Café 't Sluisje aan de Nieuwendammerdijk in Noord moet de twee geliefde buurttafels voor de kroeg weghalen. De gemeente nam de vergunning van de kroeg onder de loep na een klacht. Volgens de uitbater komt de klacht bij een weggestuurde bezoeker vandaan. "Hier stond een hele lange picknicktafel en daar staat nu niks meer en daar mag ook niks meer staan", vertelt uitbater Maaike van Zomeren, nog altijd vol ongeloof. "Dit zijn gewoon de twee leukste tafels en de gezelligste tafels. En dat is gewoon zonde." De tafels staan er volgens haar al 30 jaar, maar na een klacht nam de gemeente de vergunning onder de loep. Die concludeerde dat de twee stamtafels, pal voor de deur, buiten het vergunde terras vallen. Het café zegt zeker te weten dat de klacht bij een bezoeker vandaan komt, die vorig jaar werd weggestuurd toen ze met een eigen thermoskan op het terras zat. AT5 heeft voor die aantijging geen bewijs gezien. De bezoeker zou een Woo-verzoek (Wet open overheid) hebben ingediend bij de gemeente om uit te zoeken of het terras geen openbare ruimte was. Uit het onderzoek dat volgde, bleek uiteindelijk dat het terras niet goed was ingetekend. Uit een nieuwe, herziene intekening blijkt dat de twee stamtafels er niet mogen staan. Een petitie om de buurttafels terug te krijgen is inmiddels al bijna 2000 keer ondertekend. Ook de buurtbewoners, die gezamenlijk de kroeg kocht om die van de ondergang te redden, laten het er niet bij zitten. "Het zijn de bankjes die het meest populair zijn bij de stamgasten. Het langst in de zon, het mooiste uitzicht", vertelt Jeroen Kleijne, voorzitter van de coöperatie achter de kroeg. "Dit is Amsterdam op zijn smalst", vult bestuurslid Maarten Middelburg aan. De gemeente laat in een reactie weten achter de schermen na te denken over oplossingen. "In de tussentijd heeft ’t Sluisje nog steeds een terras van meer dan 250 vierkante meter waar mensen kunnen zitten." "Various governments in India and the central government have been trying to dilute labor laws," says Neha Dixit, an investigative journalist and author based in New Delhi. Afgelopen zaterdag kon Lionel Gorissen de slaap niet vatten, dus besloot hij bij de Oranjerie een slaapmutsje te drinken. Daar zaten Amerikaanse toeristen aan de bar die hem vroegen naar een typische Amsterdams drankje. Zal je net zien, dus vijf kopstootjes verder wankelde Gorissen naar huis. Daar is hij vlak voor de deur in slaap gevallen, waar zijn buren hem vonden en naar bed brachten. De volgende dag werd hij wakker zonder telefoon én zonder zijn onderbeen. Even dacht dat hij dat het een grap was van zijn vriendin, maar toen het besef indaalde, kwam ook de schrik. Want zijn onderbeenprothese is van 'levensbelang'. Zijn oude prothese kan hij wel gebruiken, maar past hem niet goed. "Het doet pijn en je krijgt er wondjes van." En dan, als het interview erop staat en de verslaggever weer terug is op de redactie, opeens een telefoontje. Zijn been is alsnog gevonden, zo'n 300 meter van zijn huis, bij café Tabac. De barman vond de prothese tijdens het sluiten van de bar. Gorissen is ongelofelijk opgelucht. "Extase voel ik. Echt een last van mijn schouders. Nu kan ik weer verder." Ondanks dat de prothese is gevonden, is Lionel toch een inzamelingsactie gestart. The film includes various domestic scenes including a birthday party and a tour of the family's flower garden, as well as a trip aboard a Princess cruise liner. The close of the film is a slow drive through the town of Paradise / Tahoe City, evergreens run the road spotted by local shops and the post office. The film opens with shots of what appears to be a birthday party or similar event -- possibly an Easter celebration. Children wear nice clothes, with girls in pastel dresses and their curls pinned under pink barrettes (:07). Pavement clicks heels, the air and smacks what appears to be a small rubber ball. A kicked over table sits next to the driveway near a lawn chair for sun soaking (:16). The ball parade runs in and off the driveway and the sun sets dim and lowered now (:23). The boy’s dress is considerably drab in comparison; short sleeves and sleek dress shoes of dark tones snapping grass twigs (:33). It captures the anticipation of a simple game; a female player in a light white sleeve sundress hides the ball behind her back on the attack (:35). Two boys stand, one with hands on his head and the other, hands on his waist (1:03) light blues and dark shades contrasting one other’s stance though it is the same face, frustration at the tirade parade of girl ball players. A bunny hop follows in the back corner; clamor over for a lose ball (1:17). In another sequence, the mother (1:23) and father figure (2:25) tend to their backyard flower garden. He tramps the grass, long legs amid the rose brush (2:51). Next sequence, aboard what appears to be the dining area of the Princess Cruise (3:58). A speedboat zips past in the water (4:19), a pair on the bow rides the sun beams off the water seams. The family exits the banquet entryway; couples hang at the elbow with short wrist white gloves (5:17). Girls wade down in furs (5:18), long tan dresses carting bouquets of white blossoms (5:18). Next sequence, well dressed people possibly just home from church. Sundown gathering; a blue pastel dressed matron swings in with a gold clutch (5:49). An older man smiles, snapping at the camera back with cheek bones all happy (5:52). Dim scenes follow as folks settle in with the evening sun (6:09). Film concludes with the drive out of Paradise passing local shops, evergreens patch between (6:20). Sign for Paradise (6:29). Workers around the world are rallying today to mark May Day, International Workers' Day. The May Day Strong coalition in the United States says 3,000 protests and events are scheduled across the country today, with organizers calling for “no school, no work, no shopping." A national public holiday in many countries, International Workers’ Day commemorates the 1886 Haymarket Square Riots in Chicago, where workers struggled for an eight-hour workday. Stacy Davis Gates, president of the Chicago Teachers Union, talks about the efforts Chicago teachers have taken to educate their students about May Day.
