Witnesses say dozens of masked Israeli settlers armed with clubs, sticks, slingshots and guns hurled rocks at Palestinian farmers, set olive trees ablaze and drove people from their fields. Veteran Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine, a 64-year-old American, was documenting the attack when settlers began beating her. She suffered stab wounds, a broken rib, four broken vertebrae and a severe hand injury. Levine was wearing a clearly marked press vest and a helmet at the time of the attack. According to the Israeli human rights group Yesh Din, Israeli settlers have carried out at least 170 attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since September 27, which marked the start of this year’s olive harvest. Fietsen na zes weken stilstand weggehaald: "Je moet zo'n bakfiets wel gebruiken" Elke dag neemt de gemeente zo'n 350 fietsen in beslag. Een van de oorzaken is het overtreden van de regel dat fietsen niet langer dan zes weken op dezelfde plek mogen staan. Daar is niet iedereen het mee eens, maar er is ook begrip voor de maatregel. Een van de plekken waar veel overlast is door geparkeerde fietsen is De Pijp. AT5 loopt een ochtend mee met handhavers die daar ingrijpen."Het eerste dat je ziet zijn fietsen, fietsen en auto's", vertelt handhaver en leidinggevende Kees. "En dan zijn we op dit stukje Van Ostadestraat al geweest, maar je ziet het, het staat nog steeds vol." De handhavers brengen een markering op de fietsen aan en plakken er na zes weken een label op. Als de markering er daarna nog op zit, wordt de fiets meegenomen. Een bakfiets met drie lekke banden staat volgens Kees al ruim twee maanden stil. De eigenaar komt bij het zien van de handhavers snel naar buiten. Hij zegt dat de fiets kortere tijd stil staat en beweert ook dat zijn fiets slechts een lekke band heeft. "In Amsterdam is het gewoon zo, dat als je langer dan zes weken je fiets niet gebruikt dan wordt ie verwijderd", legt Kees aan hem uit "Het is mooi dat je zo'n bakfiets hebt, maar je moet hem wel gebruiken." De bakfietseigenaar krijgt van Kees nog een week om de bakfiets weer in goede staat te maken en ermee te rijden, anders gaat de bakfiets wel mee. Vijftig meldingen per dag In Noord, Nieuw-West, Weesp en Zuidoost mag je je fiets overigens zo lang laten staan als je wil, als het geen wrak is. De rest wordt door de handhavers minstens twee keer per jaar gecontroleerd, en ze reageren ook op meldingen van Amsterdammers. Kees legt uit dat hij er uit Weesp, Zuid en Zuidoost gemiddeld twintig per dag krijgt. In de hele stad zijn het waarschijnlijk rond de vijftig meldingen per dag. Regels parkeren van fietsen: Centrum, West, Oost en deel Zuid (alles binnen de ring met uitzondering van Noord): maximaal zes weken zonder te gebruiken parkeren op straat. Ook als dat in een fietsenrek is. Stationsgebieden: parkeren in aangewezen gebieden, veelal ondergrondse fietsenstallingen, voor vaak maximaal vier weken. Bij de fietsenrekken bij Station Zuid gaat het om twee weken. Fietsen op straat worden na een uur verwijderd. Fietsen met meer dan drie gebreken worden in de hele stad weggehaald. De weggehaalde fietsen gaan naar het fietsdepot. Willen de eigenaren de fietsen daar halen, betalen ze 26 euro. Ze kunnen de meegenomen fiets ook thuis laten bezorgen, dan kost het 46 euro. We bezoeken Jesse, die nog niet zo lang op de Binnenkadijk woont. Hij heeft namelijk een tijd zonder woning geleefd. Can pine resin have terroir? And could one of Greece's most misunderstood wines be capable of far greater complexity than its reputation suggests? In this episode of Wine With Jimmy, I speak with Greek winemaker and chemical engineer Eleni Kechri of 1979 Wines about the reinvention of Retsina through Assyrtiko, sustainable pine resin harvesting and scientific research. Retsina is a traditional Greek wine made using pine resin during fermentation. Historically associated with simple, inexpensive wines, it is now being explored by producers who see its potential for quality, complexity and ageing. Eleni explains how her research into resin from the Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) has revealed differences in aromatic character depending on where and how the resin is collected. By comparing conventionally harvested resin with sustainably collected resin, she has begun exploring the concept of pine terroir. We also discuss the importance of the base wine. Eleni grows Assyrtiko in her vineyard at Gerakona in Goumenissa, northern Greece, and uses barrel fermentation, lees ageing and bâtonnage to produce wines with the structure and complexity to complement the resin. I taste two fascinating examples from her Kallos range: Kallos Thalassino and Kallos Stergiano. Both are made from Assyrtiko grown in the same vineyard, but use pine resin from different locations. Thalassino uses resin harvested from coastal pine trees in Halkidiki, while Stergiano uses resin from inland trees near Megara in Attica. Het parcours voert vanaf het Olympisch Stadion door het Vondelpark, over de Stadhouderskade en onder het Rijksmuseum door. Daarna rennen de deelnemers via de Beethovenstraat richting de Zuidas, om daarna via de Amsteldijk richting Ouderkerk aan de Amstel te gaan. Van daaruit maken de deelnemers een lus langs de andere kant van de Amstel om uiteindelijk in Oost uit te komen. Daarna komen de lopers via Artis en het Oosterpark terug in het centrum.
