The Trump administration has indicted Raúl Castro, the former president of Cuba and brother of the late Fidel, on charges stemming from the 1996 shootdown of four pilots with Brothers to the Rescue, an anti-Castro organization formed by Cuban exiles with ties to the CIA. Peter Kornbluh, a Cuba specialist at the National Security Archive, says that the indictment could provide justification for a possible future attempt to capture or assassinate the 94-year-old Castro, and warns that the U.S. may soon conduct an operation in Cuba similar to its seizure of Nicholás Maduro in Venezuela earlier this year.

The U.S. has resettled just over 6,000 refugees between October and April — all except three were from South Africa. President Trump has said Afrikaners face racial persecution and genocide in South Africa, claims that have been rejected by the U.N. Human Rights Office, among others. Last year, he cut off aid to the country. "Whiteness is being recast as endangered," says Lebohang Pheko, a professor of practice at the University of Johannesburg. "There is a move towards the alt-right, the MAGA discourse, which is about replacement theory." Pheko also suggests that Trump's actions toward South Africa are retribution for the genocide case it brought against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Rebuilding A Rustproof Land Rover - Part #25. Taking the excellent advice given by the man at Bygone-Diesel-Pumps, I wanted to increase the working pressure of the Injectors to 2500 psi. This involved removing the injectors that I reconditioned in an earlier episode. I machined a small Brass plug for a piece of Silicone Rubber Tubing to hold some pressure in the Fuel Filter and prevent it draining. I removed the injectors and set them to 2500 psi working pressure using my Injector Test Pump. Een man in een rolstoel is vanmiddag overleden na een aanrijding door een trein bij station Bijlmer Arena. De politie gaat ervan uit dat er sprake is van een ongeluk, zegt een woordvoerder. Door het ongeval reden er tijdelijk geen treinen tussen CS en Utrecht Centraal. De ingang van treinstation Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena met twee gemarkeerde Nederlandse politievoertuigen buiten geparkeerd en verschillende politieagenten die bij het station staan en lopen. De eerste melding over de aanrijding kwam rond 14.55 uur binnen, waarna hulpdiensten met veel materieel ter plaatse kwamen. Hulp mocht niet meer baten; de man overleed ter plekke. Ever since the Big Bang, the universe has been expanding outward in every direction. Galaxies aren’t just moving through space - space itself is stretching between them. That creates a strange loophole in physics: while it’s true that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light through space, space itself can expand at any speed it likes. As colleges hold graduation ceremonies across the country, many schools are attempting to silence pro-Palestine speech at the commemorations, including canceling speakers and eliminating live speeches by students altogether. This is the first ever footage of a giant squid in its natural habitat. It took decades to get this footage. And some creative engineering. De kerk hoopt hiermee genoeg geld binnen te halen voor een nodige restauratie van de vloer. Een stenen plaat gegraveerd met een wapenschild en de naam Lucas Bols distillateur, die waarschijnlijk een graf of gedenkteken markeert. Het oppervlak vertoont enige slijtage. Linksonder staat een logo met een rode cirkel en de letter A. "Het halve Rijksmuseum ligt hier", grapt secretaris van de Vrienden van de Westerkerk John Faasse. "Bijna elke steen in de Westerkerk is een grafsteen." En als alles volgens plan verloopt kan straks elke Amsterdammer daarbij. Je moet wel tienduizend euro en een eigen urn meenemen. De Westerkerk wil graag beginnen met de restauratie van de vloer. Net als veel andere kerken, heeft de Westerkerk last van een krimpende veengrond. De vloer moet dus vervangen worden, dus is dit volgens Faasse een mooi moment voor de bouw van de crypte. De eerste honderdvijftig urnplekken zullen met tienduizend euro niet goedkoop zijn, want de restauratie van de vloer is dat ook niet. Naar verwachting kost dat zo'n vier miljoen euro. "Als we die eerste honderdvijftig plekken eenmaal hebben verdeeld, hopen we ook goedkopere plekken aan te bieden, zodat iedere Amsterdammer die dat wil hier z'n laatste rustplaats kan hebben. Want een mooiere plek kan ik me bijna niet voorstellen", aldus Faasse.
