De man wordt op dit moment vervolgd voor zes feiten, waaronder een poging tot verkrachting van een 2-jarig meisje op een locatie van kinderopvang Partou in Amsterdam. Een woordvoerder van het OM wil niet inhoudelijk reageren op de nieuwe verdenkingen, het is nog onduidelijk of B. voor deze nieuwe verdenkingen vervolgd gaat worden. Het onderzoek naar B. is nog in volle gang, de politie gaat ervan uit eind juni het einddossier af te hebben. " Het geeft het Openbaar Ministerie de gelegenheid te kijken waar we nu staan te beslissen welke verdenkingen er nog meer op de tenlastelegging moeten. Er staan nu zes verdenkingen op, maar er komen er nog een aantal bij. Het is nog onder voorbehoud, je weet niet wat er verder bijkomt qua meldingen." Pieter Baan Centrum De man gaat zodra het politieonderzoek is afgerond naar het Pieter Baan Centrum. De verdachte heeft gesproken met een psycholoog en een psychiater, die adviseren hem daar te laten onderzoeken. Volgens het OM zijn er indicaties dat B. een vorm van dementie heeft. De officier van justitie zei vandaag dat B. heel meewerkend is: "Hij wil zelf ook weten wat er met hem aan de hand is, heeft hij gezegd." De rechtbank heeft het Openbaar Ministerie verzocht een Engels strafblad van B. toe te voegen aan het dossier. Wat er op dat strafblad staat is nog onbekend. We zijn er allemaal weleens voorbij gefietst: het blauwe mini-huisje van kunstenaar Leonard van Munster, dat op het braakliggende terrein naast Paradiso staat. Maar na vijf jaar komt er een einde aan dat uitzicht: het huisje verkeert in slechte staat en voor renovatie is geen geld, dus zet Van Munster – met een beetje pijn in het hart – vandaag het tekoopbord in de grond: "Ik wil niet sentimenteel doen, maar ik ben er wel aan gehecht geraakt." "Ja, hij hangt recht." Kunstenaar Leonard van Munster klikt een rood-wit tekoopbordje aan het huisje dat de gemiddelde makelaar als 'compact wonen in een intieme setting' zou omschrijven. Vijf jaar geleden plaatste Van Munster het op het graslandje naast Paradiso, uit protest tegen de zich almaar uitbreidende stad. Het stukje terrein is inmiddels al 180 jaar onbebouwd. "Het huisje ziet eruit alsof de stad eromheen zich is blijven ontwikkelen, maar de bewoner heeft geweigerd te vertrekken", vertelt Van Munster, met een ladder ("Die verstop ik in de bosjes als ik er niet ben") onder zijn arm. "'s Avonds brandt er een lichtje door de ramen, er wappert een witte vlag en in de winter staat er een kerstboompje." Van Munster liet zich inspireren door het Chinese fenomeen 'nail houses': woningen waarvan bewoners weigeren te wijken voor de plannen van een projectontwikkelaar of de autoriteiten, waardoor infrastructuur er noodgedwongen omheen wordt gebouwd: "Dat zie je in Amsterdam natuurlijk ook steeds meer." Maar vandaag gaat het bord dus toch in de tuin. "Ik heb het huisje te koop aangeboden, niet omdat ik het kwijt wil, maar omdat ik de vraag wil stellen: wat is kunst in de publieke ruimte waard en wie neemt daar verantwoordelijkheid voor", vertelt Van Munster. Ook in deze laatste week trekt het huisje veel bekijks. Toeristen stoppen om foto's te maken, een man loopt bellend langs: 'A very tiny house. It's blue.' Van Munster: "Het huisje heeft veel fans. Die hebben nog maar een weekje om afscheid te nemen, want daarna gaat de sloophamer erin, mocht ik er geen andere plek of bestemming voor vinden."  