Sarber and H.C. Trowe, and distributed by Starlake Films of Indiana. The film shows some of the last days of operation of the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range steam locomotive No. 225. This was a Class M-3 2-8-8-4 "Yellowstone" type steam locomotive. (Note: this locomotive is currently on static display at Charles E. Carlson Park in Proctor, Minnesota.) The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway hauled heavy iron ore in Minnesota. The DM&IR operated long trains of ore cars, requiring maximum power. The "Missabe Giant" locomotives were based upon ten 2-8-8-2s that Baldwin had built in the 1930s for the Western Pacific RR. The need for a larger, coal-burning firebox and a longer, all-weather cab led to the use of a four-wheel trailing truck, giving them the "Yellowstone" wheel arrangement. They were the most powerful Yellowstones built, producing 140,000 lbf (620 kN) of tractive effort, and had the most weight on drivers so that they were less prone to slipping. Eight locomotives (class M-3) were built by Baldwin in 1941. The Yellowstones met or exceeded the DM&IR specifications, so 10 more were ordered (class M-4). The second batch was completed in late 1943 after the Missabe's seasonal downturn in ore traffic, so some of the new M-4s were leased to and delivered directly to the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. DM&IRs were the only Yellowstones to have a high-capacity pedestal or centipede tender, and had roller bearings on all axles. Some of the locomotives had a cylindrical Elesco feedwater heater ahead of the smoke stack, while others had a Worthington unit with its rectangular box in the same location. Only one Yellowstone was retired before dieselization took place on the Missabe; No. 237 was sold for scrap after a wreck. The rest of the 2-8-8-4s were retired between 1958 and 1963 as diesel locomotives took over. Of the eighteen built, three survive and are on display in Minnesota: No. 225 at Proctor, No. 227 at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth and No. 229 at Two Harbors. Ze hebben er lang op moeten wachten, maar vandaag - precies 75 jaar nadat de eerste Molukse KNIL-militairen en hun gezinnen in Nederland aankwamen - werd op het Marineterrein een monument onthuld voor de veertien mariniers die in de kazerne op Kattenburg gestationeerd waren: "Het is voor mij een heel moelijke dag." "Heel bijzonder", zegt de 95-jarige mevrouw Tahapary-Paais. "En ook heel belangrijk." Als dochter van een marinier heeft ze 1951, het jaar dat ze in Nederland aankwam, nog vers in haar gedachten: "We moesten binnen 24 uur Indonesië verlaten, dus we moesten heel snel inpakken. Toen we in Nederland aankwamen kregen we rijsttafel." Na de onafhankelijkheid van Indonesië en de opheffing van het Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch Leger (KNIL), het koloniale leger van Nederland, werden ruim 3500 Molukse militairen naar Nederland gebracht. In het KNIL dienden relatief veel Molukkers. In 1951 dachten zij tijdelijk naar Nederland te worden gebracht, in afwachting van een definitieve oplossing van hun politieke situatie en de oprichting van een eigen, onafhankelijke staat.  "Maar drie maanden werden zes maanden werden 75 jaar", vertelt initiatiefnemer van de herdenking Huib Akihary van stichting Omba Pikub. "Voornamelijk de eerste generatie had een zwaar trauma, nadat ze vanuit Nederlands-Indië naar Nederland kwamen, wat ze eigenlijk niet wilden. Ze wilden terug naar Ambon, en dat heeft zeker de eerste twee generaties veel verdriet gedaan." Vanaf de Javakade werd in de middag met speeches en drakenboten de aankomst van de vier schepen met meer dan duizend gerepatrieerde KNIL-militairen en hun families in 1951 herdacht. In haar speech riep burgemeester Halsema de Nederlandse regering op excuses te maken voor haar rol in de pijn en het verdriet van de Molukse bevolking. "Dat hadden ze eigenlijk eerder moeten doen", zegt mevrouw Maail-Pattipeilohy van 96. "Toen leefden ze nog, nu leeft er niemand meer." Ze is met haar gezin naar de herdenking gekomen: "Ik denk aan mijn vader. Hij is zomaar weggegaan. Ik mis hem nog steeds, iedere avond denk ik aan hem en aan mijn moeder. Wat we hebben meegemaakt zal ik altijd aan mijn kinderen vertellen." Naast het definitieve monument op het Marineterrein komt er volgende maand nog een tijdelijk monument op de Javakade bij.  In de week van 11 mei worden vier gedenktegels geplaatst in het plaveisel, met daarop de schepen en de aankomstdata.
