Raakt Nederland zijn elektrische occasions kwijt aan Denemarken? Wat begon als een succesvolle stimulans voor elektrisch rijden, dreigt nu een onverwacht effect te krijgen: duizenden gebruikte elektrische auto’s verdwijnen over de grens. Door lage prijzen en een groeiende vraag zijn elektrische occasions populairder dan ooit. Maar juist op het moment dat deze markt in Nederland op gang komt, blijkt het aanbod weg te lekken — vooral naar Denemarken. Maar die groei is nog niet sterk genoeg om het aanbod bij te houden. De oorzaak ligt deels in beleid. Fiscale voordelen zijn afgebouwd en de wegenbelasting voor elektrische auto’s gaat de komende jaren omhoog — tot het volledige tarief in 2030. En omdat elektrische auto’s zwaar zijn, kan dat flink in de kosten lopen. Het gevolg: een markt die eindelijk begint te groeien, maar tegelijk zijn voorraad verliest. Op een doodgewone maandagmiddag in 2003 horen de twee vriendinnen Masa en Eva babygehuil uit de portiek van de woning van Eva in de Pijp. Als ze dichterbij komen zien ze het goed. Het is een pasgeboren baby, gewikkeld in een plastic tasje. In het ziekenhuis krijgt ze de naam: Lieve. Nu 22 jaar later zoekt Lieve haar ouders, in de nieuwe AT5 podcast De Vondeling. "Haar navelstreng zat er nog aan". Eva en Masa herinneren zich het nog goed. Het is een druilerige maandagmiddag als ze een pasgeboren baby vinden in de Van Ostadestraat in de Pijp. Ze bellen direct de alarmcentrale. Eenmaal in de ambulance, mogen de twee vrouwen niet meer bij de baby komen. "Voor u eigen best wil, zeiden ze. Alsof we ons teveel aan het kind zouden gaan hechten." Het is 22 jaar later als twee vrouwen weer voor het eerst het meisje zien, dat ze destijds vonden. Ze is inmiddels natuurlijk een volwassen vrouw. Een warme omhelzing, een paar tranen en vele herinneringen ophalend gaan de vrouwen weer hun eigen weg. Het is een van de vele ontmoetingen. Ook hebben we een oproep gedaan bij Opsporing Verzocht." De politie doet van alles om ook maar iets te weten te komen over Lieve haar biologische ouders, maar het onderzoek loopt al snel vast. De jaren gaan voorbij en als Lieve 12 jaar is, verjaart de zaak en kan de politie strafrechtelijk gezien niks meer doen. Maar de vragen blijven: Waarom ben ik achtergelaten? Waar ben ik geboren? "There's been a lot of American signaling that the U.S. would really love to have Viktor Orbán be reelected. The problem is the Hungarian people don't seem to agree." Scheppele also discusses the role of Sebastian Gorka, a top counterterrorism official in the Trump administration, who has longstanding ties to the far right in Hungary and has been instrumental in forging closer ties between the two governments. According to a recent New York Times investigation, Gorka is also leading an effort to target left-wing groups in the United States and abroad as "terrorist organizations." Het is niet heel veilig en verboden, maar het gebeurt massaal: fietsen over het spoor en een smalle brug bij het Amsterdamse Bos. Fietsers doen dat omdat de brug ernaast dit jaar werd weggehaald vanwege werkzaamheden. Een van de fietsers spreekt van een leuke uitdaging. "Misschien val je in het water, maar waarschijnlijk niet. Maar ik zou mijn moeder hier niet laten fietsen." Een ander vertelt dat dit tochtje een eitje is, omdat hij ook al in de bossen van de Amazone is geweest. "Ik ben een hele moedig man. Daar waren slangen en die zaten op mijn been". De eigenaar van de trambaan, dat is de Museumtramlijn, en de gemeente laten weten dat zowel het fietsen als lopen over het spoor en de brug niet mag. Er worden soms fietsers of voetgangers beboet. egelijkertijd is de situatie niet voor iedereen duidelijk. Aan de zuidkant mag de spoorbaan niet worden afgesloten, omdat er (vaak op de zondag) een tram rijdt. Aan de noordkant staat wel een hek, maar dat wordt vaak opengezet door voorbijgangers. Maar er staat dus ook nog een bord waarop staat dat lopen nu niet mag. Het stadsdeel denkt nu na over een slot om het hek. In de derde week van mei zijn de werkzaamheden afgerond en komt er een verbrede brug. Zo moet die eruit gaan zien: Totdat de brug er is, verzoekt de gemeente fietsers en voetgangers om de aangegeven omleidingsroute te gebruiken. Volgens