Wie het 06-nummer op het verkoopbord belt, krijgt een 'makelaar' aan de lijn. Van Munster: "Ik heb al even gebeld en dan krijg je zijn antwoordapparaat, waar je iets op kunt inspreken. Het stukje grond is inmiddels in bezit van Paradiso, dat grootste verbouwplannen à 93 miljoen euro heeft voor het terrein. Als dat plan doorgaat, wil het poppodium over vier jaar beginnen met bouwen. Nog genoeg tijd voor een nieuw kunstwerk dus? Van Munster: "Dat ga ik niet verklappen, dat blijft nog even spannend, maar er kan zomaar ineens... een nieuw idee neerdalen." Van Munster is bekend van zijn kunstwerken in de openbare ruimte, zoals de Fata Morgana. Van dat kunstwerk is inmiddels niets meer over, nadat het eerst door vandalen werd vernield en daarna per ongeluk door de gemeente werd gesloopt. De Louis Couperusbuurt in Nieuw-West wordt over anderhalf jaar gesloopt en gerenoveerd. Voor die tijd moeten alle bewoners weg zijn. Zij krijgen wel de kans om terug te keren naar een gerenoveerde woning, maar daar heeft lang niet iedereen zin in. Eigenlijk wilde Andries van Vonno hier niet naartoe komen, maar na enig aandringen staat hij toch met zijn handen tegen het raam van een woning waar met grote roze letters 'Modelwoning' op staat. Hij schudt zijn hoofd als hij naar binnen kijkt. "Je ziet al meteen dat je je spullen niet kwijt kan." Stadgenoot heeft deze woning, aan de oostkant van de Louis Couperuswijk, ingericht zoals straks alle woningen eruit komen te zien na het grootschalige renovatieproject. Bewoners kunnen dan terugkeren, maar Andries, die hier al meer dan twintig jaar met zijn vrouw woont, piekert daar niet over. Slopend proces Dat komt niet alleen omdat Stadgenoot zijn huis wil verbouwen. Al valt het hem zwaar dat de investeringen in zijn huurwoning, zoals een muurtje in de keuken en kastenruimte, ook gesloopt worden. Nee, het is meer het hele proces. Als voorzitter van de bewonerscommissie heeft hij er sinds 2008 alles aan gedaan om het megaproject van Stadgenoot tegen te houden. Eindeloos vergaderd, posters verspreid door de wijk en langs alle deuren om buren te overtuigen deze bijzondere wijk te beschermen. Maar Stadgenoot zet door. Volgens de woningcorporatie, die zelf ook de buurt in is gegaan, is 82% van de buurt wel voor de renovatieplannen. Die plannen liegen er niet om. Nu telt de wijk 700 sociale huurwoningen, aan het einde van het project moeten er circa 1.200 huizen staan. Het aantal sociale huurwoningen blijft gelijk en het project moet over tien jaar klaar zijn. Dat gaat in verschillende fases. Bewoners uit 'fase 1' krijgen nu anderhalf jaar de tijd om te verhuizen. Als zij een vast huurcontract hebben, kunnen zij kiezen voor een tussenwoning om over een tijd terug te keren naar een gerenoveerd huis in de Couperuswijk. Bewoners die dat niet willen, krijgen een urgentieverklaring voor een nieuwe woning. Groene wijk De Louis Couperuswijk, een oude arbeidswijk die nog gebouwd is in de geest van Van Eesteren, valt vooral op door het groen. Voor Selda Aydogan, die al 27 jaar in de buurt woont, is dat een van de redenen om na een periode in een tussenwoning misschien wel terug te keren. "Ik heb een goedkope huur, de buurt is mooi groen en het is een unieke plek", zegt Aydogan. "Het enige is dat je niet terugkeert naar je eigen woning, maar naar eenzelfde soort woning. En het is dan opgeknapt, dus een fijnere woonsituatie." Aydogan is één van de bewoners die wel instemde met de renovatie. Ze is niet alleen tevreden dat haar woning een opknapbeurt krijgt, maar ook dat er na jaren van onzekerheid eindelijk een besluit is genomen. "Heel veel mensen voelen opluchting nu we