Over the course of the trials, documents revealed that tech companies were well aware of the addictive properties of their social media products and exploited these properties to increase their profits. "They take advantage of the undeveloped frontal cortex of young people and their emotional need for validation by showing them things, not that they want to see, but what they can't look away from," says attorney Matthew P. Bergman, who represented the plaintiffs in the California case. Youth advocate Zamaan Qureshi, who testified in the New Mexico case against Meta, says the verdicts indicate that "Meta's house of cards is falling, and it is absolutely clear that they will be held accountable." Car accidents where a vehicle is submerged in water or erupts into deadly flame are rare. But a simple tool to break your own car window could be life-saving in such an emergency. The only catch: not all car windows are created equal.    This week, Rosie talks to Wirecutter editor and emergency preparedness expert Jen Gushue about the high-stakes world of car glass breakers. Jen enlisted a firefighter to help smash dozens of real car windows to find out which tools actually work when put to the test on different types of glass.    This episode covers:  • The difference between tempered and laminated glass: Traditional tempered glass is designed to shatter into small, dull pieces for safety, while modern laminated glass consists of a plastic interlayer sandwiched between two glass sheets. Toeristen ontwijken, sneeuw, hagel, regen en wind. Het was geen 'walk in the park' voor hardloper Bas Jacob. Uitdagend en bijzonder, want hij volbracht vandaag een marathon voor het goede doel. "Ik rende om geld op te halen voor de FSHD-stichting", legt hij na afloop uit. "Toen ik op zoek was naar een stichting om hier geld voor in te zamelen, toen kwam een collega van mij ermee die dit erg aan het hart gaat." Voor hem reden genoeg om aan de loop te beginnen en hij kreeg steun van vrienden en zijn partner. "Bij elk rondje gaan we met een wave met zijn allen hem supporten en hij gaat door regen, zon en door wind", vertelt zijn vriendin Coco Padding. "En volgens mij doet hij het nog goed."
