Hij werd beroofd van zijn dure Rolex, maar het Openbaar Ministerie eiste vandaag een celstraf van twee jaar tegen de man voor een poging tot doodslag op zijn overvallers. Nadat hij een doorgeladen vuurwapen tegen zijn hoofd had gekregen ging Lex van der Z. achter de jongens aan en reed hij de mannen volgens justitie doelbewust van hun scooter. Op een namiddag in de zomer van 2025 spreekt Lex van der Z. af in Osdorp om zijn Rolex met een waarde van 15.000 euro te verkopen. Via via had de man contact gekregen met twee geïnteresseerde kopers. Maar toen hij op de afgesproken locatie in arriveerde, trok een van de mannen een vuurwapen en zette die tegen zijn hoofd. Onder bedreiging werd het horloge van de man afgepakt, waarna de twee er op een scooter vandoor gingen. Aanrijding of per ongeluk De man besloot daarop de achtervolging in te zetten en volgde de mannen met hoge snelheid. Uit onderzoek blijkt dat achtervolging minder dan één minuut duurde en eindigde toen de scooter met de twee mannen ten val kwam op de kruising van de Ookmeerweg en de Reimerswaalstraat ten val kwam. Onduidelijk is of de verdachte de mannen heeft aangereden, of dat zij zelf de controle verloren. In ieder geval pakte de man zijn Rolex terug en verliet hij de plaats van het ongeluk en liet de twee mannen zwaargewond achter. Ze moeten geopereerd worden: een van hen had onder meer een verbrijzelde enkel, de ander een gebroken rugwervel. Volgens Van der Z. is er sprake van een vergissing. "Ik wilde ze volgen zodat ze konden worden aangehouden. Ik heb hen niet aangereden, we zijn met elkaar in aanraking gekomen. We reden op de straat, er kwam een T-splitsing, ze remden, gingen onderuit en toen kwamen we met elkaar in aanraking." Maar volgens het Openbaar Ministerie reed Z. de twee moedwillig met een snelheid van 93 kilometer per uur van hun scooter: "Verdachte heeft twee mensen hard aangereden met zijn Ford Raptor. Laat ik heel duidelijk zijn dat hier geen sprake is van een ongeluk, een toevallige botsing, of zoals uit sommige mediaberichten blijkt een heldenactie. Dit is een hele bewuste actie geweest, waarin verdachte de daders van de overval wilde terugpakken en kosten wat het kost zijn goederen terug wilde pakken", zo zegt de officier van justitie. En dat lukte, het slachtoffer van de beroving pakte, terwijl de twee jongens op straat liggen, zijn Rolex terug en ging er op hoge snelheid vandoor. Het OM vervolgt de man voor een poging tot doodslag en eist twee jaar cel waarvan zes maanden voorwaardelijk. "Natuurlijk neem ik in de strafmaat mee wat verdachte hiervoor is overkomen en voor die overval zijn de daders ook zwaar bestraft, maar met deze actie heeft verdachte een vorm gekozen van eigenrichting en dat neem ik verdachte zeer kwalijk." Alexander Admiraal, advocaat van de aangeklaagde, noemt dit de 'omgekeerde wereld'. Volgens hem is zijn cliënt in de eerste plaats slachtoffer van een ernstig geweldsmisdrijf. "Ik vind het echt de wereld op zijn kop, mijn client is slachtoffer geworden van een zeer brute overval op klaarlichte dag. Twee mannen laden een pistool door op zijn hoofd, stelen zijn Rolex en kiezen ervoor met hoge snelheid weg te rijden. Hij moet erachteraan, zij komen ten val en hij moet dan niet alleen een eis van 24 maanden aanhoren, maar ook dat de overvallers meer dan een ton schadevergoeding vragen." Lebanon has declared a day of mourning after Israeli attacks on Wednesday killed over 250 people and injured 1,000 others. At one point, Israel launched a hundred strikes in just 10 minutes. Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun condemned the attacks as “barbaric” and accused Israel of carrying out a new massacre. The strikes came as the Israeli government and the Trump administration claim the Iran ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon. Since Israel’s genocide of Gaza, “the silence of states and the continued flow of weapons has only emboldened Israel,” says Beirut-based Human Rights Watch researcher Ramzi Kaiss.