inzicht hebben in de toekomst." Schimmel in huis Voor Andries is het absoluut geen opluchting dat hij zijn huis uit moet. De stress van afgelopen jaren zit hem hoog, vertelt hij op de bank in zijn woonkamer. "Ik wilde hier mijn leven eindigen", zegt hij. "Dit is verschrikkelijk." Natuurlijk, hij ziet de schimmel in hun slaapkamer ook wel. Maar dat komt volgens de voorzitter van de bewonerscommissie vooral omdat Stadgenoot sinds de renovatieplannen niks meer aan de woningen gedaan heeft. "Dan versloft het vanzelf." Slopen voor een flat Een groot deel van de woningen zal gesloopt worden, dus die bewoners kunnen sowieso niet terugkeren naar hun wijk. Een van hen is Ronald, die vanuit zijn ouderlijk huis naar deze plek is verhuisd en nooit meer is weggegaan. Op de plek van zijn arbeidershuis komt een flat. "Ik ben erg honkvast en ik vind het een ramp dat ik mijn huis uit moet, want mijn hele kennissenkring zit hier, mijn huisarts, alles zit hier", zegt hij. "Hoe moet ik dat ergens anders weer opbouwen?" Zijn woning staat in fase 2, dus hij verwacht dat hij nog zo'n vier jaar heeft om een alternatieve woning te vinden. "Mijn partner is invalide en ik moet er niet aan denken dat we in een flat moeten wonen. We zouden kunnen verhuizen naar een benedenwoning in fase 1, maar dat is kleiner en hogere huur." Een woordvoerder van Stadgenoot geeft aan dat niet alle specifieke wensen van bewoners overgenomen konden worden, maar zeggen ze ook tegemoetkomingen te hebben gedaan. Volgens de woordvoerder is 82% van de buurtbewoners akkoord gegaan met de plannen. De eerste bewoners hebben hun huurovereenkomst opgezegd en verhuisd. Republican lawmakers across the South are responding to the ruling by racing to redraw their congressional maps, which is expected to lead to a historic drop in the number of Black representatives in Congress. "The Supreme Court's devastating decision in the Louisiana v. Callais case has really turned our country upside down," says Clarke, who previously served as assistant attorney general for civil rights at the Justice Department in the Biden administration. She says that given the history of racial discrimination in the United States, particularly in the Deep South, "it is unsurprising" to see lawmakers "race at lightning speed to eradicate the gains that have been made over the decades." Clarke also discusses President Trump's efforts to take federal control of elections in at least eight states, which Clarke says is part of his administration's goal to "lock out certain voters" and commit "mass disenfranchisement." De Louis Couperusbuurt in Nieuw-West wordt over anderhalf jaar gesloopt en gerenoveerd. Voor die tijd moeten alle bewoners weg zijn. Zij krijgen wel de kans om terug te keren naar een gerenoveerde woning, maar daar heeft lang niet iedereen zin in. Eigenlijk wilde Andries van Vonno hier niet naartoe komen, maar na enig aandringen staat hij toch met zijn handen tegen het raam van een woning waar met grote roze letters 'Modelwoning' op staat. Hij schudt zijn hoofd als hij naar binnen kijkt. "Je ziet al meteen dat je je spullen niet kwijt kan." Stadgenoot heeft deze woning, aan de oostkant van de Louis Couperuswijk, ingericht zoals straks alle woningen eruit komen te zien na het grootschalige renovatieproject. Bewoners kunnen dan terugkeren, maar Andries, die hier al meer dan twintig jaar met zijn vrouw woont, piekert daar niet over. Slopend proces Dat komt niet alleen omdat Stadgenoot zijn huis wil verbouwen. Al valt het hem zwaar dat