The film begins with shots of a man and his wife studying a map and planning an itinerary. At (:46), the couple leaves the El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon's South Rim, as a pencil traces a line on a map to the west end of the Canyon. At (1:42), 33 miles later the Havasupai tour guides help unload a flatbed truck and the adventure begins. At (2:27) mules or donkeys are loaded with supplies for the trip down to the Reservation. The man, his wife and daughter being the trek down. At (3:58) the Havasupai Indian tour guide is identified as Lee Marshall. (Marshall was later Tribal Chairman and visited Washington D.C. when the Havasupai clan was threatened with relocation. He famously declared at that hearing, “I am the Grand Canyon.”). He is shown examining calcified tree roots. At (4:40) is footage of Havasupai at play and at work, including a squaw harvesting plants and a cowboy on a horse. At (5:07) school aged kids are seen. At (5:19) a small sweat lodge is shown and at (6:00) views of what appears to be a horse ranch or farm. At (6:38) shots of some of the waterfalls followed by beautiful pools at (8:05). At (10:24) the main trail through the town of Supai, essentially the capital city of the reservation, at the bottom of Havasu “Cataract” Canyon. At (10:55) the tourists return to civilization on donkeys or mules. At (11:29) the dad is shown riding a horse bareback. The final shot in the film is from somewhere else, with a wave breaking on a distant shore. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. Omdat er zoveel ellende in de wereld is, is dit toch ook een klein sprankje hoop dat het tussen mensen ook goed kan gaan." Het is de tweede keer dat leerlingen van Elif ouderen uit de buurt uitnodigen voor de iftar. Juf Tisam. "We zijn er vorig jaar mee gestart als een soort burgerschapsopdracht. Zodat de kinderen een steentje bijdragen tijdens de ramadan. Ze hebben in werkgroepen gewerkt en alles tot in de puntjes zelf georganiseerd." De 10-jarige Henief had de rol van promotor. "Dat betekent dat ik mensen ging uitnodigen. We gingen met posters rondlopen en mensen aanspreken op straat." Uiteindelijk zijn er vanavond zo'n tien ouderen aangeschoven. Het gaat vanavond niet alleen om het eten, zegt Rudolph. "De iftar gaat, zo heb ik begrepen, ook om verbroedering, om mensen met elkaar in contact te brengen. Dat vind ik gewoon mooi." The Scottish philosopher Hume saw experience as nothing more than a bundle of perceptions, and denied the existence of a self holding them all together. Kant disagreed, arguing that sensation had to be organised by concepts for there to be experience. It is a debate that has echoed through the Western tradition. You might think science would have settled the matter, but the same dispute is still present amongst neuroscientists. Some argue that sensation is independent of how we think, a neutral bedrock of data which enables us to experience reality. While others claim what we take to be reality is an illusion created by our brain. Do our thoughts and concepts shape and structure experience and what we take to be reality? Are current theories of neuroscience taking sides in this deeper underlying philosophical dispute? Does the existence of the self and the nature of reality depend on our philosophical outlook, or is there a fact of the matter that we might uncover? #consciousness #neuroscience #brains Karl Friston is a Professor of Imaging Neuroscience at University College London and Principle Research Fellow for the Wellcome Trust. "Beter was geweest om eerst met ons in gesprek te gaan. Daarom nodigen we Extinction Rebellion uit om te praten over hoe we dit onderwerp gezamenlijk nog meer aandacht kunnen geven op school." Het is belachelijk, onbegrijpelijk en strijdig met alles waar XR voor zegt te staan: het verzekeren van een betere toekomst." Aangifte van vernieling Extinction Rebellion wil vandaag op camera niets zeggen; wel reageert een woordvoerder schriftelijk op de uitspraken van Halsema. "Een vreedzaam en krachtig protest om het schrijnende gebrek aan klimaatbeleid aan de kaak te stellen is precies in lijn met alles waar XR voor staat. March 13 marks the fourth anniversary of Brent's death, and the film is both a tribute to him and "a bigger story about all the journalists who were being killed," says Craig.
