Gable famously requested that he be sent into actual combat. So naturally Hap Arnold decided he should make a movie about his combat group, the 351st Bombardment Group. Gable narrates this complete portrait of his outfit and appears in several short scenes where he interviews his comrades-in-arms. The focus of the film, though, is the group itself, especially the gunners. The film starts just after training is complete and the group flies to England to begin flying actual missions. The film covers all aspects of the lives of the gunners, from actual combat to leisure time, and from goofy hijinks to the gritty reality of seeing your buddies get killed or seriously wounded in combat. The film is quite similar to The Memphis Belle, though perhaps not as engrossing as that film. Verdachte Chris Jude heeft bekend dat hij schuldig is aan de moord op de 17-jarige Lisa op 20 augustus vorig jaar in Duivendrecht. Ook bekent hij schuld aan een gewelddadige verkrachting en poging tot verkrachting aan de Weesperzijde. Dat bleek vanmiddag in een zitting op de rechtbank. Eerder zei hij zich niets meer te kunnen herinneren. De verdachte, die zichzelf Chris Jude noemt, wordt naast de moord op Lisa ook verdacht van een gewelddadige verkrachting aan de Weesperzijde. Begin deze maand werd bekend dat hij ook wordt verdacht van een poging tot verkrachting. Ook aan de Weesperzijde. Uit resultaten van forensisch onderzoek bleek dat bloed van het slachtoffer is aangetroffen op een schoen die vermoedelijk van de verdachte is. Al deze gebeurtenissen gebeurden tussen 10 en 20 augustus vorig jaar. Eerder zei hij zich niets meer van deze gebeurtenissen te kunnen herinneren. Uit latere verklaringen blijkt dat dit niet klopte. Hij zou niet de waarheid hebben gezegd, omdat hij er niet over durfde te praten. Vandaag bleek dat Jude stemmen in zijn hoofd zou hebben gehoord, die hem aanmoedigden om Lisa om het leven te brengen. Chris Jude Ook werd er meer bekend over de achtergrond van de verdachte, een 23-jarige man uit Nigeria. Eerder verklaarde hij dat hij als kind van weeshuis naar weeshuis trok en geen contact heeft met familie. Na onderzoek van politie en een verklaring van Chris Jude zelf, blijkt dit anders te liggen. Hij weet wie zijn ouders zijn, heeft vier broers en een zus. Met sommigen heeft hij contact. Zo verklaarde hij dat hij samen met zijn broer naar Europa is gekomen. Het OM spreekt van een geschokte rechtsorde, omdat hij bewust zijn ware identiteit heeft proberen te verhullen. Stemmen De advocaat van de verdachte zei vandaag opnieuw dat Chris Jude schreeuwende en gillende stemmen hoort die hem soms opdracht geven iets te doen. De advocaat van het slachtoffer van de verkrachting aan de Weesperzijde weerlegde dat tijdens de vorige zitting juist. Volgens haar maakte de verdachte tijdens de verkrachting geen verwarde indruk, toen hij een uur lang met het slachtoffer in gesprek was. Op het Museumplein, precies tegenover het Amerikaanse consulaat, staat sinds vandaag een protestkunstwerk van kunstenaar SAZZA. Het kunstwerk is een reactie op het migratiebeleid van president Trump. De gemeente vindt dat het afwijkt van waarvoor de vergunning was aangevraagd, dus wordt nu onderzocht of de plaatsing wel passend en toegestaan is. In de VS is de afgelopen maanden veel protest tegen het harde migratiebeleid en het optreden van immigratiedienst ICE. De afgelopen maand werden twee burgers in de VS doodgeschoten door federale agenten. De locatie van de kunstwerken is dus niet toevallig. "Het is een directe reactie op de acties van ICE en het harde immigratiebeleid van Trump", vertelt maker SAZZA, oftewel Saskia Stolz. "Daarom heb ik ook maar een deel van de installatie neergezet. Normaal gesproken zitten er hartjeshanden omheen, beschermende handen die staan voor solidariteit. Maar nu wilde ik echt de nadruk leggen op de kwetsbaarheid van mensen, want wat blijft er over als we elkaar niet meer beschermen", vervolgt SAZZ. En daar valt de gemeente nu over. "Er is een vergunning aangevraagd voor een ander kunstwerk dan momenteel is geplaatst. Het betreft een werk met een wezenlijk ander karakter (‘hart gevormd door handen’).
