Amsterdam heeft er weer een nieuw museum bij. Geen groot gebouw vol schilderijen, maar een wereld in het klein: een Miniatuurmuseum waarin bekende plekken uit de stad tot in detail zijn nagemaakt. De Wallen, het Vondelpark en zelfs de Henk Sneevlietweg zijn er te zien. Initiatiefnemer Lauretta Gerards, werkt samen met haar broer in het museum: “Mijn broer Jan heeft het Suriname Museum gebouwd. Toen is hij in contact gekomen met Miniworld Rotterdam, zij hebben de maquette voor dat museum gemaakt. Toen dacht hij: dit moet ook in Amsterdam. Dat is er nog niet en dat moet gebeuren. Sindsdien bundelen we onze krachten.” Toch bestaan er al miniatuurversies van de stad. Zo is er een mini-Amsterdam te zien bij Amsterdam in Motion en zijn er verschillende maquettes van de stad te vinden. Waarom was een nieuw miniatuurmuseum dan toch nodig? Volgens Lauretta zit het verschil in de details en de beleving. “Bij ons zie je echt details en verhalen. Het is interactief: je drukt op een knopje en dan zie je bijvoorbeeld een paardje bewegen of hoor je geluid. Er zit veel beleving in. Daarnaast vertellen we ook de geschiedenis van het stukje stad dat je ziet.” Dat kleine formaat maakt het soms wel lastig om overal van af te blijven. Niet iedereen kan de verleiding weerstaan om de miniatuurstad even aan te raken. Lauretta: “Daarom staan deze palen hier ook. Toen ik hier voor het eerst kwam dacht ik meteen: we moeten palen neerzetten, want ik wil het zelf ook allemaal aanraken. Dat is wel nog een dingetje.” Het museum is sinds deze week geopend. Sommige automobilisten rijden speciaal naar Duivendrecht om daar zo goedkoop mogelijk te tanken. Bij een pompstation in Duivendrecht, in de buurt van de Van der Madeweg en de Spaklerweg, lag de prijs vandaag rond de 2,10 euro per liter. De laagste prijs in Amsterdam en omstreken, en dus rijden veel automobilisten ervoor om. "Met de prijzen van nu moet ik wel", zegt een vrouw die we bij het tankstation spreken. "Ik laat hem nu al staan als het niet nodig is. Bijvoorbeeld met boodschappen, of op de fiets, dan maar zo." "Het is niet te doen, hè", zegt een andere vrouw. "Ik woon toevallig in de buurt, maar een vriendin van mij komt uit West en die rijdt hier ook helemaal naartoe." "Je moet echt goed nadenken of je de auto gaat gebruiken nu", zegt de vrouw. "Ik vind 2 euro per liter eigenlijk al te duur. Met de toestanden in de wereld zie ik het alleen maar duurder worden. Dus we moeten denk ik goed nadenken over hoe we gaan leven." 'Wat moet je dan?' Veel mensen die we spreken, kijken enigszins gelaten naar de prijsstijgingen. "Gezien de omstandigheden is het logisch", zegt een man. "Ik ben er ook niet blij mee, niemand is er blij mee.
