Schelden, aanranding en intimidatie. Hardlopende vrouwen in de stad worden regelmatig lastiggevallen. Volgens cijfers van de politie zijn dit soort incidenten alleen rondom de Sloterplas in maart, april en mei al tientallen keren voorgekomen. Om aandacht te vragen voor de veiligheid van vrouwen trokken meerdere vrouwelijke raadsleden eind van de dag de hardloopschoenen aan voor een rondje Sloterplas. Het idee om met een groepje vrouwelijke raadsleden te gaan rennen komt van VVD-raadslid Dorle Kok. "De afgelopen maanden zijn er tientallen meldingen van vrouwen binnengekomen, die zijn lastiggevallen bij de Sloterplas." En daarom lopen de raadsleden van zo'n beetje alle partijen om aandacht te vragen voor de onveiligheid in vooral de Amsterdamse parken. D66-raadslid Nora Ait Boubker: "de openbare ruimte is net zo goed van ons als van de mannen, en dat willen nu echt uitstralen." Rond de Sloterplas - maar ook in andere Amsterdamse parken - worden hardlopende vrouwen regelmatig vrouwen uitgescholden of op de billen geslagen. De politie zegt dat het vooral jongens op fatbikes zijn die problemen veroorzaken. Een claim die wordt bevestigd door Kate Tellier, oprichter van de stichting Run Her Way. Zij heeft in meerdere steden onderzocht wat vrouwen allemaal meemaken tijdens het hardlopen. Volgens Tellier is het een globaal probleem, maar: "Wat Amsterdam uniek maakt, is het fenomeen fatbikes. Er zijn veel verhalen van vrouwen die zeggen lastiggevallen te zijn door jongeren op fatbikes." Tellier concludeert in haar onderzoek dat 65 procent van de hardlopende vrouwen wel eens een onveilige situatie heeft meegemaakt. "Verbale agressie komt het meest voor. Maar ook ongewenst fysiek contact. Er zijn verhalen dat vrouwen die soms wel een kilometer lang worden achtervolgd door automobilisten, fietsers of wandelaars." Afgelegen paden en tunnels Vooral de Amsterdamse parken zijn een probleem. Volgens Tellier door slechte of ontbrekende verlichting, afgelegen paden en groepjes mannen die er rondhangen. Vooral tunnels, waterkanten en randen van parken worden als onveilig ervaren. "Vrouwen vinden dat er te weinig maatregelen worden genomen om de veiligheid te verbeteren." Lokagenten Inmiddels is er fatbikeverbod in het Vondelpark, en de politie is deze maand een grote actie gestart tegen intimidatie rondom de Sloterplas. Zo worden er extra agenten en zelfs drones ingezet. Maar volgens raadslid Naomi Italiaander van JA21 moet er meer gebeuren. "Er zijn al extra maatregelen genomen, maar kennelijk is het niet voldoende. Je ziet dat het nog steeds aanhoudt. Wij vinden eigenlijk dat er meer lokagenten moeten zijn om ook mensen op heterdaad te kunnen betrappen." Voor iedereen die na de dood wat dichter bij Rembrandt wil komen: voor tienduizend euro kun je voor tien jaar een plekje in de crypte van de Westerkerk reserveren voor je urn. De kerk hoopt hiermee genoeg geld binnen te halen voor een nodige restauratie van de vloer. Een stenen plaat gegraveerd met een wapenschild en de naam Lucas Bols distillateur, die waarschijnlijk een graf of gedenkteken markeert. Het oppervlak vertoont enige slijtage. Linksonder staat een logo met een rode cirkel en de letter A. "Het halve Rijksmuseum ligt hier", grapt secretaris van de Vrienden van de Westerkerk John Faasse. "Bijna elke steen in de Westerkerk is een grafsteen." En als alles volgens plan verloopt kan straks elke Amsterdammer daarbij. Je moet wel tienduizend euro en een eigen urn meenemen. De Westerkerk wil graag beginnen met de restauratie van de vloer. Net als veel andere kerken, heeft de Westerkerk last van een krimpende veengrond. De vloer moet dus vervangen worden, dus is dit volgens Faasse een mooi moment voor de bouw van de crypte. De eerste honderdvijftig urnplekken zullen met tienduizend euro niet goedkoop zijn, want de restauratie van de vloer is dat ook niet. Naar verwachting kost dat zo'n vier miljoen euro. "Als we die eerste honderdvijftig plekken eenmaal hebben verdeeld, hopen we ook goedkopere plekken aan te bieden, zodat iedere Amsterdammer die dat wil hier z'n laatste rustplaats kan hebben. Want een mooiere plek kan ik me bijna niet voorstellen", aldus Faasse.
