Savoury version 2 slices hot cross bun Shokupan 3 slices leg ham 3 slices swiss cheese 1 tbs kewpie mayonnaise ⅓ cup grated mozzarella cheese 1 egg Sea salt and cracked pepper, to season Top one slice of Shokupan with the ham slices, then cheese slices. Make an indent in the centre of the other slice of Shokupan, large enough to cradle the egg. Spread the indented slice with mayonnaise, then place on top of the cheese and ham. Transfer the sandwich to an oven tray lined with baking paper. Carefully crack the egg into the indent on top, then place the mozzarella around the edges of the egg. Season with salt and pepper. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C fan forced (320°F) for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is golden and the egg white is just set. Serve hot and enjoy! S’mores version 20g butter 2 slices hot cross bun Shokupan 3 giant marshmallows 4 small solid chocolate easter eggs 1 medium size cream filled egg Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook the Shokupan slices for 1 minute on each side until golden. Transfer to an oven tray lined with baking paper. Slice the marshmallows into 1cm thick slices. Cover 1 slice of the bread with the marshmallow and then top with the solid eggs. Cover the other slice, leaving a space in the middle, then place the cream filled egg in the centre. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C fan forced (355°F) for 5 minutes, until the marshmallow starts to brown. Carefully transfer the cream filled egg slice on top of the other slice and serve!

Gen Z men hold more traditional views on gender roles than previous generations, in some matters. This was concluded by a recent survey conducted by the Ipsos Institute for International Women’s Day. Europe is no exception: 18.7% of Gen Z men, for example, believe that women should always obey their husbands—nearly four times as many as in the baby boomer generation. For other matters, the opposite is true: While nearly 36% of Gen Z men in Europe identify as feminists, only about 30% of baby boomers do. We asked Gen Z men in Berlin to see whether they align with the study’s respondents—or if they hold different views. We also wanted to know how they define their own role on the matter of gender equality. One last note on the survey: The data on European Gen Z that we requested from the IPSOS research team covers Belgium, France, Germany, the UK, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey. Elk dag wat schrijven over een schilderij van George Hendrik Breitner, en dat een heel jaar lang. Schrijver en columnist Nico Dijkshoorn heeft zich gestort op het doek De Singelbrug, geschilderd in 1896, een winters tafereel van de brug over het Singel bij de Paleisstraat. En hoewel hij eigenlijk nog maar net bezig is, kijkt hij nu al met verachting naar de geschilderde personages. "Ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik al een zekere pleurishekel aan het ontwikkelen ben voor alle mensen op dat schilderij." Het is één van de mooiste schilderijen in het Rijksmuseum, vindt schrijver en columnist Nico Dijkshoorn: De Singelbrug van Breitner. "Wat je ziet, is gewoon een aantal mensen, een hond en een kind, die over een brug heenlopen. En in zijn 'gewoonheid vond ik het verpletterend'. Zo hoor je dat te zeggen, hè? Als je in de kunstwereld actief bent." Eind vorig jaar besloot Dijkshoorn om elke dag een column te schrijven over het schilderij. Een jaar lang, dus 365 stukjes in totaal. "Ik ben er nu al meer dan 70 dagen over aan het schrijven, en moet ook wel eerlijk bekennen dat ik inmiddels een zekere pleurishekel aan het ontwikkelen ben voor alle mensen op dat schilderij." Hij kan er gelukkig nog wel om lachen. "Ik wil niet iemand zijn die een schilderij uitlegt. Daar heb ik gewoon zo'n ontzettende hekel aan." Dijkshoorn fantaseert er liever op los. "Is die hond van die twee mensen, of is hij gewoon aan het wachten tot hij de muts van dat kind van het hoofd kan scheuren met zijn tanden? Zo kan je blijven fantaseren." Kutmuts Over de muts die het kind draagt: "Daar heb ik volgens mij al twee of drie keer over geschreven, over die muts. Dat je op bed ligt en weet, ik moet morgen met deze kutmuts op mijn hoofd het schoolplein oplopen. En dan houdt niemand meer van me." Of over de drie balkonnetjes op de hoek: "Dat is goud voor mij. Daar kan ik een hele wereld achter bedenken. Een man die helemaal sufgeneukt in zijn onderbroek, hier met duizenden mensen op straat met Koninginnedag, eventjes op dat balkonnetje komt staan en weer naar binnengaat. Zoiets." Dijkshoorn zoekt op zijn telefoon één van zijn columns op. Deze gaat over de paarden die op het schilderij van Breitner te zien zijn. Hij leest voor: 16 februari Ik zie opeens nog een paard, iets verderop de straat. Ik ben vanaf nu heel erg voor meer paarden in de stad. Gewoon een stuk of zes loslaten bij het Centraal Station en kijken wat er gebeurt. Vier mensen bij een bushalte en opeens een paard naast ze. Snuffelend aan het hoofd van een kale man. Geen hoedje te bekennen. Op een gegeven moment gaan mensen aan die paarden wennen. Drie in galop door een volle winkelstraat. Als er mensen gaan klagen lul er dan maar een verhaal omheen, dat je natuur en de stad in een volmaakte symbiose laat samenleven. De nachten worden ook spannender en mooier. In je bed liggen en dan een paard door de straat horen lopen. Twee neukende paarden naast een kinderdagverblijf. Een paard in de rij bij de Vietnamese loempiaverkoper. Een paard ziet vlees hangen in een slager. Het moet voelen alsof wij onze oma aan een haak zien hangen. "Misschien wil later wel wat meer de diepte in, maar dit is waar ik van hou. Ik dacht dat het me zou ontroeren, maar ik schrijf voor driekwart over mijn moeder, mijn vader." Dijkshoorn is een groot bewonderaar van Breitner. Maar dat was niet zijn belangrijkste drijfveer voor het schrijven van 365 stukjes over De Singelbrug. "Het is vooral omdat schrijvers - laat je niets wijsmaken door mensen die zeggen dat ze 9 uur achter een bureau zitten - geen reet te doen hebben. Ik schrijf iets van 8 columns per week, en dan treed ik ook nog op en zo, en dan nog zit ik me dood te vervelen. Zo direct ga ik een beetje door Amsterdam heen wandelen. Ik denk wat Breitner ook deed, en dat vind ik ook wel een prettige invalshoek. Dat ik met dat schilderij mag doen wat ik wil." Breitner was een van de eerste schilders die een foto nam van wat hij wilde schilderen. Zo schilderde hij ook de Singelbrug aan de hand van een foto.
