Grilled chicken, sun-dried tomato, pasta salad Ingredients 4 chicken thighs (approx 600g/1.3lbs), boneless and skinless 70ml olive oil 1 tbsp smoked paprika 1 tsp garlic powder Sea salt and cracked black pepper, to season 2 zucchini 500g orecchiette 100g sun-dried tomatoes in oil 30g grated parmesan cheese 1 clove garlic 30g walnuts, toasted 60ml (¼ cup) water 1 handful fresh basil leaves Juice of 1 lemon Method Step 1: Start the chicken Preheat the oven grill (broiler) to 200°C (390°F). Toss the chicken thighs with 30mls of the olive oil, the paprika, garlic powder and a large pinch of salt and black pepper in a large bowl until well combined. Transfer the chicken to a wire rack over a lined oven tray and place under the grill. Cook for 15-18 minutes, until browned and the internal temperature reaches 62°C (143°F). Step 2: Start the pasta While the chicken is cooking, bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil over high heat. Slice the zucchini lengthways into quarters and cut out the core. Dice the zucchini into roughly the same size as the pasta. Once the water is boiling, add the orecchiette and cook for 6 minutes, then add the zucchini and cook for a further 2 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop it cooking and sticking together. Set it aside. Step 3: Make the pesto While the pasta is cooking, combine the sundried tomatoes in their oil, parmesan, garlic, walnuts and the remaining 40ml olive oil in a small food processor. Season with some salt and process until a rough puree. Add the water and process again until smooth. Set aside. Step 4: Rest the chicken and bring it all together When the chicken is cooked, allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. In a large serving bowl, toss the pasta with zucchini, sun-dried tomato pesto, torn basil leaves and lemon juice. Top with the sliced chicken and serve.

You may think that a silk dress and binary coding have very little to do with one another, but actually they’re more closely related than you think. Long before computers existed, silk weavers were already working with systems that worked a lot like digital code. On early looms, a series of pedals, shafts, and beams controlled the threads: press a pedal and a shaft lifts; release it and the threads fall back into place. Each movement determined which strands of silk rose and which stayed down, shaping the pattern thread by thread. By combining these motions in different sequences, weavers could create incredibly complex designs.

De Eerste Kamer is allesbehalve een chambre de réflection. Zoveel werd deze week weer eens onderstreept toen PRO het debat over de verhoging van de AOW-leeftijd naar de Senaat verlegde. Vooruitlopend op een mogelijk voorstel van minister Hans Vijlbrief (D66) van Sociale Zaken, bracht PRO-fractievoorzitter Paul Rosenmöller een motie in stelling tegen snellere verhogingen van de AOW-leeftijd. De motie werd door een ruime meerderheid in de Eerste Kamer aangenomen. De timing van de motie is opmerkelijk. Het is in politiek Den Haag goed gebruik dat de Eerste Kamer zich pas over wetsvoorstellen buigt nádat deze zijn aangenomen door de Tweede Kamer. Hiervan is in dit geval nog geen sprake. Sterker, het minderheidskabinet heeft überhaupt nog geen voorstel naar het parlement gestuurd. In Radio Vrij Nederland analyseren hoofdredacteur Sander Heijne en politiek commentator Hendrik Noten dat het nog maar de vraag is in hoeverre het kabinet echt voornemens is om de AOW-leeftijd versneld te verhogen. De maatregel is in strijd met het Pensioenakkoord waar de Polder meer dan tien jaar over onderhandelde. Mogelijk heeft de coalitie de maatregel vooral opgenomen in het regeerakkoord als wisselgeld om, bijvoorbeeld, steun te vergaren voor bezuinigingen op werkloosheidswet WW. Dit wisselgeld wordt de coalitie nu uit handen geslagen door de Eerste Kamer. Bij aanstaande onderhandelingen over bezuinigingen op de sociale zekerheid weet de meerderheidsoppositie één ding zeker: ze hoeven niet opnieuw te onderhandelen over de pensioenleeftijd. Want tenzij de ploeg van Jetten bij de Provinciale Statenverkiezingen in 2027 alsnog een meerderheid behaalt in de Eerste Kamer, is iedere deal in de Tweede Kamer om de pensioenleeftijd versneld te verhogen bij voorbaat kansloos. There is simply no acceptable reason to remotely view children via a preschool or private gym's cameras unless a serious crime was committed. I want to be 100% clear here about something I don't take lightly. This post is NOT accusing anyone of pedophilia, and I'm not saying that because a lawyer told me to. I do not know why they were accessed, but there certainly ARE reasons these cameras may have been accessed by employees that are not personal, such as product demos to other clients. I do not think that is an appropriate reason because the people in the community center did not consent, nor have a reason to believe that they were being watched by Flock employees or police via a remote location. Regardless of the reason, I do not think it was appropriate, and it's up to the community center and its members on how seriously they want to take it or if they want to file charges. I can't police every comment, nor do I want to, but please do consider that frivolous pedo accusations often chip away at the seriousness of circumstances where children were abused.

Koningin Máxima was vandaag op bezoek bij buurthuis De Bol in Noord. De koningin kreeg een uitgebreide rondleiding langs alle bedrijfjes in het buurtcentrum. "Noord is een beetje een vergeten plek. Opeens is de koningin er." Bij een buurthuis kan je denken aan een slaperige ruimte waar eens per half jaar een keer iets wordt georganiseerd. Maar bij De Bol gaat het helemaal anders. Hier is plek voor verschillende ondernemers: een restaurant waar uitgebreid gekookt wordt, een bar, een kickboksruimte, een technisch lab voor kinderen en een plek voor workshops. Koningin Máxima nam vandaag de tijd om alle ondernemers, bezoekers en initiatiefnemers van De Bol uitgebreid te woord te staan. Dat maakte veel los. "Wonderbaarlijk", zegt een vrouw die stretch yoga geeft aan vrouwen met een migratieachtergrond. "Noord is een beetje een vergeten plek. Opeens is de koningin er. Eerst geloofde ik het niet. Op deze plek?" Ook een van de jongens die kickboksles volgt bij De Bol vond het bijzonder dat de koningin hier naartoe komt. "Een aangename ervaring. Dat ze meeleeft hoe het in deze wereld eraan toe gaat, in de buurthuizen, sportscholen. Dan krijgt ze toch het gevoel van de sfeer." Coöperatie Het buurtcentrum is een coöperatie. Dat betekent dat mensen hier een eigen bedrijf kunnen beginnen zoals de kickboksschool, maar de coöperatie betaalt ook mensen om de catering te verzorgen of schoon te maken. Het brengt dus veel werk naar de wijk. "Als je bij de Bol komt, dan ben je eigen baas. Iedereen doet wat er te doen is", zegt Mustapha Ben El Hossaien, die iedere maand een avond organiseert voor ouders uit de wijk. "Iedereen komt hier, van jong tot oud.
