The policy "is deeply illegal, unconstitutional and morally wrong," says Cody Wofsy, deputy director of the ACLU Immigrants' Rights Project. The ACLU is representing all children targeted by Trump's executive order in a class-action lawsuit. Tuincentrum Osdorp stopt in Osdorp en verhuist de stad uit. Het plan is om woningen te bouwen op de plek van het tuincentrum. Officieel is nog niet bekendgemaakt waar het tuincentrum naartoe gaat, maar volgens ingewijden gaat het om Lijnden, het dorp net buiten de stadsgrenzen. Volgende week buigt het college zich nog over het besluit, maar volgens de eigenaar is het bijna zeker dat het tuincentrum vertrekt uit Nieuw-West. Volgens de gemeente vertrekken ze op eigen initiatief. Verder wil Caro Ottenhof, de eigenaresse van het bedrijf, niet inhoudelijk reageren voordat de gemeente de nota heeft goedgekeurd. In dat rapport staat dat op de plek van Tuincentrum Osdorp ruimte is voor de bouw van een stadsbuurt, met zowel woningen als winkels. De gemeente benadrukt dat het tuincentrum op eigen initiatief vertrekt. Op hun terrein, zo'n 4,7 hectare groot, wil de gemeente vanaf 2030 aan de slag. Waar het tuincentrum precies naartoe verhuist, is nog onduidelijk. Vertrouwde plek in de buurt Wel staat vast dat het familiebedrijf in 66 jaar is uitgegroeid tot een vertrouwde plek voor veel Amsterdammers. Het begon ooit als klein hoveniersbedrijf, met eenjarige planten en eigen kweek kamerplanten. Inmiddels verkopen ze ruim 40.000 artikelen en is het een van de grootste tuincentra van Noord-Holland. Het vertrek maakt dan ook een hoop los in de wijk, blijkt uit een rondgang. "Ik vind het niet zo leuk, want het is het enige tuincentrum in de buurt", reageert een oudere mevrouw op het pad voor het hek. "Ik woon hier en ik heb geen auto, dus ik zou niet weten hoe nu verder." "Ik ben hier opgegroeid", zegt een tiener die zeker een paar keer per maand bij het tuincentrum komt, met vrienden of met haar moeder. "Het is een hele leuke plek voor de buurt. Ik denk dat het betekenis heeft. Ook rond kerst, en met de oliebollenkraam. Iedereen komt hier wel." Zo kan je er ook terecht voor allerlei activiteiten, zoals schaatsen, of pompoenen kerven met Halloween, vertelt ze. "Als je thuis zat was het weleens: 'kom we gaan naar het tuincentrum'." Kerstshow en oliebollen Met het vertrek van het tuincentrum verdwijnt ook de jaarlijkse kerstshow uit Osdorp. Die show trekt duizenden mensen, ook van buiten Amsterdam en wordt al in de zomer opgebouwd. "We komen regelmatig bij die kerstshows", zegt een vrouw die samen met haar man op hun e-bikes vanaf Geuzenveld zijn gefietst. "Die tafereeltjes, dorpjes en de ijsbaan. Een restaurant op de Javastraat in Oost is door de Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteit (NVWA) per direct gesloten vanwege een rattenplaag. Er circuleerde online een filmpje waar je ratten in voedselbakken en de frituur ziet lopen, waarna inspecteurs van de dienst meteen zijn gaan kijken. Daar bleken de ratten door het plafond de zaak binnen te komen. Volgens de eigenaar van het restaurant is het een oud pand, waardoor er veel gaten in zitten.Een woordvoerder van de NVWA laat weten dat de inspecteurs toevallig op pad waren toen ze de beelden van het restaurant op de Javastraat tegenkwamen op sociale media. Op dat filmpje was onder meer te zien hoe ratten in eetbakken en over de frituur lopen. Directe inspectie De NVWA heeft de maker van het filmpje gevraagd naar de locatie van het restaurant en is direct gaan kijken. Daar zagen ze met eigen ogen hoe de ratten door de zaak renden en troffen ze veel keutels aan. Ratten vormen een risico voor voedselveiligheid