Een hoornraaf in Artis heeft een bijzondere upgrade gekregen: twee nieuwe snavelprotheses uit de 3D-printer. Na maanden met twee korte snavelstompjes kan de vogel weer eten oppakken en zijn veren verzorgen. Voor zover bekend is het wereldwijd de eerste keer dat bij een vogel beide snavels op deze manier zijn hersteld. De zuidelijke hoornraaf kan weer eten oppakken en zijn veren verzorgen dankzij de nieuwe protheses. De vogel liep voorheen rond met twee korte snavelstompjes, waardoor hij een deel van zijn natuurlijke gedrag niet meer kon uitvoeren. Specialisten van de Universiteit Utrecht en het UMC Utrecht maakten de protheses op maat. Een succesvolle operatie Na de operatie bleek al snel dat de vogel ermee overweg kon. Hij ving vrijwel direct een muisje met medicatie op. “Hij kan ook weer insecten oprapen met zijn snavel en dat kon hij daarvoor niet, want hij had echt twee stompjes”, vertelt dierverzorger Brent Hoeve van Artis. De nieuwe snavel helpt de hoornraaf ook bij het verzorgen van zijn verenkleed en het poetsen van zijn partner en dochter. Bij de plek waar gisteren het lichaam van de 29-jarige Hajar werd gevonden, hebben buurtbewoners vandaag bloemen neergelegd. De vondst van het lichaam maakt grote indruk op hen. Een van de buurtbewoners vertelt dat ze er woest door is. "Ik heb er niet eens woorden voor. Wat geeft je het recht om dit te doen. Ik krijg er kippenvel van." "Ik ben in shock", zegt een ander. "Ik vind het verschrikkelijk, dat het leven van zo'n jonge vrouw is genomen." Het slachtoffer was bijna twee weken vermist. De familie van het slachtoffer heeft vanmiddag via de organisatie Namens de Familie gereageerd. De familieleden laten weten dat de grote onzekerheid tijdens haar vermissing nu plaats heeft gemaakt voor verdriet en rouw. "De familie is aangeslagen en verdrietig door de ontwikkelingen de afgelopen dagen", meldt Namens de Familie. "Een vermissing van een geliefde is slopend, de onzekerheid is zwaar geweest." De familie laat verder weten in alle rust en anonimiteit te willen rouwen en afscheid van Hajar te willen nemen. Urenlang onderzoek Vier agenten haalden gisterochtend een zwarte reiskoffer uit het water. Vermoedelijk was de politie even daarvoor gebeld door een man die zijn hond uitliet. Rechercheurs en forensisch rechercheurs deden daarna urenlang onderzoek. In de avond liet de politie weten een lichaam te hebben aangetroffen in het water. De politie gaat ervan uit dat de 29-jarige vrouw door een misdrijf om het leven is gekomen. Hajar was zondag 4 oktober voor het laatst gezien. Ze vertrok toen met een onbekende fietsende man vanaf de omgeving van de Rai in de richting van Buitenveldert. De politie heeft aan omwonenden van de Amsteldijk ter hoogte van het Martin Luther Kingpark gevraagd of zij de afgelopen weken iets verdachts hebben gezien met een koffer. Op die plek werd gisteren het lichaam van de vermiste 29-jarige Hajar aangetroffen. De politie gaat ervan uit dat ze door een misdrijf om het leven is gekomen. AT5 heeft beelden van de buurtapp gezien waarin een buurtbewoner een bericht stuurt dat er is gevraagd of buurtbewoners contact op willen nemen met de politie als ze tussen 4 oktober en gisteren een verdachte situatie met een koffer hebben gezien. De politie zelf kan op dit moment niet bevestigen dat zij onderzoek doen naar een koffer in de zaak. Voor de politie is het nog niet duidelijk wat haar precies is overkomen en hoe en waar zij om het leven is gekomen. Buurtbewoners zeggen ook tegen De Telegraaf dat ze mogelijk in een koffer lag die in het water zou zijn gedumpt en gevonden is door een voorbijganger. Ook dat kan de politie niet bevestigen. De politie doet wel een oproep voor meer informatie over het misdrijf. Mensen die meer weten, de afgelopen weken iets geks hebben gezien of gehoord, worden gevraagd om contact op te nemen met de politie. Hajar is op zondag 4 oktober voor het laatst in leven gezien in de buurt van de Rai in Zuid.
