"Ze lag gewikkeld in een plastic tasje en een theedoek." Het is 30 juni 2003 als de studenten Masa een Eva een baby vinden voor de woning van Eva in de Pijp. Ze bellen direct de politie. In het ziekenhuis krijgt de baby de naam: Lieve. Nu 22 jaar later gaat Lieve samen met podcastmaker Roos Gerritsen op zoek naar antwoorden in de nieuwe AT5 podcast 'De Vondeling'. Masa en Eva herinneren zich nog goed. Het is 22 jaar geleden als ze gewikkeld in een plastic tasje, een baby, voor de woning van Eva op de Van Ostadestraat 21. "Het was een heel zielig gehuil," vertelt Eva in de podcast 'De Vondeling'. Masa vult haar aan: "Toen keken we omhoog en toen zag ik een plasticje en dat bewoog. Toen liet ik mijn fiets uit mijn handen vallen en ik rende de trap op en riep: Eva, een kind! Het is een baby." "Je zag echt wel dat het met zorg daar was neergelegd. Want het had kleding aan, het was echt warm. En  het feit dat het op een veilige plek, waar een portiek van een voordeur wordt gelegd, dat geeft wel aan dat iemand, tenminste dat vul ik wel zelf in, maar hoopt dat de baby gevonden gaat worden." Manon van der Vlugt is de eerste agent die ter plaatse is. Ze weet het nog als de dag van gister. " Dat maakt wel indruk. Want tot die tijd had vooral heel veel parkeerproblematiek behandeld en burenruzies. Dus zo’n melding blijft je wel bij. Dat gebeurt niet iedere dag" De pasgeboren baby wordt meegenomen naar het ziekenhuis. Daar krijgt ze de naam: Lieve. De politie start direct met het onderzoek, want van haar ouders ontbreekt nog ieder spoor. Nu, 22 jaar later gaat Lieve terug in de tijd om antwoorden te vinden op de vragen die bleven. Waarom is ze achtergelaten voor huisnummer 21? Wie gaf haar haar naam? En wie zijn haar ouders? "Ik had in mijn hoofd dat het misschien een plek zou zijn, die een beetje verschuilt zou liggen. Maar ik vind het niet een enge plek. Ik weet natuurlijk niet hoe het er 21 jaar geleden uit heeft gezien, maar ik zie hele mooie tegeltjes aan de muur". Het is voor het eerst dat Lieve terug is op de plek waar ze werd achtergelaten. Samen met podcastmaker Roos Gerritsen gaat ze op zoek om te kijken of ze nog iets te weten kan komen van waarom ze werd achtergelaten.  Naast het verhaal van Lieve gaat de podcast ook verder in op het onderwerp vondelingen. Zo gaat Gerritsen langs bij de vondelingenkamer van Stichting Beschermde Wieg. In 2014 werd de eerste vondelingenkamer in Nederland geopend en tien jaar later opende ook de eerste kamer in Amsterdam. Sinds de opening van de vondelingenkamers is het aantal vondelingen afgenomen. Zo werden er sinds 2014 nog acht kinderen te vondeling gelegd, waarvan er drie werden afgestaan bij Stichting Beschermde Wieg. In de tijd dat Lieve te vondeling werd gelegd, was dat nog anders. Er werden dat jaar maar liefst zes kinderen te vondeling gelegd. Negen dagen na de vondst van Lieve, werd er ook in Amsterdam nog een baby te vondeling gelegd. Zou dit iets te maken kunnen hebben met de zaak Lieve? Het niet weten van haar achtergrond, leverde voor Lieve altijd veel vragen op. "Heb ik dan als baby heel veel gehuild dan? Was ik dan vervelend? Of hadden ze dan geen geld?." Want waarom ze achter werd gelaten, is nog altijd niet duidelijk.  "Ik werd gebeld door de ambulance met de mededeling: 'We komen met een gevonden kind'. Dat had ik nog niet eerder meegemaakt." Kinderarts Marina Keessen werkt al jaren bij het OLVG, als ze voor het eerst te maken krijgt met een vondeling. "Het was een heel bijzonder moment. Ik kan me nog goed herinneren dat de zon de couveusekamer in scheen op de pasgeboren baby. We stonden met z'n allen om haar heen en we dachten ze moet een naam, een identiteit hebben." De kinderarts kiest voor de naam Lieve, omdat ze in het Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis zijn en omdat ze haar zoon zo genoemd zou hebben als het een meisje is. Het is ruim 20 jaar later als Lieve weer voor haar staat. "Het was heel bijzonder om haar na 22 jaar weer terug te zien".  Lieve aarzelde om contact op te nemen met de kinderarts. "Eigenlijk vertelde ik nooit dat ik te vondeling was gelegd, omdat ik me daar heel erg voor schaamde," vertelt Lieve. "Ik heb wel eens gedacht om te gaan zoeken naar mijn familie, maar ik dacht dan ga ik ook Marina lastig vallen." De kinderarts glimlacht. "Nou je valt mij niet lastig hoor."  In de zoektocht zijn we niet alleen terecht gekomen bij de kinderarts, maar hebben we ook de oude gezinsvoogd Susanne van der Poel gevonden. Het lekkere weer en het lange Paasweekend zorgen voor extra veel toeristen in de stad. Ook zijn er weer veel toeristen in Tiktok-rijen, vlak na openingstijd al een rij voor de deur van de zaak van Fabel friet. Vijf man staan er in de piepkleine zaak te snijden, te bakken en te beuken. En dan is er recent ook nog iemand ingehuurd om de rij in goede banen te leiden. Deze crowdmanager zorgt ervoor dat klanten ruimte maken op de stoep voor passanten. De afgelopen weken trok het Bloesempark in het Amsterdamse Bos honderden bezoekers. De drukte leidde zelfs tot kritische vragen van raadsleden aan de Amstelveense gemeente. De bloesembelofte leidde met Pasen echter tot teleurstelling: de roze bloemen zijn al weg. ''Onze kinderen wilden niet zo vroeg uit bed, maar we zeiden dat het fantastisch was en nu is het dit." Een teleurgestelde blik en dan maar flink inzoomen met je camera: de bloesem is inmiddels vooral beperkt tot kleine roze knopjes. De kersenbloesems zijn het pronkstuk van het bloesempark in het Amsterdamse Bos, maar de bomen zijn ineens behoorlijk kaal. De bloesem bloeit namelijk maar een paar weken per jaar. Volgens de Amstelveense GroenLinks-PvdA en D66 voelde het Amsterdamse Bos deze bloeimaand voor omwonenden als 'een pretpark'. De partijen waarschuwden voor de gevolgen van de mensenmassa voor vogels in het broedseizoen. Ook vonden ze dat de balans tussen levendigheid en leefbaarheid in het park met kersenbloesems onder druk staat. Daar was daar op tweede paasdag weinig van te merken. "We zijn te laat. Nu is er weinig meer over'', zegt een bezoeker die met een meegenomen tuinstoeltje afdruipt. Een aantal toeristen probeert er maar het beste van te maken. "Ik ben teleurgesteld in mezelf want ik had vorige week moeten komen", zegt een teleurgestelde bezoeker. Op zijn camera haalt hij een laatste stukje roze nog dichterbij. At least 17 people were arrested Saturday as Israeli police violently cracked down on an antiwar protest in Tel Aviv, where hundreds had gathered condemning the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Israeli peace activist Alon-Lee Green, who helped organize the protest and was among those arrested, says the Israeli public’s initial support for the war has rapidly declined in recent weeks, as the quick, decisive engagement that was promised has not come to fruition. Green spoke to Democracy Now! from a courthouse where he is filing for a restraining order against right-wing extremists who have harassed him at his home. Israeli peace activists are accusing both law enforcement and right-wing groups in the country of violating their constitutional right to protest.

