Makelaar Michiel (55) en zijn kater Lex wonen aan ‘t Koningsplein. Beneden een drukke plek, maar boven verrassend stil. Hij woont in het voormalige atelier van warenhuis “Nieuw Engeland” dat er tussen 1899 en medio 1980 zat. Om zijn appartement te bereiken ga je via een chic portaal naar binnen. Hier zat ooit de chocolaterie van J. Bruin, totdat deze in 1936 afbrandde. Bij de renovatie van het Koningsplein liet architect Kees Doornenbal dat historische pandje herbouwen. Tegenwoordig dient het als toegang en trappenhuis voor alle woningen die hier boven de winkels zijn gecreëerd. De binnentuin is ‘s zomers een oase van rust door al ‘t groen, en dat midden in ‘t centrum! Volgens Michiel voelt wonen hier als leven in een museum. Vanuit zijn huis kijkt hij uit over de stad, waar elk gebouw z’n eigen geschiedenis heeft. Geen dag is het uitzicht hetzelfde. De zonsopgang is hier net een film en als ’s avonds de lichtjes in de straten aangaan, ontstaat er een magisch tafereel. Michiel voelt zich bevoorrecht om hier te mogen wonen. Het uitzicht, de historie, de stilte tussen de geluiden. Samen met Lex geniet hij hier elke dag opnieuw van onze stad. Wij zijn FC Centrum, een FanClub voor onze oude binnenstad. Alle stemmen zijn geteld en GroenLinks is de grootste partij van de stad geworden met 10 zetels. De partij wordt door D66 en PvdA gevolgd met respectievelijk 8 en 7 zetels. De PvdA verliest nog wel een zetel ten opzichte van gisteravond, terwijl de VVD er juist eentje extra wint. Over het algemeen verandert de gemeenteraad vrij weinig in vergelijking met de uitslag van 2022. Zo zijn er geen nieuwe partijen die een zetel hebben gehaald. De definitieve uitslag komt komende zaterdag. Volgens deze uitslag heeft GroenLinks 17,9 procent van de stemmen, goed voor tien zetels. D66 en PvdA volgen de partij met acht en zeven zetels. D66, dat een zetel is gestegen, kreeg 16,1 procent van de stemmen en was daarmee de op één na grootste partij. De PvdA wist 14,1 procent van de stemmen te bemachtigen, maar verliest wel twee zetels. Gisteren vierden de drie partijen al feest tijdens de uitslagenavond. GroenLinks en PvdA deden dat gezamenlijk, want ze gaan als één partij de raad in. "Een derde van de stad heeft op ons gestemd", telde PvdA-lijsttrekker Sofyan Mbarki al gezamenlijk op gisteren. Mbarki stond samen met GroenLinks-lijsttrekker Zita Pels juichend op het podium. "Amsterdam was links, is links en zal links blijven!" Ook bij D66 was de sfeer goed en lijsttrekker Melanie van der Horst was 'waanzinnig blij' met de tweede plek. "Wij zijn gegroeid als dit waar is. Dat betekent dat wij met ons optimisme de stad nog meer vooruit kunnen duwen." Van der Horst wilde ook graag in onderhandeling met GroenLinks en de PvdA om opnieuw gezamenlijk een coalitie te vormen. Weinig verandering in de oppositie Waar in de huidige coalitie de zetels elkaar enigszins afwisselen, verandert er in de huidige oppositie vrij weinig. De VVD heeft zes zetels weten te bemachtigen, eentje meer, en kreeg 10,9 procent van de stemmen. Ook de Partij voor de Dieren (2), JA21 (2), Volt (2), Denk (2), CDA (1) en FvD (1) hebben hetzelfde aantal zetels behaald als tijdens de verkiezingen in 2022. De SP en BIJ1 verloren in vergelijking met 2022 allebei een zetel. De SP staat daardoor nu op 1. BIJ1 heeft twee zetels, maar ging de verkiezingen in met nul zetels. De partij kreeg weliswaar drie zetels in 2022, maar verloor deze toen de raadsleden afsplitsten van de partij. Disinformation has been a major problem in Europe, particularly since Russia’s war against Ukraine. In some cases, it is deliberately used to bolster Russia’s war effort. On social media, it can then often spread unchecked. Diana Șoșoacă is also contributing to this.
