erwijl de wereld in de fik staat, maakte de rechtse meerderheid in de Tweede Kamer zich deze week druk over een hele andere kwestie: het voornemen van de deelstaten Vlaanderen en Wallonië om buitenlandse automobilisten voortaan een kleine bijdrage te vragen voor het gebruik van de Belgische snelwegen. Als het aan de (uiterst)rechtse partijen in ons parlement ligt, slaan we keihard terug. En dan waren er ook nog belangrijke zaken. Onder leiding van Rob Jetten zijn D66, VVD en CDA het eens over een concept-regeerakkoord. Over de inhoud valt op dit moment nog weinig te zeggen, dit behandelen we in het weekend in een speciale bonuspodcast. Maar er valt voldoende te bespreken over de vorm. Want waar verschillende duiders Jetten & co prijzen voor het tempo waarin ze de formatie hebben afgerond, vragen Hendrik en Sander zich af in hoeverre ze überhaupt hebben geformeerd. Premier Jetten heeft tenslotte nog voor geen enkel voorstel een meerderheid in het parlement. Daarmee staat geen van de plannen die hij vrijdag presenteert vast. Wat betekent het voor het gezag van de beoogd premier als hij straks voor al zijn plannen met de pet in de hand naar de oppositie moet? Oppositieleider Jesse Klaver was deze week helder over wat het kabinet van hem kan verwachten. Op het oog geeft de leider van GroenLinks-PvdA gehoor aan de oproep om constructief oppositie te voeren. Met een royaal gebaar reikt hij het kabinet zijn hand. Maar wat zegt Klaver nu echt? Het heeft er verdacht veel van weg dat premier Jetten straks vooral kan aankloppen voor steun voor plannen die in het verkiezingsprogramma van de linkse fusiepartij staan. This extra-long documentary tells the full story of the rise and fall of the Third Reich through the men closest to Adolf Hitler, the inner circle that built, sustained, and ultimately destroyed Nazi Germany. In the chaos following WWI, a small group of radicals and opportunists gathered around Hitler, convinced they had found Germany’s savior. Figures such as Dietrich Eckart, Hermann Göring, and Heinrich Himmler helped propel a failed agitator toward power. After the disastrous Beer Hall Putsch, Hitler abandoned revolution in favor of manipulation, propaganda, and legal takeover, refining his circle and eliminating rivals like Ernst Röhm. As the Nazi Party rose during the economic collapse of the early 1930s, each inner-circle figure carved out power: Joseph Goebbels weaponized mass media, Göring courted the elites, and Himmler transformed the SS into a state within the state. Rivalries intensified as Hitler seized total control, culminating in terror, persecution, and state-sanctioned violence such as Kristallnacht. During the war years, ambition and paranoia consumed the leadership. Rudolf Hess drifted into isolation, Martin Bormann quietly consolidated power, and Himmler, aided by Reinhard Heydrich, engineered the Holocaust. As military defeat loomed, Hitler turned to Albert Speer, hoping industrial efficiency could save the regime. But betrayal was everywhere. Assassination plots, secret negotiations, hoarded wealth, and desperate exit plans exposed a leadership consumed by fear and self-preservation. In 1945, as Berlin collapsed, the inner circle fractured. Loyalty vanished. The cult of Hitler disintegrated. What remained was a network of envy, greed, and denial, and a final reckoning with history. Artsen waarschuwen patiënten die voor een buikoperatie uitwijken naar het buitenland. Een deel van de patiënten is geopereerd aan een aandoening die ze volgens Nederlandse artsen niet hebben. Uit onderzoek van Nieuwsuur en NOS Stories blijkt dat vooral jonge vrouwen met buikklachten steeds vaker naar dure privéklinieken in Duitsland, Slowakije of Spanje gaan. Dat doen ze omdat ze het niet eens zijn met de gestelde diagnose. De Nederlandse specialisten waarschuwen voor de risico's van deze ingrijpende operaties in het buitenland, zoals het afsterven van een stuk darm of infecties. Estland heeft een biobank opgericht waar binnenkort het DNA van bijna 150.000 inwoners ligt opgeslagen. Het meest gedigitaliseerde land wil op die manier een preventieve en gepersonaliseerde gezondheidszorg opzetten op basis van DNA. Het is duidelijk: DNA-analyse heeft de toekomst. Maar hoe beschermen wij onze data? Waar in Nederland volop gediscussieerd wordt over een elektronisch patiëntendossier hebben de Esten al hun gezondheidsgegevens altijd bij de hand op hun E-card. Niemand kan erbij zonder nadrukkelijke persoonlijke toestemming en achteraf is altijd terug te vinden wie er precies in het systeem geweest is en welke informatie er bekeken is. Aan dat E-health syteem willen ze nu ook data uit DNA-analyse toevoegen. Daartoe heeft de Estse overheid enige tijd geleden al een genoomwet geïntroduceerd die de burgers eigenaar maakt van die data. Toen de overheid dit jaar hun burgers dan ook aanbood om van 100.000 mensen gratis een DNA test te laten uitvoeren, sloegen de computers op tilt vanwege het grote aantal aanmeldingen. De bedoeling is dat artsen in Estland op basis van het DNA preventieve gepersonaliseerde adviezen kunnen geven over bijvoorbeeld de kans op suikerziekte of hartaandoeningen, de gevoeligheid voor bepaalde medicijnen of mentale problemen, om maar een paar dingen te noemen. Voorkomen is beter dan genezen, is het motto. In Nederland werken sommige ziekenhuizen ook al met genetische data en bieden startups DNA testen aan op basis waarvan lifestyle adviezen gegeven worden. Maar een wet en één veilig E-health systeem heeft Nederland nog niet. Toch wordt DNA-analyse wereldwijd gezien als de toekomst van de gepersonaliseerde geneeskunde. Over niet al te lange tijd kost zo’n analyse nog maar een paar tientjes. Wordt het niet tijd dat Nederland ook een wet op de genetische data in het leven roept? The Monotype consists of a keyboard and a caster, allowing operators to create a paper strip that controls the casting of type. Monotype's casting allows for easy corrections, making it well-suited for printing books. The film provides a detailed look into the construction, function, maintenance, and care of a Monotype composition mold, a precision tool used in typesetting. It emphasizes the extraordinary craftsmanship and minute tolerances involved in mold manufacturing—down to less than a tenth of a thousandth of an inch. The video illustrates the casting cycle, highlighting the importance of timing and cleanliness for accurate type production. Viewers are guided through proper disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly procedures, comparing the mold operator’s role to that of a surgeon.