de gemeente levert dat voor fietsers nauwelijks extra reistijd op. Reactie stadsdeel Zuid "We voeren werkzaamheden uit aan de Sportas om deze belangrijke fiets- en wandelverbinding tussen Amsterdam, het Amsterdamse Bos en Amstelveen toekomstbestendig te maken. De route wordt intensief gebruikt door fietsers en wandelaars en verbindt meerdere sportvoorzieningen langs het traject. Door de groei van het aantal gebruikers is het nodig de route te verbeteren en veiliger en toegankelijker in te richten. Daarom verbreden we het fietspad tot 4,5 meter en het voetpad tot 2 meter en brengen we nieuw asfalt aan. Ook vervangen we de brug bij de Emmakade in Amstelveen en verbreden we de brug tussen de Stedenmaagd en de Jachthavenweg. Tegelijkertijd worden werkzaamheden uitgevoerd aan kabels en leidingen. Door deze werkzaamheden te combineren beperken we de overlast zoveel mogelijk en zorgen we ervoor dat de route weer jarenlang veilig en goed gebruikt kan worden. In hoeverre is het toegestaan om hier te fietsen of te lopen? Het is niet toegestaan om over de spoorbaan te lopen of het bouwterrein te betreden, dit is aangegeven met borden aan beide kanten. Er kan worden gehandhaafd. Wandelaars en fietsers kunnen dan een waarschuwing of een boete krijgen. Aan de kant van de jachthaven is de weg met bouwhekken afgesloten. Wandelaars en fietsers maken deze hekken zo nu en dan open, daarom gaan we kijken of we de hekken extra goed kunnen vastzetten met een slot. De museumtrambaan kan niet permanent worden afgesloten omdat de museumtramlijn incidenteel wordt gebruikt voor onderhoudswerkzaamheden. In hoeverre vindt het stadsdeel het wenselijk dat mensen hier fietsen of lopen? We begrijpen dat het voor fietsers en wandelaars vervelend is dat er werkzaamheden plaatsvinden op hun route. We adviseren hen om gebruik te maken van de aangegeven omleidingsroute. Deze route is veilig en goed toegankelijk. Voor fietsers betekent dit vrijwel geen extra reistijd. Het is belangrijk dat fietsers en wandelaars zich realiseren dat de trambaan soms in gebruik is. Tot wanneer blijft dit stuk afgesloten voor fietsers en wandelaars? De eerste werkzaamheden aan het traject zijn gestart in november 2024. De werkzaamheden aan de brug bij de Stedenmaagd – het deel dat momenteel is afgesloten – zijn begin 2026 gestart. Naar verwachting zijn de werkzaamheden op dit stuk in de derde week van mei afgerond." Reactie Elektrische Museumtramlijn Amsterdam "Wij betreuren dat mensen ons spoor gebruiken als voet/fietspad. Dit kunnen wij ook niet goedkeuren en doen dat ook niet. Onze Medewerkers spreken daarom ook altijd de personen hierop aan. De hekken zijn open doordat 1. Onze spoorlijn niet zomaar afgesloten kan en mag worden met een hek. 2. Wij rijden zondag en regelmatig ook door de weeks. Het op slot zetten van het hek zou te ingewikkeld zijn. Wij vinden dat iedereen zich gewoon aan de regels moet houden en niet over onze spoorlijn moet lopen. Mount Rushmore may be one of the world’s most iconic landmarks, but it isn’t actually finished. Gutzon Borglum’s original design envisioned each president carved down to the waist—not just the heads we see today. He also began work on a hidden Hall of Records - a tomb-like chamber behind the mountain intended to house important documents - but it was never completed. With the outbreak of World War II, funding and labour were redirected, bringing work to a halt. Borglum died in 1941, leaving behind an ambitious vision that remains only partially realised.

Een achtervolging met de politie is voor een verdachte vanmiddag in de binnenstad in het water geëindigd. Hij sprong vanaf de Prins Hendrikkade het water in, maar kwam daar niet verder. Hij bleek niet te kunnen zwemmen. Agenten in burger hadden de man gevolgd, nadat er volgens een woordvoerder van de politie een 'verdachte situatie' was ontstaan. "Hij is daarna het water in gevlucht, maar hij kon niet zwemmen", vertelt de politiewoordvoerder. Een schipper van een voorbijvarende boot schoot te hulp. De man is vastgepakt door die schipper en later door agenten aangehouden. Daarna hebben agenten nog een tijdje op de kant gestaan. Er dreef namelijk nog een zakje met witte bolletjes, vermoedelijk drugs of nepdrugs, op het water.
