Atlas Supply was a major distributor of automotive parts, tools, and supplies, particularly focused on serving service stations. It was established in 1929 by former members of the Standard Oil Trust. We recognise war as an exceptional circumstance where acts like murder are permitted, should we give up trying to apply the law to it? With the US, Russia and others breaking international law, should we conclude that international law is unenforceable unless imposed by the victor? Or is international law both necessary and vital to contain the worst atrocities? French sailors, soldiers and aviators listen to an address delivered by Gen. Charles Antoine-Luguet which provides the narrative. The film includes a range of image including images of defeat in the form of French warships that were scuttled in Toulon in 1942, such as the battleship Strasbourg. It also shows well as troops more positive imagery, including troops making practice beachhead landings from LVT’s. In the speech, Luguet pays homage to the French spirit; expressing pride in their resiliency and determination to resist complete surrender to the Germans. The film was produced for Forever France (France Quand Meme) in New York by Charles Clement. This was an organization acting to preserve comradeship between France and teh USA in the cause of freedom and democracy. Gen. Antoine-Luguet was a WWI aviator and hero, and a staunch supporter of famed French General Charles de Gaulle. Luguet commanded the Free France Air Forces in the USA. This speech was delivered after he became Air Brigadier General in 1943. Over 100,000 Free French forces fought in the Anglo-American campaign in Italy. Beiden verruilden ze hun corporate baan voor het waarmaken van hun droom: het openen van een eigen restaurant. En dat terwijl ze elkaar een aantal jaar geleden niet eens kenden. Via een gemeenschappelijke vriend, waartegen ze beiden deze droom hadden uitgesproken, werden de twee gekoppeld. Michiel had stagegelopen in New York, waar dit eten veel te vinden was en Marc was op vakantie geweest in die regio, en at daar allerlei lekkers dat wat hij niet meer uit z’n hoofd kreeg. Samen met de Libanese chef Alex hebben ze toen een menu ontwikkelt waarin groenten de hoofdrol spelen en alles vers en zelf gemaakt is, wat er niet alleen voor zorgt dat ‘t lekker is, maar ook gewoon gezond.