de investeringen in zijn huurwoning, zoals een muurtje in de keuken en kastenruimte, ook gesloopt worden. Nee, het is meer het hele proces. Als voorzitter van de bewonerscommissie heeft hij er sinds 2008 alles aan gedaan om het megaproject van Stadgenoot tegen te houden. Eindeloos vergaderd, posters verspreid door de wijk en langs alle deuren om buren te overtuigen deze bijzondere wijk te beschermen. Maar Stadgenoot zet door. Volgens de woningcorporatie, die zelf ook de buurt in is gegaan, is 82% van de buurt wel voor de renovatieplannen. Die plannen liegen er niet om. Nu telt de wijk 700 sociale huurwoningen, aan het einde van het project moeten er circa 1.200 huizen staan. Het aantal sociale huurwoningen blijft gelijk en het project moet over tien jaar klaar zijn. Dat gaat in verschillende fases. Bewoners uit 'fase 1' krijgen nu anderhalf jaar de tijd om te verhuizen. Als zij een vast huurcontract hebben, kunnen zij kiezen voor een tussenwoning om over een tijd terug te keren naar een gerenoveerd huis in de Couperuswijk. Bewoners die dat niet willen, krijgen een urgentieverklaring voor een nieuwe woning. Groene wijk De Louis Couperuswijk, een oude arbeidswijk die nog gebouwd is in de geest van Van Eesteren, valt vooral op door het groen. Voor Selda Aydogan, die al 27 jaar in de buurt woont, is dat een van de redenen om na een periode in een tussenwoning misschien wel terug te keren. "Ik heb een goedkope huur, de buurt is mooi groen en het is een unieke plek", zegt Aydogan. "Het enige is dat je niet terugkeert naar je eigen woning, maar naar eenzelfde soort woning. En het is dan opgeknapt, dus een fijnere woonsituatie." Aydogan is één van de bewoners die wel instemde met de renovatie. Ze is niet alleen tevreden dat haar woning een opknapbeurt krijgt, maar ook dat er na jaren van onzekerheid eindelijk een besluit is genomen. "Heel veel mensen voelen opluchting nu we inzicht hebben in de toekomst." Schimmel in huis Voor Andries is het absoluut geen opluchting dat hij zijn huis uit moet. De stress van afgelopen jaren zit hem hoog, vertelt hij op de bank in zijn woonkamer. "Ik wilde hier mijn leven eindigen", zegt hij. "Dit is verschrikkelijk." Natuurlijk, hij ziet de schimmel in hun slaapkamer ook wel. Maar dat komt volgens de voorzitter van de bewonerscommissie vooral omdat Stadgenoot sinds de renovatieplannen niks meer aan de woningen gedaan heeft. "Dan versloft het vanzelf." Een groot deel van de woningen zal gesloopt worden, dus die bewoners kunnen sowieso niet terugkeren naar hun wijk. Een van hen is Ronald, die vanuit zijn ouderlijk huis naar deze plek is verhuisd en nooit meer is weggegaan. Op de plek van zijn arbeidershuis komt een flat. "Ik ben erg honkvast en ik vind het een ramp dat ik mijn huis uit moet, want mijn hele kennissenkring zit hier, mijn huisarts, alles zit hier", zegt hij. "Hoe moet ik dat ergens anders weer opbouwen?" Zijn woning staat in fase 2, dus hij verwacht dat hij nog zo'n vier jaar heeft om een alternatieve woning te vinden. "Mijn partner is invalide en ik moet er niet aan denken dat we in een flat moeten wonen. We zouden kunnen verhuizen naar een benedenwoning in fase 1, maar dat is kleiner en hogere huur." Een woordvoerder van Stadgenoot geeft aan dat niet alle specifieke wensen van bewoners overgenomen konden worden, maar zeggen ze ook tegemoetkomingen te hebben gedaan. Volgens de woordvoerder is 82% van de buurtbewoners akkoord gegaan met de plannen. De eerste bewoners hebben hun huurovereenkomst opgezegd en verhuisd.
