Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, is in mourning for his dead father, the king. He's also disturbed by how quickly his mother, Gertrude, has remarried - and by the fact that her new spouse is Claudius, her late husband's brother (and thus Hamlet's uncle). Hamlet's disgust at this incestuous union, which has also robbed him of his succession to the throne, turns to fury when his father's ghost appears and reveals that he was murdered by Claudius. Vowing revenge, Hamlet decides to feign madness until an opportunity presents itself. Polonius, the lord chamberlain, thinks that Hamlet's strange behaviour springs from love for his daughter, Ophelia, but Claudius soon begins to suspect otherwise. The arrival of a travelling theatre company gives Hamlet the idea of re-enacting his father's murder to startle Claudius into revealing his guilt. Claudius is indeed shocked by the performance, but Hamlet's triumph is short-lived; while arguing with his mother in her bedroom, he stabs an eavesdropper hiding behind a curtain, only to discover that it is Polonius he has killed, not Claudius. Claudius sends Hamlet to England, secretly intending to have him put to death there. Meanwhile, Ophelia, driven mad by grief, commits suicide. Hamlet escapes, however, and returns to Denmark, whereupon Claudius urges Laertes to challenge him to a fencing match, in which Laertes will secretly poison the tip of his sword. But when both combatants receive mortal wounds, the dying Laertes reveals the plot, whereupon Hamlet kills Claudius before succumbing to his own inevitable fate. Probably made before Pearl Harbor or adapted shortly after the Japanese attack on December 7th, the film features a brief segment at the end identifying Adolph Hitler and Japan as American adversaries. Al de hele dag is de politie bezig met een grootschalig onderzoek in de woning en de straat waar gisteren het lichaam van een man werd gevonden. Het gaat zeer waarschijnlijk om de 81-jarige bewoner van de woning in de Transvaalbuurt. De man is om het leven gebracht. Dat nieuws bereikte vanochtend ook de kroeg op het Krugerplein waar het vermoedelijke slachtoffer vaak kwam. "Tragisch", zegt een man die het slachtoffer al zo'n veertig jaar kent. "Vreselijk, dit gun je niemand", zegt een ander. Het formeel afronden van de identificatie van het slachtoffer duurt langer dan gebruikelijk, wel bevestigt de politie dat het zeer vermoedelijk gaat om de bewoner van de woning aan de De La Reijstraat. Sporenonderzoek "Hij kwam hier niet zeven dagen in de week, maar wel vijf of zes", zegt een van de kroegbezoekers. Een ander vult aan: "Toen z'n vrouw nog leefde, kwam hij hier wel elke dag, hoor. 's Middags om drie uur." De ander: "Daar kon je de klok op gelijk zetten. Als hij er om kwart over drie nog niet was, vroeg je je af: waar is hij?" De politie kan op dit moment nog niets zeggen over de toedracht van het misdrijf. De recherche doet de hele dag nog sporenonderzoek en dat gaat mogelijk morgen verder. Ook is er een buurtonderzoek bezig. The bulería is one of the most popular and festive forms of flamenco. Originally a song and dance accompanied by guitar, it later evolved into a purely instrumental form thanks to major figures such as Sabicas, Niño Ricardo and Paco de Lucía. This bulería is structured in sections called falsetas — short melodic interludes alternating with accompaniment passages. The first falseta is a traditional melody from Jerez de la Frontera, arranged for two guitars by François Aria. The second is a transcription of a falseta by Paco de Lucía, which he used to perform in duo with his brother Ramón de Algeciras. The last two falsetas are original compositions by François Aria. Israeli soldiers had attempted to cover it up by burying the bodies in a shallow mass grave, and crushing the rescue vehicles with heavy machinery, but a new investigation by Forensic Architecture and Earshot has recreated a minute-by-minute accounting of what took place. Director of Earshot Lawrence Abu Hamdan, who analyzed audio from video evidence alongside witness accounts, calls the Israeli response to the attack an "obstruction of justice.” He says “there is no reason why the Israeli army, with all of its GPS coordinates, its drones in the sky, couldn't have done this internal investigation at a way higher resolution than we can have done.” “We've been able to show that the attack continues for over two hours — until 7 a.m. in the morning, where we have the last recording of the night,” says Samaneh Moafi, assistant director of research at Forensic Architecture.
