Terwijl de kinderen buiten paaseieren zochten, zongen de volwassenen binnen mee met de liederen om de wederopstanding van Jezus Christus te vieren.Het is vroeg op zondagochtend als de Bethelkerk aan het Plejadenplein in Noord langzaam volstroomt. De geur van koffie en vers brood hangt in de lucht; Pasen is begonnen en dat wordt gevierd met een uitgebreid paasontbijt. Jong en oud schuiven aan de lange tafels aan. Het ontbijt is een manier om de paasdagen in te luiden en tegelijkertijd de gemeenschap in Noord samen te brengen. En dat is belangrijk, vindt predikant Mirjam Sloots: "Er is heel veel afstand in de samenleving. Zoek elkaar op en blijf in verbinding." Pasen is voor christenen het belangrijkste feest van het jaar. Het viert de opstanding van Jezus Christus en markeert het einde van de veertigdagentijd (de vastenperiode). In kerken door heel Amsterdam worden dit weekend speciale diensten gehouden, maar in de Bethelkerk begint de viering samen aan tafel. Na het ontbijt volgt de paasdienst. Hier is er tijd om stil te staan bij het thema van dit jaar: wat betekent Pasen voor ons leven anno 2026? Ook worden er veel paasliederen gezongen. Jaarlijks worden er tachtig films en series opgenomen in de stad. De filmcommissie van de gemeente behandelt alle filmverzoeken. Hun voornaamste doel? Ervoor zorgen dat Amsterdammers niet te veel overlast ervaren. "Ik roep altijd: 'Jullie willen filmen in een woonwijk, maar het is niet de bedoeling dat de bewoners wonen op een filmset'. Dat vinden we heel belangrijk", zegt Emiel de Booij van de filmcommissie van de gemeente over hun dagelijkse werk. Ze houden met veel rekening als er aanvragen binnenkomen. "Als een locatie heel erg druk is en als er belangrijke routes doorheen lopen, dan is dat wel een dingetje", vertelt Glenda Cameron, die ook bij de filmcommissie van de gemeente werkt. Vijf verzoeken per dag De filmcommissie krijgt vijf verzoeken per dag. Veel van die verzoeken worden afgewezen. Daar zitten soms ook wat opmerkelijke verzoeken tussen. "Ze wilden de hele dag de Vijzelstraat afzetten. Hoe denk je dat we dat kunnen regelen? En waarom zou ik dat willen regelen", vertelt Emiel. Vaak als ze een verzoek krijgen overleggen ze met andere mensen van de gemeente. En bij een positieve beoordeling mag het dan doorgaan. Zoals gebeurde bij de grote Hollywood film The Riders, met acteur Brat Pitt. Op meerdere plekken in de stad waren er opnames. Hoe duur is filmen in Amsterdam? Je hoeft in Amsterdam niet een standaard bedrag te betalen om te filmen, dat is altijd gratis. Maar er komen snel heel veel kosten bij kijken, zeker bij een grote productie. "Waar wij naar kunnen kijken is het aantal parkeerplekken dat ze hadden gereserveerd. En toen zat je bij deze productie al op ongeveer 25.000 euro aan parkeerkosten", aldus Emiel. Objectvergunning Uiteraard was het uiteindelijke bedrag vele malen hoger. Zo heb je bijvoorbeeld ook een objectvergunning nodig. Dat is een vergunning voor als je tijdelijk iets in de openbare ruimte wilt plaatsen, zoals filmapparatuur, bouwmaterialen of een container. Aan de hand van de grootte van het object berekent de gemeente de prijs. Hiervan kunnen de kosten snel oplopen, maar de exacte prijs blijft geheim. "Wat we wel kunnen zeggen is dat Amsterdam wel duur is in vergelijking met andere steden", vertelt Emiel. Maar dat houdt de filmverzoeken dus niet tegen en de verklaring is logisch. Everything was going well until as part of the overall pre-sale check of the parts. I tried to unscrew the Water Gauge Blowdown Valve and it was very tight. I made a special tool to allow the use of a spanner and when I finally released it. I noticed that the part was made from Mild Steel instead of Stainless Steel. This is no good at all and I machined and threaded a new part using Stainless. In oktober 2023 verdronk de 29-jarige Sam van Grondelle, de oudere broer van Soesja. De intense pijn van haar rouwproces deelt ze sinds vorig jaar op haar sociale media. Nu heeft ze een boek geschreven: Sam ik neem je altijd mee. "Eerst kon ik niks, maar door er over te praten en te schrijven en mijn pijn te delen wordt het iets draaglijker." Het gedenkteken op de Veemkade met altijd verse bloemen en een paar lichtjes herinnert aan de vreselijke gebeurtenis in de nacht van 14 op 15 oktober 2023. De nacht waarin de 29-jarige Sam verdronk in het IJ. Na een avondje stappen met vrienden in het Skatecafé in Noord, raakte Sam vermist. Familie, vrienden en de politie startten een grootschalige zoektocht en verspreidden foto's van hem in de stad.  "Er waren ontiegelijk veel mensen in Amsterdam die hebben gezocht, vertelt zijn jongere zus Soesja van Grondelle. Schrijven over deze onzekere paar dagen vond ze het allermoeilijkste van het hele boek. "Omdat het traumatisch was. Ik vond het zo erg dat hij alleen was en dat hij zou lijden en ik niet bij hem was om dit samen te doorstaan."  Een paar dagen later werd Sams lichaam gevonden in het IJ. Soesja begon een jaar na zijn dood met een vlog op Instagram en TikTok over rouwverwerking, waar duizenden lotgenoten op reageren. Nu is er een boek: Sam ik neem je mee, verder leven na de dood van mijn broer. "Ik ben nu zelf 29, ik vind dat heel ingewikkeld. Soms zeg ik tegen mezelf, dat hij gewoon wel ouder wordt, dat is prettiger voor mezelf.  "Ik wil met het boek de dood bespreekbaar maken", zegt Soesja van Grondelle. "Iedereen heeft in zijn of haar leven met de dood te maken, maar mensen vinden het vaak ongemakkelijk om erover te praten. Ze denken vaak dat ze daarmee juist pijn aanwakkeren. Ik denk daar anders over. Je denkt toch al aan die persoon, dan is het juist fijn als zijn of haar naam genoemd wordt. Minder eenzaam "Als je erover praat voel je vaak minder eenzaam. Ik wil eerlijk en open zijn over mijn rouw en ik denk dat als ik dat doe, dat het makkelijker wordt voor anderen. De pijn gaat nooit weg, maar het helpt wel om erover te praten.
