Robert Brandom: How Reasons Shape Reality (Deep Dive into Inferentialism & Freedom) Robert Brandom is one of the most ambitious philosophers alive today – but his work can feel completely impenetrable from the outside. In this Deep Dive, we unpack his core ideas in clear, practical terms so you can actually use them when you argue, negotiate, or make decisions in real life. (Actually, both the Apollo command and service modules were built at North American's plant at Downey.) The capsule was then thoroughly studied to see damage effects from the re-entry process. Apollo 7 (October 11–22, 1968) was the first crewed flight in NASA's Apollo program, and saw the resumption of human spaceflight by the agency after the fire that had killed the three Apollo 1 astronauts during a launch rehearsal test on January 27, 1967. That fire took place in the Command Module, and led to a variety of modifications to the spacecraft, including making the hatch easier to open. The Apollo 7 crew was commanded by Walter M. Schirra, with Command Module pilot Donn F. Eisele and Lunar Module pilot R. Walter Cunningham (so designated even though Apollo 7 did not carry a Lunar Module). The Command Module shown here was later displayed on the NASA float in the inauguration parade of President Richard M. Nixon. After being transferred to the Smithsonian Institution in 1970, the spacecraft was loaned to the National Museum of Science and Technology, in Ottawa, Ontario. The Redex Trial attracted many of Australia and the world’s greatest drivers, including Ken Tubman, Stan Jones, Jack Davey and Jack Murray. The Redex rules were very simple: no performance-enhancing modifications to cars, except auxiliary fuel tanks and new seats. Teams would lose one point for every minute late to enter a control point, and 100 points for disobeying a direction from race officials. If a driver had to swap a part at any point during the race, they would have 500 points deducted from their overall score, which would effectively end their campaign. A total of 187 racers set forth from Sydney on the 6,500 mile drive, with over 150,000 Sydney residents coming out to wave the drivers off on their epic trip. The trial featured cars from 1928 to 1953. Drivers were required to carry additional fuel drums, sand mats, shovels and picks, as well as enough food and water to go the distance between each checkpoint. 1:32 - 2:03: The 1953 Redex Reliability Trial faced challenging conditions, with roads being improved tracks and a lack of water posing a threat to motorists. The organizers expected around 20 entries but received 192. 2:10 - 2:26: Enthusiastic participants included HR Smith from West Australia and a variety of cars, including a Porsche and a Sunbeam Talbot. 2:34 - 3:10: 63-year-old driver Granny Conway and driver Frank Kleinig.
