Het 'Schoonmaakspektakel' is een van de vele initiatieven van de bedrijveninvesteringszones (BIZ'en). Ondernemers én pandeigenaren in de Kalverstraat, Heiligeweg, Koningsplein, Leidsestraat en het Rokin zetten zich voortdurend in voor een zo aantrekkelijk, kwalitatief en leefbaar mogelijk winkelgebied. It’s essentially a manual transmission with a clutch and gears and synchros. But there’s no clutch pedal. Instead there’s motors and servos that do the clutching and declutching and the shifting And these motors are controlled by an ECU. This is a car that is incredibly fun to drive but that driving experience is sadly sometimes ruined by the clumsy and slow shifting. So I thought that I could remap the ECU to improve the shifting and also make a bit more power in the process. Now, I have installed a standalone ECU in the past and I have written VE, target afr, ignition, boost control and other maps from scratch. So I thought, hey, how hard can it be to just modify existing factory maps? I’ll just do a bit of research, buy some basic tools to tap into it, i’ll find the right maps and then I’ll just change the values myself. How hard can it be? So once I got my tools the first step was to actually read the data from my ECU so that I could modify it. After doing some initial research online I have found that to remap an ECU myself I will need at a bare minimum these three tools. 1. Old Windows 7 Laptop 2. Car battery charger 3. MPPS ECU flashing tool The process goes like this. We read what's on the ECU, we then modify that and then we write back the tuned map onto the ECU. To read ECU data you first need hookup your car battery to a charger. This is needed because it keeps the voltage stable. If the voltage goes below 12 volts while remapping an ECU you risk bricking your ECU. Next up you need to locate the OBD port and plug the MPPS into the OBD port. Next plug the laptop in and connect the mpps to the laptop. Install the drivers and open the MPPS software. Unfortunately not all ECUs can be read, in many cases there are special protections that the MPPS system cannot bypass. So what I did instead is that I searched online and eventually found an original improved shifting map on the forums. I then opened it in Winols and later in TunerPro and tried to find the right maps to modified. Eventually I gave up and bough a tuned file online just to see what was modified. This file then ended up bricking my ECU. After this I had to figure out how to put it in boot mode with MPPS in order to restore the ECU and bring it back to life. After figuring that out I decided to see what was modified in the tuned map. Only 9 maps. Ultimately I found a specialist for my platform that remote flashed my ECU with his original map which I also inspected to find 69 modified maps. Back in the day of the carburetor tuning required an actual physical and sensory connection with the machine. You used your hands and basic tools to tune a carburetor. You would turn screws to change the amount of fuel coming into the engine. You would twist the distributor with your hands to set ignition timing. The machine was built and adapted to human capabilities. But with the advent of electronic fuel injection the word tuning gained another meaning. To tune a modern machine we must adapt ourselves to it. We need to be able to read, interpret and write its language. The physical and sensory connection is no longer a part of the tuning experience, now we change numbers in a table while sitting at a computer. Tuning can be done remotely, you can increase the horsepower of a car or motorcycle on the other end of the world. This is very illustrative of the increasingly digitlazed reality we live in. Renovating A Sweet Pea Locomotive Built In 1987 - Part #12. I repainted the front and rear Buffer Beams off Camera , using Phoenix Precision Paints Buffer Beam Red applied with a brush. I wanted the engine to look like it would if it was a full size engine - not perfect. After two coats of paint on the Buffer Beams it looks good to me. I also fitted the buffers off Camera as all you could see were my hands. They are now in the correct position and the springs within the stocks work fine. I show the fitting of the front panel and bolt it in place. Een vierdelige documentaire over Johan Cruijff gaat vanavond in de Arena in première. Voor de eerste vertoning zijn al zeker 40.000 kaartjes verkocht. De organisatie hoopt op zeker 43.000 duizend: dat zou betekenen dat de première in het Guinness Book of World records komt.  