De bewoners van zeker twee woningen aan de Willem de Zwijgerlaan moesten vanochtend hun huis uit. Op de bovenste verdieping of het dak van het pand brak brand uit. Niemand raakte daarbij gewond. De eerste melding van de brand kwam rond 09.00 uur binnen bij de brandweer. Een man die op de derde verdieping van het pand woont, vlak onder de zolderverdieping, vertelt dat hij lag te slapen. Hij had er net een nachtdienst op had zitten. "Ik lag te slapen en ik werd wakker van een paar knallen. Mijn hele plafond trilde. Ik dacht bij mezelf: waar ben ik nou in beland?" Oorzaak nog onbekend Of die knallen voorafgingen aan de brand, of dat er iets ontplofte door de brand, kan de brandweer niet zeggen. De oorzaak van de brand wordt nog onderzocht. Niemand raakte gewond, wel moesten zeker twee woningen worden ontruimd. "De brandweerman heeft mij en mijn dochter geholpen. Ik heb nog een paar spullen kunnen meenemen. Ik schrok er best wel van, eigenlijk zit de schrik er nog steeds in", zegt de bewoner. Rond 10.00 uur was de brand geblust en gingen de Jan van Galenstraat en een deel van de Willem de Zwijgerlaan weer open voor verkeer. Ook Betondorp ontkomt er niet aan: net als in andere delen van de stad is er ook in de voormalige arbeiderswijk in Oost sprake van stevige speculatie op de huizenmarkt. Er staat nu een pand te koop voor een ongekend bedrag: 2.950.000 euro. Met onze dure-huizen-expert Erik Rezelman namen we een kijkje. "Het is een beetje groot – namelijk 327 vierkante meter – en een beetje duur: bijna 3 miljoen euro, maar het is uniek", zegt Rezelman voor het pand aan de Zaaiersweg, randje Betondorp. Het gaat om de benedenverdieping van een 100 jaar oud schoolgebouw aan de noordwestkant van Betondorp, met uitzicht op begraafplaats De Nieuwe Ooster. De huidige bewoners kochten het pand twintig jaar geleden voor bijna een miljoen en zetten het nu voor het driedubbele te koop. "Flinke prijsstijging, maar marktconform", zegt Rezelman. "Maar 3 miljoen is echt wel heel veel geld." Bewoners van Betondorp kunnen hun oren nauwelijks geloven. "7 ton? 9 ton? Wat, 3 miljoen? Dat is wel heel veel", zegt een mevrouw die even verderop woont. Een man die langsfietst staat er wat minder van te kijken. "Mogen hier geen rijke mensen wonen dan? Het is wat het is; mensen speculeren ook hier met huizen." "De woning is heel erg groot voor Amsterdamse begrippen", zegt Rezelman. "Toen Johan Cruijff hier om de hoek woonde, was het een arme arbeiderswijk", vertelt Rezelman. Ik heb uitgerekend dat Cruijff nooit 6 miljoen gulden verdiend heeft in Nederland en nu is dit huis al 3 miljoen." De nostalgie ten spijt: Cruijff heeft hier overigens nooit op school gezeten. "Hij zat op een andere, een christelijke school even verderop, de Groen van Prinstererschool. "Maar we hebben hier wel vaak samen gevoetbald", vertelt de 80-jarige Dirk Bakker, die vandaag een rondje door zijn oude wijk fietst. "Ik zat hier in dit pand op school, ja. Verder waren er alleen maar kleine huisjes van 50 vierkante meter en daar woonden hele gezinnen. Maar we voetbalden vaak buiten en waren hier dolgelukkig. Het is een mooie wijk; ik kan me wel voorstellen dat mensen hier willen wonen. Maar drie miljoen? Nee, ik ben sowieso tegen huizenbezit." Op de vraag of de vraagprijs van de woning is opgedreven door het feit dat hier de geboortegrond van Cruijff ligt, is Rezelman duidelijk. "Ik denk het wel. Maar het is marktconform, want het is tussen de 9000 en 10.000 euro per vierkante meter en dat wordt betaald in Amsterdam. Bij de Westermarkt en Weesperplein hangen campagneposters met opvallende teksten zoals: "Meer Tiktokrijen" namens Volt of "Meer Nutella-winkels" van de PvdA.  "Waarom wil de PvdA meer Nutella-winkels?" Niet iedereen ziet gelijk dat de posters op straat nep zijn: "Dat meen je niet? Ik ben er gewoon ingeluisd?" reageert een voorbijganger. Een andere man laat weten de posters goed te vinden. "Goed dat er aandacht wordt gevraagd voor massatoerisme." Reactie partijen De posters worden alweer weggehaald, zo zijn er bij het Weesperplein alweer echte campagneposters overheen geplakt. De partijen reageren op de actie. De PvdA laat weten: "Grappige actie, al lijkt het me niet de bedoeling dat je uit naam van iemand anders een boodschap gaat verspreiden. Wel goed om te zien dat ons verkiezingsprogramma over is gekomen en dat ze net als de PvdA zien dat we tegen over toerisme en monocultuur moeten blijven strijden." Een woordvoerder van Volt reageert: "Geinig om te zien dat er blijkbaar partijen of organisaties zijn die niet op eigen kracht campagne kunnen voeren. Ik wens ze veel succes!"
