Waarin je constant rekening houdt met hun mogelijke dreigingen en de vraag: wie bestuurt dat ding? Voor Mikko Hyppönen is het geen uitzondering meer, maar routine. De bekende Finse cybersecurity-expert, die de overstap maakte van cybersecurity naar de drone-sector, leeft in een nieuwe realiteit die voor de rest van ons nog futuristisch voelt. Dat Hyppönen werkt aan fysieke drone-afweer ligt niet per se in de lijn der verwachtingen. Hij was een man van het cyberdomein: software en malware die draait op computernetwerken ver weg. Maar hij zag dat domein veranderen: cyberoorlog bleef steeds minder beperkt tot schermen en servers. De digitale wereld begon de fysieke werkelijkheid binnen te dringen. Ooit waren hackers hobbyisten, daarna criminelen. Maar vanaf begin deze eeuw begonnen staten zich actief met cyberaanvallen bezig te houden. Met als waterscheiding Stuxnet, de aanval op het Iraanse kernprogramma in 2010, waarbij een venijnig stukje software uiteindelijk echte uraniumcentrifuges vernietigde, met mogelijk dodelijke consequenties voor wie daar op dat moment in de buurt stond. Voor Hyppönen was dat de dag dat de informatica zijn onschuld verloor, een beetje zoals de natuurkunde dat deed met de eerste atoombom. Drones zijn in deze steeds fysiekere cyberoorlog simpelweg de nieuwste toevoeging aan het “hybride” arsenaal van staten. Het zijn laagdrempelig inzetbare, redelijk onzichtbare horzels die dingen kunnen verstoren en ontwrichten. Hyppönen werkt daarom aan technologie die drones kan detecteren, verstoren en uiteindelijk uitschakelen. Zijn nieuwste project is militair: een mobiele fabriek in een container, die je overal ter wereld kunt neerzetten en die ter plekke anti-drone-drones kan 3D-printen. De grote vraag: hoeveel hiervan gaan we hier terugzien, waar geen oorlog woedt? Voor de viering van het tienjarige bestaan van de A'dam Toren kon je vanmorgen vroeg gratis naar boven om te genieten van een van de mooiste uitzichten van de stad. Daarnaast was er ook een feestje georganiseerd. Terwijl de meeste Amsterdammers nog lekker liggen te slapen, staan de eerste bezoekers al om 5 uur op het dak van de A'dam Toren om te dansen en te genieten van het uitzicht. Naast toegang tot het observatiedek is er een silent disco en kunnen mensen de schommel op het dak proberen: "Normaal sta je op dit tijdstip nog te dansen als je de hele nacht bent uitgegaan, dus dit is wel een nieuwe ervaring", vertelt een bezoeker. Mede-eigenaar Sander Groet is trots op het megaproject dat hij aanging met ondernemers Duncan Stutterheim en Hans Brouwer: "Ik zie altijd wel verbeterpunten, dat zit een beetje in mij. Dus het moment pakken en erbij stilstaan, dat is soms wel lastig. Maar na tien jaar kan ik wel zeggen dat het echt is gelukt". Een persoon met een donker jack en wit shirt zit binnen bij een groot raam met uitzicht op de stad en de rivier op de achtergrond; een A-logo is zichtbaar in de linkerbenedenhoek van de afbeelding. Het gebouw zelf bestaat natuurlijk al een tijdje langer dan 10 jaar. De toren werd in 1966 gebouwd voor Shell en was destijds één van de hoogste gebouwen in de stad. Alhoewel de officiële naam 'Overhoeks' was, vanwege de ligging in een hoek van 45 graden, werd het in de volksmond de Shell-toren genoemd. Na het vertrek van Shell in 2009 bleef het gebouw een aantal jaren leeg. Pas in 2014 werd aangekondigd dat het gebouw zou worden getransformeerd naar een multifunctioneel gebouw. Tien jaar geleden, in 2016, werd de toren heropent als de A'dam Toren: Amsterdam Dance and Music. Inmiddels trekt de toren jaarlijks zo'n 800.000 bezoekers. D66 en CDA zetten de discussie over de hypotheekrenteaftrek op scherp. Zij stemden voor een motie om een verruiming van de hypotheekrenteaftrek terug te draaien. De motie kreeg daardoor een meerderheid, tot chagrijn van coalitiegenoot VVD. D66 en CDA willen de aftrek afschaffen, maar de VVD wil dat absoluut niet. Tijdens de formatie spraken de drie partijen uiteindelijk af om de aftrek met rust te laten. Maar onbedoeld ging de aftrek toch iets omhoog. Het kabinet verhoogt het percentage voor de inkomstenbelasting in de tweede schijf, waardoor die voor de hypotheekrenteaftrek automatisch meestijgt. Ondanks de meerderheid in de Tweede Kamer blijft de VVD erbij dat de hypotheekrente niet kan worden aangepast. #hypotheekrenteaftrek #vvd #cda #d66 #politiek