Dinsdag is het exact tien jaar geleden dat Cruijff overleed. Hij wordt door veel mensen beschouwd als één van de beste en invloedrijkste voetballers ooit. Hij was succesvol als trainer én speler bij onder meer Ajax en FC Barcelona. Bij beide clubs wordt hij nog altijd gezien legende. Met het Nederlands Elftal verloor Cruijff de finale van het WK, maar de (toen nog typisch Nederlandse) aanvallende voetbalstijl veroverde de harten van fans over de hele wereld. Later werd Cruijff ook succesvol als trainer. Eerst bij Ajax en later jarenlang bij Barcelona. Cruijff introduceerde bij Barcelona dezelfde aanvallende speelstijl die hij bij Ajax gewend was, iets wat later door een van zijn pupillen, Pep Guardiola, geperfectioneerd werd. Guardiola, die zelf uitgroeide tot een van de meest succesvolle trainers aller tijden, is een van de voetbalprominenten die tijdens de documentaire aan het woord komt. In de trailer is ook te zien dat oud-voetballers als Xavi en Ruud Gullit geinterviewd zijn. De documentaire, die met inspraak van de familie van Cruijff is gemaakt, bevat uiteraard ook veel beeldmateriaal van Cruijff zelf. Volgens de documentaires zitten er veel fragmenten in die nog nooit eerder vertoond zijn. Bij de premiere in de arena wordt de documentaire op 14 schermen getoond. De gezamelijke oppervlakte van die schermen is 852 m2.  De organisatie hoopt speciaal voor de gelegenheid een record te verbreken voor grootste publieksopkomst voor een première ooit. In contemporary physics, the parts are the teeming world of particle physics, and these should make up the cosmological world of the universe as a whole and the overall framework of Einsteinian space-time. But as yet we have not been able to combine the two coherently. Is looking at the universe from the small scale and the large always going to be incompatible? Does it mean a theory of everything is an illusion and the attempt to combine quantum mechanics and Einstein’s general relativity a forlorn project? De brandweer is nog tot diep in de nacht bezig geweest met slopen en nablussen. Stichting Salvage is nu aan zet om de schade te onderzoeken. De brandweer kreeg gisteren rond 15.00 uur de eerste melding binnen over elektrische deelscooters die in brand stonden op de Nieuwe Hemweg. Al snel sloegen de metershoge vlammen over naar een nabijgelegen opslagloods. De gigantische zwarte rookpluim die daardoor ontstond, was zowel binnen als buiten de stad goed te zien: AT5 kreeg zelfs beelden uit Rotterdam, IJmuiden en Utrecht. Vanwege de rook waarschuwde de brandweer bewoners van West, Nieuw-West en Centrum via een NL-Alert om ramen en deuren te sluiten en ventilatie uit te schakelen. Iedereen in gebouwen op en rond het industrieterrein werd opgeroepen om binnen te blijven. Niemand raakte gewond. Vanwege de omvang van de brand was er volgens een woordvoerder van de brandweer 'amper tegenop te spuiten'. Daarom is al snel besloten om het pand gecontroleerd te laten uitbranden en te voorkomen dat het vuur zou overslaan naar andere panden. Om dichter bij de brandhaard te komen, zijn grote delen van het pand gesloopt. De operatie duurde nog tot diep in de nacht. Aggressive war is the supreme international crime. So why does it only apply to the defeated? In this video, I examine the film and new streaming series Nuremberg (starring Russell Crowe as Hermann Göring), and use it as a starting point for a much bigger historical question — one the film gestures toward but never confronts. At Nuremberg in 1945, Justice Robert Jackson declared that wars of aggression contain within themselves the accumulated evil of all the crimes that follow. That principle was enshrined in international law. It was applied again — selectively — at the neglected Tokyo trials of 1946–48. And it has never once been applied to the most prolific wager of aggressive war since 1945. It traces the history and development of the canal from its origin and opening in 1825 to the modern era. The Erie Canal, completed in 1825, was a 363-mile waterway that connected the Hudson River to Lake Erie, linking the Atlantic Ocean with the Great Lakes. Considered an engineering marvel of its time, the canal was largely built by hand and featured 83 locks and 18 aqueducts to overcome elevation changes and natural obstacles. Though initially mocked as "Clinton’s Folly," it proved to be a major economic success by dramatically reducing shipping time and costs. It stimulated the growth of towns along its route, helped make New York City a leading seaport, and sparked a nationwide canal-building boom. While most other canals failed, the Erie Canal remained profitable for decades, later becoming part of the New York State Barge Canal system. It began as the "Old Roman Symbol"—a tripartite baptismal interrogation—and reached its final, standardized form during the Carolingian Empire under Charlemagne. Rather than a static artifact of the 1st century, the Creed is an organic "living memory" that preserves the apostolic rule of faith as it migrated and grew through the early Church.
