This included a series of tests measuring the reflectivity of the seabed to acoustic waves. It's not clear what this footage documents but it does show SCUBA divers, including one with a still camera, placing an experimental package on the seafloor at (4:57) and using a dye market a (9:17). At (9:45) another dye marker is shown in use. At (12:05) what might be a sonobuoy is shown descending in the ocean. At (12:54) the experimental package is shown again. The Aluminaut was the world's first aluminum submarine, an experimental deep-ocean research vessel built by Reynolds Metals Company in 1964. It was designed to operate at depths of up to 15,000 feet and was known for its unique specifications, including a 51-foot hull and a high strength-to-weight ratio. Aluminaut is best known for helping recover a lost unarmed U.S. hydrogen bomb in 1966 and recovering its smaller fellow deep-submergence vehicle, DSV Alvin in 1969, after Alvin had been lost and sank in the Atlantic Ocean the previous year. After retirement, Aluminaut was donated to the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond, where it is on permanent display. In november is de nieuwe Brittenpasage klaar, inclusief nieuwe roltrappen en liften. Dagelijks zijn op het station reizigers te zien die zich haastig de trappen op en af bewegen om hun metro te halen. Voor velen levert dat hooguit wat extra inspanning op, al wordt het ontbreken van de roltrappen door sommigen wel als onhandig ervaren. "Het gevoel om te lopen op een roltrap die het niet doet, ik word er bijna misselijk van. Het klinkt heel debiel, maar het is echt niet chill", vertelt een reiziger. "Mensen zeggen: Zuid een rijke buurt, maar ze kunnen niet eens een roltrap maken", vertelt een ander.  Voor reizigers die slecht ter been zijn of bijvoorbeeld met zware bagage reizen, kan de situatie een stuk lastiger zijn. Zij zijn aangewezen op de twee liften, die daardoor een belangrijkere rol spelen in de bereikbaarheid van de metroperrons. Brittenpassage Volgens een woordvoerder van het GVB is het buiten gebruik zijn van de roltrap vervelend, vooral voor reizigers die daarvan afhankelijk zijn. Herstel blijkt echter niet meer mogelijk. Dat hangt samen met de grootschalige verbouwing van station Zuid, waarbij de huidige Minervapassage wordt vervangen. Het GVB heeft, mede naar aanleiding van signalen van reizigers via de klantenservice en de Vervoerregio Amsterdam, extra informatie op het station geplaatst om reizigers beter te informeren. Reizigers die afhankelijk zijn van een roltrap kunnen gebruikmaken van de lift naar het metroperron. Met de opening van de nieuwe Brittenpassage op 1 november krijgen reizigers op station Zuid weer de beschikking over roltrappen. The program’s closure, proposed in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 playbook for Trump’s second administration, involves the decommissioning of a vast network of ocean floor sensors that collect data on marine ecosystems, ocean currents and global climate data, protecting the world’s oceans and providing critical information about extreme weather. In their place is the increasingly unregulated expansion of resource extraction driven by the fossil fuel industry, “essentially developing the ocean for offshore oil drilling and mining — basically, as a gas station and a garbage dump.” Helvarg, the author of Forest of the Sea: The Remarkable Life and Imperiled Future of Kelp, also discusses “the world’s other forest crisis”: the loss of over half of kelp forests to warming ocean temperatures, throwing coastal ecosystems deeply out of balance. “We have an ocean,” adds Helvarg. “It’s full of life. It’s at risk. Dolan employs facial recognition technology to track and profile arena attendees. This reportedly included a trans woman who, according to a former security staffer, was targeted solely due to her gender identity, as well as lawyers who have been banned because their firms are involved in lawsuits against him. Dolan’s “spy machine” feeds information to Madison Square Garden’s sizable security forces, who operate beyond the arena itself, “acting as a kind of second ersatz police force in Midtown Manhattan,” explains Noah Shachtman, one of the authors of the Wired investigation. “It captures everyone, and some people get labeled as threats, even when they’re clearly not.” Dolan’s blacklist also extends to his other venues, including Radio City Music Hall, also in New York City, and Sphere, in Las Vegas. Even for those who never step foot in Madison Square Garden, Shachtman says, the system there “isn’t an outlier.