Afgelopen paasweekend brandden in twee opeenvolgende nachten drie auto’s en drie scooters uit. Een van die auto's was de Opel Astra van Niels Merk (87) en zijn vrouw Leida (88).   Normaal gesproken is er niet zoveel aan de hand op Celebesstraat in Oost, zeggen buurtbewoners. Maar afgelopen weekend was het opeens raak. Een auto wordt in brand in gestoken en slaat over naar twee andere auto's.  Meneer Merk is er stil van, zegt hij. "Ik kan me wel flink houden, maar ik ben niet flink." Zijn vrouw is ernstig ziek en hij heeft zijn auto nodig om haar naar het ziekenhuis te brengen. "Je komt nu nergens." Meneer Merk werd die nacht wakker van een knal. Snel ging hij de trap af in een poging om zijn auto nog uit de vlammen te duwen. "Maar ik kwam niet verder dan de deur, want het was niet te houden, zo heet." Scooters Een nacht later wordt de buurt opgeschrikt door nog een brand, maar dan een straat verderop. Drie scooters gaan in vlammen op en slaan tot aan de bovenste etage. Buurtbewoners zijn geschrokken. "Dit is niet hoe ik de buurt ken", zegt een man wiens ouders in het gebouw wonen.  Op de begane grond woont sinds drie dagen een nieuwe buurvrouw, vertelt hij. Voor het gesprongen raam hangt nu een groot stuk hout. "Niet echt een warm welkom." Niemand aangehouden In beide gevallen is er sprake van brandstichting, meldt een woordvoerder van de politie. Volgens de woordvoerder is het opvallend dat de twee branden vlak na elkaar plaatsvonden en onderzoekt de zaak. Niet alle buurtbewoners zijn te spreken over de manier waarop het Rijksmuseum bezig is met de bouw van een beeldentuin in het naastgelegen Carel Willinkplantsoen. Naast de netten die het museum om bomen heeft gehangen, zijn er namelijk ook vogelkastjes dichtgeplakt. De kastjes waren een paar jaar geleden door buurtbewoners, die samen in een vogelwerkgroep zitten, opgehangen. Het Rijksmuseum wil voorkomen dat vogels naar het plantsoen komen om hier te broeden en heeft daarom niet alleen netten om de bomen gehangen, maar ook grijze tape op de vogelkastjes geplakt. Als vogels tijdens het broedseizoen ergens een nest maken, mag daar namelijk niet gebouwd worden. "Vanwege een of ander poenerig project wordt het afgeplakt", zegt buurtbewoner Arnold. "Ik ben voor kunst. Kunst geeft zuurstof, kunst geeft leven. Maar dat moet samengaan: natuur en kunst." In het plantsoen zullen negen bomen gekapt - of in de woorden van het museum 'weggehaald' - worden. Twee bomen worden verplaatst. De buurt is met brieven en bijeenkomsten op de hoogte gebracht. Bewoner Peter Jan was bij een van die buurtbijeenkomsten. "Op mijn vraag over de bomenkap zeiden ze, de zichtlijnen zijn belangrijk. Toen zei ik al, mijn broek zakt af tot mijn knieën. Die hangt daar nog." Nieuwe bomen Het Rijksmuseum liet vorige week al aan AT5 weten dat de netten tijdelijk zijn en dat ze bedoeld zijn om de broedperiode van vogels later niet te verstoren. Een woordvoerder benadrukt dat er juist 22 nieuwe bomen neergezet worden en dat het Rijksmuseum op eigen terrein voor alternatieve nestkastjes heeft gezorgd. De komst van de beeldentuin is een gevolg van een schenking door de adellijke familie Van Rappard. Het gaat om een bedrag van 60 miljoen euro. Tien miljoen wordt gebruikt voor het maken van de beeldentuin, de rest is voor de exploitatie of voor later gebruik. Er zullen werken van onder meer Alberto Giacometti, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Jean Arp, Roni Horn en Henry Moore te zien zijn. De bouw moet ergens dit jaar starten, maar een datum is nog onbekend.