en kunnen ziektes verspreiden. Daarom is het restaurant per direct gesloten. Om weer open te gaan, moet de eigenaar aan een aantal voorwaarden voldoen. Zo moet hij ervoor zorgen dat ongedierte niet meer binnen kan komen en moet alles goed schoon zijn. De eigenaar moet ook een professionele bestrijder inhuren om alles 'ratproof' te maken. Als aan alle voorwaarden wordt voldaan kan hij een nieuwe inspectie aanvragen. De NVWA zal dan beslissen of de zaak weer open mag. Dat de NVWA handelt naar aanleiding van beelden op sociale media is vrij ongebruikelijk. "Dit gebeurt niet vaak", vertelt de woordvoerder. "Maar we moeten echt afgaan op dit soort signalen." Ze laten wel weten zelden dit soort 'extreme situaties' tegen te komen. De eigenaar van het restaurant laat aan AT5 weten dat het gebouw erg oud is. "Daardoor zijn er overal gaten waar ratten doorheen zijn gekomen", vertelt hij. "We zijn nu bezig met het sluiten en opruimen van het restaurant." Wanneer de nieuwe inspectie zal plaatsvinden, is niet bekend. Tuincentrum Osdorp stopt in Osdorp en verhuist de stad uit. Het plan is om woningen te bouwen op de plek van het tuincentrum. Officieel is nog niet bekendgemaakt waar het tuincentrum naartoe gaat, maar volgens ingewijden gaat het om Lijnden, het dorp net buiten de stadsgrenzen. Volgende week buigt het college zich nog over het besluit, maar volgens de eigenaar is het bijna zeker dat het tuincentrum vertrekt uit Nieuw-West. Volgens de gemeente vertrekken ze op eigen initiatief. Verder wil Caro Ottenhof, de eigenaresse van het bedrijf, niet inhoudelijk reageren voordat de gemeente de nota heeft goedgekeurd. In dat rapport staat dat op de plek van Tuincentrum Osdorp ruimte is voor de bouw van een stadsbuurt, met zowel woningen als winkels. De gemeente benadrukt dat het tuincentrum op eigen initiatief vertrekt. Op hun terrein, zo'n 4,7 hectare groot, wil de gemeente vanaf 2030 aan de slag. Waar het tuincentrum precies naartoe verhuist, is nog onduidelijk. Vertrouwde plek in de buurt Wel staat vast dat het familiebedrijf in 66 jaar is uitgegroeid tot een vertrouwde plek voor veel Amsterdammers. Het begon ooit als klein hoveniersbedrijf, met eenjarige planten en eigen kweek kamerplanten. Inmiddels verkopen ze ruim 40.000 artikelen en is het een van de grootste tuincentra van Noord-Holland. Het vertrek maakt dan ook een hoop los in de wijk, blijkt uit een rondgang. "Ik vind het niet zo leuk, want het is het enige tuincentrum in de buurt", reageert een oudere mevrouw op het pad voor het hek. "Ik woon hier en ik heb geen auto, dus ik zou niet weten hoe nu verder." "Ik ben hier opgegroeid", zegt een tiener die zeker een paar keer per maand bij het tuincentrum komt, met vrienden of met haar moeder. "Het is een hele leuke plek voor de buurt. Ik denk dat het betekenis heeft. Ook rond kerst, en met de oliebollenkraam. Iedereen komt hier wel." Zo kan je er ook terecht voor allerlei activiteiten, zoals schaatsen, of pompoenen kerven met Halloween, vertelt ze. "Als je thuis zat was het weleens: 'kom we gaan naar het tuincentrum'." Kerstshow en oliebollen Met het vertrek van het tuincentrum verdwijnt ook de jaarlijkse kerstshow uit Osdorp. Die show trekt duizenden mensen, ook van buiten Amsterdam en wordt al in de zomer opgebouwd. "We komen regelmatig bij die kerstshows", zegt een vrouw die samen met haar man op hun e-bikes vanaf Geuzenveld zijn gefietst. "Die tafereeltjes, dorpjes en de ijsbaan. Schiphol is een van de drukste luchthavens van Europa. Dat gaat niet zonder protest. Omwonenden klagen al lange tijd over geluidsoverlast en gezondheidszorgen. Ook de gemeente, zelf aandeelhouder van de