De zoon van Tattoo Peter - de eigenaar van de oudste tattooshop van Nederland - kan het nog steeds niet geloven. Tijdens een inbraak in de nacht van dinsdag op woensdag in zijn studiootje in De Rijp is de vitrinekast met oude tatoeagemachines van zijn vader gestolen. De machines - sommigen uit begin jaren 60 - waren bestemd voor een museum dat hij ooit dolgraag zou openen. "Ik vind het verschrikkelijk." Een houten vitrinekast met een achtergrond van groen vilt bevat vintage tattoomachines en verschillende metalen onderdelen die op twee planken staan, zichtbaar door de glazen deur. Toen Wertwijn gisterochtend naar zijn studio in De Rijp kwam, was het raam ingeslagen en lag de vloer bezaaid met glas. Het enige wat was meegenomen, was de vitrinekast met oude tattoomachines. Op bewakingsbeelden zag hij hoe twee mensen in bivakmutsen in een auto stappen. Tattoo Peter opende in 1955 in de St. Olofsteeg de eerste tattooshop van Amsterdam en was daarmee de grondlegger van de tattoocultuur in de stad. Verschrikkelijk "Ik vind het verschrikkelijk", vertelt Wertwijn. "Ik kan niet begrijpen dat mensen onrespectvol zijn tegen de oudste tattooshop van Nederland. En voor wat? Om het door te verkopen? Het is van mij. Ik wil het doorgeven aan de volgende generaties. Dat is het allerbelangrijkst." Want dat is de droom van Wertwijn: een museum openen over de geschiedenis van zijn vader. "Dus wil ik graag zeggen tegen degene die het heeft meegenomen: geef het alsjeblieft terug. Van mijn part leg je het in een kluis en stuur je de sleutel naar me toe per post. A very different portrayal of the King of Pop however comes out in the bombshell Netflix documentary - released this week - about his 2005 trial for child molestation. Hundreds of far-right activists gathered in Portugal on Saturday for the annual “Remigration Summit” advocating for the mass deportation of immigrants. “Remigration is basically the policy response to the 'great replacement' conspiracy theory,” says journalist Charles R. Davis. He explains “great replacement” as a theory that there is a “global elite plot, typically by Jews,” to replace white people in Europe and North America with immigrants.

Footage is primarily of PCC trolleys (or President's Conference Car) operating in several different cities. Some of the footage was shot during fan trips; at 3:19 footage shot in Pittsburgh, railfans with cameras can be seen watching the approach of chartered car #1708. From 0:00 to about 5:52, the Pittsburgh Railways are shown. This was a predecessor of Pittsburgh Regional Transit. It had 666 PCC cars, the third largest fleet in North America. It had 68 streetcar routes. The portion at 2:39 may be the Fineview Route on the north side of Pittsburgh. Also visible in scenes are the Smithfield Street bridge, trolley passes P&LE station, then passes through the Mount Washington Tunnel at 3:05. The car at 5:43 is marked with a destination sign for Kennywood, a local amusement park. Starting at 5:53, shots of the Boston Transit Co. operations, including "Picture-Window" PCCs delivered in 1951. These are shown operating in two car trains and in the subway. The famous "Cities Service" sign at Kenmore Square is visible at 7:50. At 14:25, famed D.C. Transit Car 303 (now preserved in the Smithsonian) is shown being operated as a charter for railfans. This was an American Car Company of St. Louis, Missouri trolley originally built for Capital Traction Company of Washington, D.C. The car was assigned to the 7th Street line, which ran from the Wharves to Boundary (now Florida Avenue). This car was used as a motor car and regularly pulled a light trailer car until its retirement from regular service in 1913. At 15:00, Baltimore Transit PCC #7047 is seen operating on the street. This appears to be one of the cars that lacked a left-hand door (and as a result rarely ran in the Subway and only saw service on surface street-running lines without center platforms of configurations that would require a left-hand door). At 15:47, the Sparrows Point Trestle. (Sparrows Point was once a location to a thriving Bethlehem Steel Works, now the home to warehouses.) Car #7068 is seen at 16:31 and car #7066 at 17:17. At 18:32, Baltimore Transit PCC Car #7004 is seen. Baltimore City Hall is seen at 20:37. At 21:22, Engine House No. 6, a Baltimore landmark, is shown. Rural communities in Bolivia demanding the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz seized an oil field in the Santa Cruz region Wednesday, shutting down production. Protesters closed the well valves and erected barriers to slow the advance of the police, with a local leader stating the takeover was nonviolent and decided collectively by Indigenous community members. Police later moved in with riot gear, arresting four people. The oil field action is the latest escalation in a weekslong general strike opposing Paz’s sweeping neoliberal agenda. The unrest began in early May over fuel shortages, rising living costs and austerity measures. Since then, it has left at least five people dead and caused billions of dollars in economic losses. President Paz is proposing a controversial state of exception bill to Bolivia’s Congress to authorize the military to dismantle roadblocks as nationwide protests enter their fifth week.

Bewoners woontoren Noord voelen zich niet veilig in lift: "Hij valt naar beneden" De twee liften van een appartementencomplex aan de Bercylaan in Noord hebben volgens bewoners meerdere keren een 'vrije val' gemaakt. Ze vrezen voor ongelukken met gewonden en vinden dat de verhuurder voor een structurele oplossing moet zorgen.  De liften zijn ook regelmatig kapot. Deze week doet de rechterlift het bijvoorbeeld niet. De bewoners die met de linkerlift gaan, houden er rekening mee dat die kan vallen. "Met de snelheid van de zwaartekracht valt hij naar beneden", legt een bewoner uit. "En dan 'boem' stopt hij ineens, dan krijg je best wel een harde klap, ook voor je benen en rug." Het wooncomplex werd in 2017 opgeleverd. Volgens een andere bewoner is het inmiddels al zeker tien keer gebeurd dat een van de liften, het gebeurde met beide, een paar verdiepingen omlaag viel. "Bijna iedere bewoner heeft ervaren dat de lift naar beneden viel. Het doet pijn aan je rug, zorgt ervoor dat je moeder niet meer durft te komen. Het is angstaanjagend en ik snap niet hoe het acceptabel is."
