Er is een groot explosief aangetroffen op de Lange Muiderweg in Weesp vanmiddag. Volgens de brandweer gaat het om een vliegtuigbom uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Het gebied rondom de straat werd afgezet. Het explosief werd bij graafwerkzaamheden dicht bij het spoor gevonden. De hulpdiensten zijn met veel materieel opgeroepen, alsook de Explosieven Opruimingsdienst Defensie (EOD). Het treinverkeer van en naar station Weesp werd tijdelijk stilgelegd. Drie politieagenten staan te praten voor een witte politieauto die een smalle weg blokkeert bij een brug, met bomen en groen aan weerszijden. Rechts is een blauw verkeersbord met een rode pijl zichtbaar. Om 15.47 uur schaalden de hulpdiensten op naar Grip 1, waarbij de hulpdiensten gecoördineerd samenwerken in crisissituaties. Zij waren aanwezig op de Lange Muiderweg, een straat in Weesp langs de Vecht en het treinspoor. Over het exacte gevaar kon de woordvoerder van de politie niks zeggen, maar een straal van 250 meter werd afgezet. Om 17.00 uur kon er worden afgeschaald en konden omwondenen hun woning weer in. De brandweer laat weten dat de bom stabiel is. De EOD is bezig met het uitgraven van het explosief. Het gaat om een 500-pounder die in de Tweede Wereldoorlog vanuit vliegtuigen werd gedropt. Hoe de bom terecht is gekomen in Weesp kon de brandweer niet zeggen. De bom is in de buurt van station Weesp gevonden. Dat is een belangrijk knooppunt voor treinen, laat een woordvoerder van de NS weten. Treinen richting onder andere Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport en Amsterdam reden sinds 15.47 uur niet meer. Volgens Mara, een van de bedenkers, is de gedachte erachter eenvoudig: "Samen eten is een laagdrempelige manier om mensen te ontmoeten en brengt mensen bij elkaar."