luchthaven, pleit inmiddels voor een krimp van het aantal vluchten. Dat was 100 jaar geleden heel anders. Toen werd Schiphol gekocht door de gemeente Amsterdam van het Ministerie van Oorlog. Het moest het visistekaartje van de stad worden. Van een drassig stuk weiland in 1916 tot een van de drukste luchthavens in Europa: het moest het visitekaartje worden van Amsterdam, en dat lijkt redelijk gelukt. In 1926 - op woensdag 1 april, deze week precies 100 jaar geleden - nam Amsterdam luchthaven Schiphol over van het toenmalige ministerie van Oorlog. Robert Lagendijk heeft als Heritage Officer onder meer het archief van Schiphol onder zijn hoede. Op zijn kantoor in het hoofdgebouw van de luchthaven trekt hij een jas van een kledingrek. "Kijk, dit is een jasje dat vroeger door de havendienst werd gebruikt. Het komt ergens uit de jaren 50, met daarop nog het oude Schiphol-logo." Wat hij niet op zijn kantoor heeft liggen, maar wel op zijn computer kan laten zien: het document waarmee het Rijk de luchthaven Schiphol overdraagt aan de gemeente Amsterdam. Hij leest voor: 'Bij raadsbesluit van 25 december 1925 wordt door publieke werken een krediet van 1 miljoen en 55 duizend gulden toegestaan ter verbetering en verdere inrichting van de luchthaven Schiphol. En dat vanaf 1 april 1926 het beheer van de luchthaven valt onder de Directie der Handelsinrichtingen van de gemeente Amsterdam'. In september 1916 landden de eerste militaire vliegtuigen op een drassig weiland, praktisch tussen de boerderijen en koeien in de Haarlemmermeer. Dat was toen nog bekend als Vliegkamp Schiphol, of, zo zegt Lagendijk: "Badplaats Schiphol, zo drassig was het. De vliegtuigen zakten ook weg." De Eerste Wereldoorlog was aan de gang, maar Nederland was neutraal, en de militaire functie verdween al snel. Lagendijk: "De oorlog was voorbij, het postvervoer nam toe, het goederenvervoer nam toe, en vanaf 1920 neemt de burgerluchtvaart toe." 1920 is het jaar dat KLM de eerste lijndienst tussen Amsterdam en Londen start. In dat jaar werden er 440 passagiers vervoerd. In 1926 wordt Schiphol dus gekocht door de gemeente Amsterdam. Voormalig vliegenier Jan Dellaert (1883-1960) wordt aangesteld als havenmeester. Hij betrekt een woning die praktisch op de luchthaven ligt. Lagendijk: "Dellaert liep 's avonds nog met een bezem over het terrein het aan te harken. En hij maakte praatjes met de buren, zorgde dat het er allemaal goed bij lag." Vanaf 1926 gaat het hard. Er wordt een betonnen platform aangelegd en de toegangswegen worden verbeterd. "Op een gegeven moment dienen ook de Olympische Spelen van 1928 zich aan," vertelt Lagendijk. "Ze denken dat de luchthaven ook een soort visitekaartje van de stad kan worden." Hij wijst op een foto: "Dit stationsgebouw is speciaal voor de Olympische Spelen gebouwd. Koningin Wilhelmina komt op bezoek, en hier links staat Jan Dellaert. Een bijzonder plaatje." Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog nemen de Duitsers de luchthaven over en breiden het patroon van landingsbanen uit. De geallieerden bombarderen de luchthaven regelmatig, en vlak voordat ze zich moeten terugtrekken, aan het einde van de oorlog, vernielen de Duitsers Schiphol nog meer. Maar het duurt niet lang voordat het vliegverkeer weer op gang komt. Schiphol blijft vanaf dat moment groeien en groeien. Lagendijk pakt er een kaart bij. "Dit is een onderzoek dat havenmeester Jan Dellaert vlak na de Tweede Wereldoorlog heeft gedaan. Hij verkent de mogelijkheden voor een nieuwe luchthaven; de mogelijkheden om Schiphol, dat tot de Tweede Wereldoorlog aan de rand lag bij Amstelveen, te verplaatsen naar waar de luchthaven nu ligt.