Aan de Apollolaan in Oud-Zuid zijn drie weken voor Koningsdag al tientallen plekken 'bezet' met krijt en slingers. Dat is wat vroeg vinden ook de bewoners, maar de vrijmarkt in de straat is zo populair dat het anders zomaar eens te laat kan zijn. "Het is de Leidsestraat van Koningsdag", zegt een bewoonster. De markt is zo populair dat de stoep voor de deur van een bewoner twee jaar geleden verkocht werd.  Op zaterdag 27 april is het weer Koningsdag en wordt er traditiegetrouw 'rommel' verkocht op vrijmarkten door heel de stad. Een van de populairste markten is in de Apollolaan in Oud-Zuid. Daarom wordt daar nu al fanatiek territorium afgebakend om op Koningsdag zeker te zijn van goede plaats. Een buurtbewoner vertelt dat hij het erg vroeg vindt om nu al bezig te zijn met Koningsdag, maar zegt hij: "als je hier over drie weken komt, begrijp je waarom mensen dat nu doen." Zo vertelde hij over kinderen die na een succesvolle Koningsdag met duizend euro naar huis gingen door een dagje hotdogs te verkopen. Een mevrouw die zichzelf met krijt een plek aan het toe-eigenen is, zegt: "het is eigenlijk bizar dat het nu al moet, maar kom je over een week dan is alles al bezet." Plekken doorverkocht Een bewoner vertelt dat een deel van de stoep voor zijn huis twee jaar geleden is verkocht. Op die manier konden mensen tegen betaling een goede plek krijgen voor tijdens de vrijmarkt. "Dat vonden we niet passen bij het Koningsdag gevoel", zegt hij. En daarom hangen er dit jaar papieren voor zijn huis met 'niet te huur, of te koop' erop. Een andere buurtbewoner reageert hier lachend op: "Briljante handel", zegt hij. Dat zijn onroerend goed mannen die dat hebben gedaan." Een andere mevrouw gelooft niet wat ze hoort en zegt: "voor vijfhonderd euro mogen ze al mijn spullen kopen en mijn plek hebben. For others it is science. Then again there are those who endorse religion or philosophy as the most powerful grand narrative. There's little agreement on which is the best or even if there is a "best" overall narrative. Richard Dawkins declared "Science is the poetry of reality." Yet the founder of the philosophy of science, Auguste Comte, argued that "to understand a science, it is necessary to know its history." Cicero went further claiming history "is the light of truth." While Thucydides argued that behind all history is philosophy: "History is philosophy teaching by example." For Hegel philosophy and history were one. And of course, for many religious belief is paramount. Do we need to choose between science, history, philosophy and religion? Is one dominant and the others merely incidental? Or can we hold all of them at once, even if in some respects they are incompatible? #philosophy #history #religion Steve Fuller is a professor of sociology at the University of Warwick. "Ze doen dit al jaren en het wordt alleen maar erger", aldus Rezelman. "Eindelijk begint de wethouder een beetje wakker te worden, want het is een hele vreemde constructie." Crumbed Lamb's Brains with Sauce Gribiche Ingredients 500g lamb's brains 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar 1 fresh bay leaf ¼ tsp black peppercorns 50g (⅓ cup) plain flour Sea salt and cracked white pepper, to season 2 eggs 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Neutral oil, for shallow frying Sauce gribiche 4 eggs 1 tbsp Dijon mustard 1 tbsp white wine vinegar 120ml neutral oil (grapeseed or similar) 2 tbsp capers 2 tbsp cornichons, finely chopped 1 tbsp finely chopped flat-leaf parsley 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh tarragon Sea salt and cracked white pepper, to season Method Step 1: Prep the brains Add 1 tbsp salt to 1L of cold water and soak the brains in it for 1 hour, changing the water once with fresh cold salted water. Drain the brains and gently peel away any membrane and blood vessels. Bring a medium saucepan of water to a simmer over medium heat. Add the vinegar, bay leaf, 0.5 tbsp salt and peppercorns. Lower the brains in and poach over a med low heat for 8 minutes (you should have some very small bubbles but not a rolling boil). Drain the brains on some paper towel or cloth lined wire rack over a tray and place in the fridge to cool completely. Step 2: Make the sauce gribiche Cook the eggs in a medium saucepan of boiling water for 8 minutes, to hard boil. Remove the eggs with a slotted spoon and plunge into iced water to cool for 10 minutes. Peel the eggs and separate the yolks and whites. Place the yolks in a large bowl and mash with a fork. Mix in the mustard and vinegar. Slowly whisk in the oil to form a loose, mayonnaise-like emulsion. Season with salt and pepper. Finely chop the egg whites, cornichons and capers then add to the sauce along with the parsley and tarragon. Mix well and season with salt and white pepper. Transfer to a serving bowl. Step 3: Coat the brains Place the flour in a shallow bowl or tray and season with salt and pepper. Lightly beat the eggs and place in another tray. Place ¾ of the breadcrumbs in a shallow tray, then the rest on a plate or tray for the finished brains. Slice the brains in half vertically, then toss in the flour, shaking off any excess. Coat them in the egg, then the breadcrumbs. Transfer to the plate with the additional breadcrumbs. Step 4: Cook and serve Heat enough oil in a deep frying pan to shallow fry, over a medium-high heat. Fry the brains for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden and crisp. Drain them on a wire rack or some paper towel and season with salt. Serve immediately with the sauce gribiche.

"Ze doen dit al jaren en het wordt alleen maar erger", aldus Rezelman. "Eindelijk begint de wethouder een beetje wakker te worden, want het is een hele vreemde constructie." In Utrecht is er al een verkoopverbod voor dit soort losse kamers. Wethouder Zita Pels van Volkshuisvesting zei eerder deze week tegen de Telegraaf te willen onderzoeken of dit in Amsterdam ook kan.
