Een kindje van 1 jaar oud is van drie hoog naar beneden gevallen op de Amstelveenseweg in Zuid. Het jongetje viel volgens de politie uit het raam en is overgebracht naar het ziekenhuis. De hulpdiensten werden rond 09.30 uur opgeroepen. Behalve de ambulance en de brandweer zijn ook de politie en de marechaussee aanwezig. Er is een tent neergezet door de politie. Hoe het met het jongetje gaat is onbekend. Volgens een verslaggever ter plaatse zijn omwonenden geshockeerd door het ongeluk. Getuigen die het ongeval hebben zien gebeuren kunnen contact opnemen met slachtofferhulp, als zij hierover willen praten. De politie doet onderzoek naar het ongeval. Winkeliers in de Runstraat snappen niks van het politieoptreden, waarbij een taser werd gebruikt toen een bezorger weigerde mee te werken. De politie verdedigt de handelwijze van de agent juist. "Hij had zijn handen omhoog. Ik denk niet dat de bezorger het liet escaleren, ik denk dat de politie dat deed", zegt een winkelier uit de straat. De pakketbezorger die gisteren op de Runstraat werd getaserd door een politieagent zou de agent in eerste instantie bij zijn pols hebben gepakt. Volgens de politie zette de agent daarom zijn stroomstootwapen in. "Als je dan hier naar kijkt, dan mag je het wapen inzetten. En mijn collega heeft weloverwogen het stroomstootwapen ingezet en de andere geweldsinstrumenten dus niet", vertelt een woordvoerder van de politie. "En als je dan ook nog het lef hebt om een politieman zijn pols te pakken, dan schakelen wij door", aldus een woordvoerder.  Iris, die werkt in de winkel waar de bezorger iets kwam brengen, was er vanaf het begin bij. Op onze beelden is te zien hoe boos ze is. Een dag later is ze dat nog steeds. "Ik vind het ontrecht hoe de politie heeft gehandeld. En ook het taseren was zeer onnodig", vertelt ze. "Er staan hier altijd overal busjes geparkeerd, dat is niks nieuws. Ik snap dat je iemand moet aanspreken, maar om dan iemand te arresteren en te taseren, daar snap ik niks van", vertelt een andere medewerker.  Het gebruik van de taser door de motoragent zal worden onderzocht of het proportioneel en noodzakelijk was. Long before man, the insects were established. There are now some 2,000 million men, but there are as many insects per square mile of the earth. 2:06: Throughout history, insects have left their mark on human living, from the royal bee symbol of the kings of lower Egypt (Carved in the massive stone of Carnac) to winged shapes found in Baltic amber (dating back 20 million years). 2:30: The insect orders multiply through powers of reproduction "beyond belief." Zo'n vijftig Amsterdamse kinderen staan op dit moment op de wachtlijst voor een pleeggezin. Dat zijn stuk voor stuk kinderen die om wat voor reden dan ook heel hard een liefdevolle en veilige plek nodig hebben. Omdat er een tekort is aan pleegouders in de stad worden kinderen verderop in het land geplaatst, verder weg van hun vertrouwde omgeving. Volgens Marieke Klein-Entink van jeugdhulporganisatie Levvel kan de terugloop in het aantal pleeggezinnen meerdere oorzaken hebben. "Mensen zijn drukker met hun werk, het leven wordt duurder, de wereld wordt onrustig en mensen hebben steeds vaker mantelzorgtaken. Maar we denken ook: weten mensen wel wat we bedoelen met pleegzorg? Hoeveel vormen er zijn en wat het precies inhoudt?", vraagt ze zich af. Ook pleegouder Nadine Strang vroeg zich af of ze wel goed genoeg zou zijn. "Maar ik voelde met heel mijn hart dat ik het wilde, dus ik heb er op gewaagd. En ik heb geen moment spijt gehad", vertelt ze. "Mijn pleegdochter haalt het kind in mij ook weer naar boven, dan gaan we de natuur in en we tekenen veel." Tekort Het tekort aan pleeggezinnen is al jaren een probleem in de stad en neemt volgens Klein-Entink alleen maar toe, met als gevolg dat kinderen ook buiten de stad worden geplaatst. Een slechte zaak, vindt ze. "Kinderen die we niet kunnen plaatsen in Amsterdam, worden buiten de regio geplaatst. Dan ben je verder van je school, sport, ouders en familie. Een uithuisplaatsing is al zo heftig en traumatisch voor kinderen, maar als de omgeving dan wel intact kan blijven, is dat heel helpend voor het herstel van de kinderen." Strang zou iedereen willen aanraden om zich te verdiepen in pleegzorg. We trace how the Plymouth colony, having successfully taken hold in the New England soil, built a thriving regional fur trade, and expanded into Wampanoag territory, quickly came under strain from competition with new Puritan colonies, from internal religious dissension, and finally from contention and strife with the indigenous people, which culminated in a massive, destructive war. We consider how both the Wampanoag tribes and the Plymouth settlers sought to recover from this disaster and to protect their legal and political rights, only for the colony to lose its self-government as a distant royal board extinguished its legal existence, subsuming the first New England settlement into the larger and growing Massachusetts. Forensic Architecture was founded in 2010 as an interdisciplinary research group focused on investigating state violence and human rights violations. Since 2023, Forensic Architecture has focused on producing evidence for South Africa's genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. Weizman says "ungrounding" is "a kind of destruction that we have not seen anywhere else," with Israeli bulldozers "terraforming" the landscape to erase all traces of Palestinian life. With thousands of bodies still unrecovered from under destroyed buildings, Israel's flattening, extraction and reshaping of the rubble in Gaza is a continuation of its crimes, says Weizman. "Israel is actively and against court order, against the order of the ICJ, destroying the evidence of the genocide that it has perpetrated," he says.
