he drowned his younger brother as a child, that he bugged his own father to see if he was considering someone else to take over from him, and that he had rivals shot if he thought they might stand in his way - all fell by the wayside in Kim‘s ruthless quest for power. -- Welcome to the official Get.factual youtube channel! 🌍 We are a documentary streaming channel covering history, science, technology, and nature. AIPAC and its affiliated groups spent as much as $46 million to help Stevens in what has become the most expensive Democratic Senate primary contest in U.S. history. El-Sayed will face former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers in November to fill the seat now held by Democratic Senator Gary Peters, who is retiring. If El-Sayed wins the general election, he would become the first Muslim senator in U.S. history.
